this is a lake, there is NO high/low tide. Also you see none of the surrounding land is wet.

I've seen something like that happen in the west delta. Dudes in a ski boat got stuck on a sand bar @ low tide. They un-assed it, continued on, and came back around and hit it again.
We asked them if they needed a hand, and started clapping.

I guess it wasn't the tide going out. Alcohol wasn't involved or a few shots would have been fired in your direction. At least where I come from.
