Hey everyone... look at me my cousin Ed plays alto sax. Yeah i know him. We're distantly related. Also he plays jazz, on an alto. Did I mention he's my cousin, cause he is. Ya just wanted everyone to know how cool I am.
Fantastic ! Very pleased to discover this Big Band here on Youtube !
Do you know the version The Double-Six Of Paris made ? (great French Jazz vocal group who made records with Dizzy Gillespie , Bud Powel , Kenny Clark ,James Moody , Kenny Barron, Quincy Jones etc ...)
By the way , I' d like to know what "Scrapple from the Apple " means ; thank you !
Saxman. True to a point. Bill Evans admitted he couldn't hear as well as many of his contemporaries enough to steal and instantly play things heard. Jimmy Raney the guitarist was the same way. Music /Physical Edu.was taken out of the public school systems during the Reagan years. One reason there are less African Americans who appreciate real jazz. Also, why there are more over weight kids /adults. All by design to me. So real voices in jazz are just about gone.
very cool!!!!

Is it just me or does the trumpeter quote billie's bounce right at the end of his solo, before they start trading?
