HL2DM Strafe + Bunnyhop Tutorial

U can still bunnyhop. Only Gabe thought it was such a good idea to disable the Crouchbunnyhop RESTRAFE. I don't freaking get why they had to disable that part. I mean we can all still bunnyhop in the game but restrafing made the game so much better. This game made me quit games like Unreal Tournament and Quake but now he destroyed it. Thank u valve for destroying this game

The point of restrafing was never a bug. The differences are minimal and its not more of a challenge since i can bunnyhop perfectly fine. It's not just the restrafe, he destroyed some jump maps to. If i look at ur reaction ur not a very good player. Everyone hated the update, the good players.

when i load up a 'practice' server, capped at 1 player, I can strafe jump extremely easily, just like quake 3/live while I have a latency of 1. If I load a practice server with more than one player slot(which for some reason my latency goes up to 14-15 even though it's local :/ ) or join a MP server, It no longer works. Is this intended? Has it been patched out or the mechanics changed in some way?

Btw, one thing I use to do while I was learning, was to simply crouch (while stoped) and start

jumping, and then start moving the mouse and strafing accordingly.

That helped me figure out the timing, cuz I started with 0 speed and ended up with around

250-300 if I was doing it right. And from there I just tried to mantain that speed.

It's a good starting way to practice because you don't need a whole lot of map space to do it. :D

That's one of the easiest jumps.

Well, I wouldn't say it's primitive. The video illustrates it well.

And you may learn it in an hour, but when you play for more than 1 years you'll still noticing you could do better, especially with bhopping, which is very map dependent. Bhopping around lockdown flawlessly requires a really good amount of practice.

No matter how hard you try, you will always loose speed. The best chance is to reduce the amount of speed you loose.

If you loose too much speed it means you aren't jumping as soon as you hit the ground and you must practice the jumps timing.

When you can mantain your speed above 450 for more than 5-10 jumps, it means you're doing rly good.

Some (many) players use the mouse wheel down/up to make timing of jumps easier.

You might consider trying it.

where you can keep your run charge bar about 5 times longer

to do it you run then jump neatly straight after, let go of run as soon as you leave the ground. then repeat when you land

the effect is that you have running speed nearly indefinitely with practice

If you can maintain 400+ Vel for more than 5 jumps then you can officially bhop, 300's is too slow, 200's you need LOTS more practice.
