replacing lower case "l"s with upper case "I"s is a common virus technique. Also look out for lsass.exe on your computer. It is also a crucial process in windows computers, when spelled with the l, as in leopard. However, if you see one with the I, as in Iguana, then it is a virus. Just copy the name and paste it into a notepad or something to make sure it is the safe one and not the virus.
Hey thanks for the video. But i didnt watch this till today. My other computer had winlogon virus so i deleted it and now my pc wont start? any tips or ideas that might help thanks
winlogon.exe is a legitimate windows file/process. However the same name could be used by viruses. You should be able to differentiate between the good and the bad winlogon.exe before you actually delete it. You can run system file checker utility, if you have accidentally deleted the legitimate file. Or you might have to do a repair install.
Okay now I got the recovery disk which i inserted the disk. Now my computer was the way i bought it which is fresh windows etc, but the problem is i had some extremely important files how can i recover them after doing a full system format?
that is the whole point. WINLOGON.exe is the genuine process, whereas WINIOGON.exe is a virus. You can't make a difference when they are written in small letters, and the (i) is in capital letter.
um if it was WINIOGON.exe the User Name would not be SYSTEM it would be your computer's user name. If i was you I would terminate as soon as possible.
i thought the virus is the man on the lower right....joke man.peace

winLogon.exe is legitimate windows process, there is no harm. I am warning about its clones, namely winiogon.exe

well, i think they belong to the different user accounts on your computer. You need not delete winLogon.exe
srajure 2 years ago
If you look into the Windows task Manager and find winIogon.exe, will you also find winlogon.exe as well?

Isnt Winlogon.exe part of the SYSTEM process where it can boot up your computer properly?
