  • I love the way the camera gets out from the fence and reveals the second contestant. :) (0:12)

  • lol Sean Paul!!!

  • I like that bongo theme actually that was very great!

  • I really miss that "whoosh" sound.

  • im guessing show 1 doesn't mean the first episode.. theres a returning champ T_T

  • i miss that kind of jeopardy

  • I wish Jeopardy would go back to this intro. Our family would gather around the tube every night @ 7:30, tune on KNSD, would watch Jeopardy! My favorite part was the intro with the studio audience mumbling at the beginning and then Johnny Gilbert announcing, This is Jeopardy! I always thought the studio audience mumbling as hilarious. I wish they would bring that back.

  • 730!!!!! its always on at 4 here in the quad cities....but i did love this intro..this is the jeopardy i first remember watching

  • I always loved imitating those flashing "JEOPARDY!" lights when I was a kid. It's great to see them again. Brings back a lot of memories.

  • what am i? i am the coolist man ever

  • @shaneinkster what are you? the biggest faggot on youtube

  • I wish they had contestants walk onstage again.

  • That's actually one thing I think was right to change, look how far that champion has to go, it's a really brisk walk to the far podium!

If anyone's seen the UK game show Number One, the contestants start out behind partitions, and the camera angle blocks their view until they walk out to the podiums. That'd be a cool way to do it.

  • Please, it's not far at all. There's a small area near the lecterns where the players wait before walking out.

  • yeah, in my opinion the best set and theme. The set after this one lasted way too long. The current set needs a giant jeopardy sign on it.

  • yea instead of the little glass sign behind the contestants....that one did last too long though...the big jeopardy sign didnt even light up or anything...the sign was just on sliding doors

  • @bretodom

I agree. The giant Jeopardy! sign was cool.

  • I wish you showed the rest of the episode.

  • This is still my favorite Jeopardy! set and opener.

  • mine too

  • hahaha. Seannn Connnery

  • "I'll take Jap Anus Relations for 200"

  • At about 13 seconds into the clip, you see a grate like thing in front of the camera, what the heck is that?

  • On that set, there was a metal grid to the left side of the game board, not just behind the logo and the podiums.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhh, I see now, thank you so much, I wonder why they would do that, maybe to add in more dramatic effect.

  • Yeah. This particular set had a checkered pattern.

  • Do you have the whole episode? You can split into parts.

  • I wish they would have keep the set like this because I think this set was perfect and needed no improvements. I like a the lights and stuff.

  • The lights are still as awesome as ever. The sushi bar was a little more intimate and relaxing while the current set brought the brightness back, but it ain't the same without those massive lights.

  • this is my favorite era!

  • I just love how the set springs to life after the globe explodes in your face. With the music and timing, this was a much more serious and intence opening at the time. It seemed like the contestants were dealing with their lives rather than money with that intro. And to me when I was a kid back then, that was awesome. This was THE show for me back in the 90's, still love it today.

  • I liked it when they showed Alex on the game board. Made him seem very conceited, but in a good way :)

  • That opening line scared me when I was a kid.

    "THIS. IS. JEOPARDY."

  • Did anybody hear Johnny say "Dollahs"?

  • Yes.... What's your point? That's just how he says it, does not make anyless of a human.

  • What do you mean what's my point?

  • The show was so much better then.

  • This is around the 1992-1993 Season....

  • 64 was when they launched.... 78 nbc went and purchased it back...Merv Griffin returned Jeopardy! to TV in 1984, in five-a-week first run syndication, and using the original rules described above earnings). Fleming may or may not have been a serious candidate to host (depending on who you but Alex Trebek got the nod, and over the years, he has become just as associated with Jeopardy! as Fleming ever was. Jeopardy! is the second-highest rated program in syndication today

  • This is not from 1978, it's from 1992.

  • this doesn't look like 1978!! this is from around 92 or so

  • Sometimes I imagine they still had the globe, dark set and swooshing noise as the intro in the 1996-97 season.

  • Same here. And the big Jeopardy! logo on the set

  • the returning champion looks like he's about to cry!!! lol

  • cause he's bout to be in "DOUBLE JEOPARDY!" HA HA HA HA HA!!!

  • That bongo track sounds like a horse trying to dance.

  • why don't they make a new set that's based almost entirely on the 1991-1997 set, that's what everybody wants including the old music back

  • Me too, I want that. As well as lecterns that flash in the credits. Like on the All-New Jeopardy!. But the only way to get any of that is to complain to sony. And I doubt they would listen. But we can dream I guess.

  • I always liked it whenever there were 3 gentlemen as contestants.

  • How many games did Paul Klein win & what was it total after that many days?

  • I miss the old Jeopardy with the creepy synthesizer and bongos in the theme song and the cheap production values. Those were the days.

  • i lol'd

  • The Jeopardy! theme back then really sounded like you were in danger in the begginning with the bongos and synths.

  • I remember when the board had a huge picture of Alex prior to the beginning of the show. Made the show look almost like a cult...

  • Aaaaah this set is all kinds of awesome...and those splash cards.

I really loved Jeopardy back in the day

  • This set should make a come back. It's kinda futuristic for one thing. I think so anyway.

  • I agree..the intro too..it kinda set the mood, you know?

  • My favorite intro/set of all time!

  • One question for you STUOIT, could you download this entire episode?

  • The Jeopardy! Globe OWNS any other Game Show logos.

  • it did when i was watching in on WMAR-TV Channel 2 in the early 1990's

  • Where is WMAR-TV in?

  • WMAR-TV is in Baltimore, Maryland.

  • What network affiliate is WMAR-TV in Baltimore?

  • WMAR is affiliated with ABC.

  • I watched it on KMTV in Omaha in the 80's and early 90's. In the mid-to-late 90's and early 2000's I watched it on KOLN in Lincoln, now I watch it on KHQ in Spokane.

  • "THIS IS JEOPARDY"

That slogan gave me nightmares as a kid. No joke.

  • I miss this set, music and intro, I think it was better than what they used since 1996

  • I think this is from 1991.

  • Nope, 1992 or 1993. Either way, this is from Season 9. If this were from 1991, it would've been Season 8.

  • And the bongo track you hear on the theme here wasn't added until season 9.

  • The bongo track was added in Season 8 when the new set came in around early '92. (From what I heard, the bongo track was added in '91, but I could be wrong)

  • During the 1991-1992 season, it was only used for tournaments. It was made permanent the next season.

  • what year was this from and how much money did you win what was it like on this set of jeopardy
