The first time I saw this, I misunderstood and thought Fender was going to sell the reproductions to the public. My wife was going to buy one for me for christmas. Imagine my disappointment when I learned that I need to pay closer attention.
i like pringles, but damnit, the lid just does not have a good sound. maybe if i peel the paper off the tube it will produce a better tone. thinking of just breaking down and buying a 5 piece tama or ludwig kit, though.
I agree w/ object187 comment. Technique is only a small part of the equation, expression is what really counts when it comes to conveying a feeling, an emotion. Dean Ween does that on so many songs.
I read an interview awhile back where Dean told a story about his Strat. He bought it at a used guitar place in Cali in the early '90s (as he mentioned here). The guy who sold it to him claimed it was the guitar used on the studio recording of Tina Turner's "Private Dancer." I don't know why you'd lie about that - I mean, what a random-ass song to lie about if he did - not Purple Haze or Layla, but Private Dancer? - so I (as does Deaner, apparently) must assume it is true.
I'd had Ween on my peripheral sights for a long time. Only recently did I get to really dive into their music. Now I can't get enough!!!! Their mastery of styles, sense of humor and phenomenal musicianship floors me. Dean is definetely an unsung player. Thanks for posting this!
I read an article about this, and I was really excited, because I thought they were releasing some for sale. My wife was going to buy me one as a surprise. But alas. . .
Definatly, what he lacks in the technical department he makes up for with his expression... you can teach scales and speed - hence why we have 1 million satriani and vai clones, expression comes from somewhere else. 1000 notes a second really doesnt sound that cool. Give me josh homme or dean ween anyday!
@object87 Oh,Josh Homme should have gotten all the credit Jack White got as being an amazing guitarist of the day...Nothing against Jack White, but Homme takes more risks.
Ya know, I see Mick as someone like Willie Nelson. Willie is a damn awesome guitar player/jammer, but never really gets the respect that he deserves in that area.
obviously you are not very smart and not a true ween fan. if you knew what was up you would know exactly what i was talking about. go do some acid and listen to pure guava dummy. sneaky ass sleazeball shit goin on right there.
