  • veri veri goood

  • Amazingly tight band and great soloists. Well done!

  • Hey everyone... look at me my cousin Ed plays alto sax. Yeah i know him. We're distantly related. Also he plays jazz, on an alto. Did I mention he's my cousin, cause he is. Ya just wanted everyone to know how cool I am.

  • hey everybody that's my cousin ed, hes pretty cool, just thought you'd want to know.

  • That's my cousin Ed, on alto sax

  • That's my cousin (Ed Pazant) on alto sax

  • BUENÍSSSSSIMA LA BANDA!!! (De Charlie Parker ya no hay nada que decir!) GRACIASSSSSS!!!

  • I played this in my college we blew it all over.. it was sick.. then the jazz ensemble lots number because of the construction going on..

  • the trumpet player not only quotes billie's bounce but he quotes the MIDGET's in the beginning of his solo. good stuff

  • This is awesome!!! Love the Intro treatment.. Huge! What players you guys are.. way to kick butt!!

  • I have to play this as a solo on bass at 192 and this helped. Well played!

  • i played that song @ 12 at like 180 tempo

  • I love to see old sax players really getting their mojo working - always nice to see and hear a good big band.

  • " Pendant le temps qu' les gars n' sont pas là ,

pour parler prenons tout le temps qu'on pourra ... "

(: while the guys aren't here , let's take all the time we can to talk ...)

  • Fantastic ! Very pleased to discover this Big Band here on Youtube !

Do you know the version The Double-Six Of Paris made ? (great French Jazz vocal group who made records with Dizzy Gillespie , Bud Powel , Kenny Clark ,James Moody , Kenny Barron, Quincy Jones etc ...)

By the way , I' d like to know what "Scrapple from the Apple " means ; thank you !

    with french lyrics written by Mimi Perrin ;

Scrapple from the Apple begins like this :

  • this song is like.... the craziest thing ever... im learning it right now. these guys sound alot better... lol

  • yea i feel it a little bit too all great jazz musicians just steal licks :P

  • Saxman. True to a point. Bill Evans admitted he couldn't hear as well as many of his contemporaries enough to steal and instantly play things heard. Jimmy Raney the guitarist was the same way. Music /Physical Edu.was taken out of the public school systems during the Reagan years. One reason there are less African Americans who appreciate real jazz. Also, why there are more over weight kids /adults. All by design to me. So real voices in jazz are just about gone.

  • Is it just me or does the trumpeter quote billie's bounce right at the end of his solo, before they start trading?

  • Absolutely right.

  • That's really great!

  • great cover of bop classic!!

  • that is great how they arranged it.

  • Great work Shawn! I remember you playin' this Bird Tune in HS! You were great then too my brotha. - Speech

  • wow. crazy arrangement. great take too, good solos and all. i like the random crazy themes the woodwind soloist did. i'd love to see this group live.

  • way to go Ed from tenor man, jazzmann777(cousin)the byrd fam.

  • These guys play in D.C. a lot they are fantastic.

  • scrapple is food, made out guts & leftover what not, like chitterlings. the apple refers to new york city.

  • @tonyzaret cool, i didn't know that...now i got some good trivial knowledge to waste time with at gigs...

  • the first jazz song i fell in love with when i was 13.

  • Fantastic! I like the arrangment.

  • Excellent!

  • I love that melody. one of my favorite bird tunes

  • absolute professionals! so much feeling, to think i screamed with joy while listening!

  • nice man. great work
