@Taizuko But look at more widely variated genres, like jazz. I played for years in jazz groups and combos going through highschool, and played songs in all ranges of tempo and rhythmic structure. I don't think it's necessarily just the bpm that defines a genre, but the textural vibe that is presented in the music. If you look around in music you'll hear that other genres have already used the rhythmic structures dubstep is based on, but it projects a completely different feel.

When I don't know what to classify something as, I know an artist is being original. This song in particular does fit in the tempo range of dubstep, but that's because it's a legitimate pace for downtempo music that can be danced to. It doesn't mean it IS dubstep just because the beat and the tempo fit. There's definitely elements of it in there, but there are also significant influences from ambient and rock music, in fact it sounds a lot like Evol Intent sampled an M83 song.
