Cale was gone and Nico was and the Yule brothers were gonna take over soon Doug Yule was playing here. He kinda ruined the Velvets I think. They never sounded the same until the reunion deal after they ditched the Yules.

I saw them at the Whiskey A Go Go on this tour in 1969. Talking to them afterwards, I thought they'd be stone freaks, but they were sweet and very straight, especially Maureen. I asked why they didn't play "Sister Ray"--my favorite--and they said they forgot! (Maybe they weren't that straight.) Put on your red pajamas...
