@asmyth01 That's the racing version of a 300sl. Put it beside its road cousin and you'll see they actually look very different from each other. This model had huge significance because it took first and second place at Le-Mans during a time when Mercedes, while known for durability, was definitely not known for performance. Essentially it was the start of Mercedes cars being better in every way instead of just better in terms of luxury.

@RCheung28 not sure what it was but Its most likely got a racing shifter in it. You push it forward to go up a gear instead of sideways for faster shifts and therefore quicker lap times.

@RCheung28 Don't know about the shifter, but the car is SL 1963/1971 model with a 2.3, 2.5 or 2.8 litre engine to choose from. This model got the nickname Pagoda because of the typical roofline which was lower in the middle and higher at the edges.
