Wow, this is a remarkably one-sided, ignorant video, playing off an asinine stereotype when they HAVE to know full well that there's a significant number on both sides opposing the reform as it stands in Congress at the moment.

Attacking the credibility of people/groups w/out actually addressing the merits/flaws of the ISSUE is ridiculous.
But this video uses a stereotype to touch the ridiculousness of paying a middleman (not just the CEO but the all the overhead of the insurance industry) millions of dollars - which come from premiums - creating the most expensive and inefficient health care system on earth. While perhaps not cutting to core issues, it makes several valid points using this stereotype.
But at the same time, it's hard for me to agree with the methodology of this video- they are attacking an organization because it's profitable? It just doesn't jive with me.
Personally I think it would just be awesome if any American can go into a hospital and get the care they need PERIOD. And I'd like to focus on finding a solution rather than just accuse the neigh-sayers of "hording money" just to gain leverage on a plan that's not balanced to begin with.

Individually underwritten private insurance is half the cost of group or guarantee issue policies. All of the plans to be offered thru the exchange with have to follow the same laws as group healthcare, in addition to removing limits adding in maternity and mental health. These policies will be twice as expensive as what can be bought now. You complain about price but want to change the system to make it more expensive. Economics don't care about feelings. You can't have it both ways.

Theo, it costs the insured's, not so much the taxpayer. People who pay premiums end up subsidizing the cost of the uninsureds. The House bill plan is to mandate coverage. They will subsidize any premiums over 12% of your income. The people who aren't paying premiums now wont suddenly start paying. The penalty for not purchasing private coverage will be a 2.5% fed income tax. The folks who don't buy health insurance, don't pay fed income tax either. So how will this fix the problem?

For one thing, this is about health INSURANCE, not healthcare (doctors would NOT be employed by the government).
For another thing, other health insurance companies would still be allowed to operate (just like the US has a postal service but UPS is still allowed to operate). If the private plan is cheaper with better service, you would still be able to use it.
Adding a government plan for health insurance does not make us Communist, or even Socialist. You will still be allowed to own property (your house, your car, your medical machines) if the health insurance plan went through.

There are programs out there for the poor run by the govt and private charities. section 8 housing, food stamps, grants for school, school supplies, free healthcare, free clothing. I know, i have had to participate. I feel no sympathy for those who won't do for themselves. I am no longer poor, and I now pay taxes and contribute to charities to help those that need it, but I don't see why I should pay more taxes for a poorly managed govt run plan that will destroy healthcare in the US

You can buy a major medical child only policy in Texas from Blue cross blue shield for as little as $36 a month. For the child with leukemia you can get if from the Texas High Risk Health Insurance pool for as little as $168. And if you cant afford it you can get it for FREE from chips and medicaid. I am tired of hearing sob stories. Everyone in the US can get health care. The bills in the currently house and senate will destroy a functioning system.

Individually underwritten private insurance is half the cost of group or guarantee issue policies. All of the plans to be offered thru the exchange with have to follow the same laws as group healthcare, in addition to removing limits adding in maternity and mental health. These policies will be twice as expensive as what can be bought now. You complain about price but want to change the system to make it more expensive. Economics don't care about feelings. You can't have it both ways.

Theo, it costs the insured's, not so much the taxpayer. People who pay premiums end up subsidizing the cost of the uninsureds. The House bill plan is to mandate coverage. They will subsidize any premiums over 12% of your income. The people who aren't paying premiums now wont suddenly start paying. The penalty for not purchasing private coverage will be a 2.5% fed income tax. The folks who don't buy health insurance, don't pay fed income tax either. So how will this fix the problem?

For one thing, this is about health INSURANCE, not healthcare (doctors would NOT be employed by the government).
For another thing, other health insurance companies would still be allowed to operate (just like the US has a postal service but UPS is still allowed to operate). If the private plan is cheaper with better service, you would still be able to use it.
