What got me even as a little kid was the part after this song where they arrest Friar Tuck for getting angry at the tax collector who took "tax money" out of the poor box.
The only song ever featured in a Disney film sadder than this one was "When Somebody Loved Me" from Toy Story 2. Hearing this tune continues to break my heart...and I'm not even sure why, other than the fact that Roger Miller really manages to convey a deep sadness through the music.
@mmafan121 Actually, just followed your advice and listened to the Mumfords. Not sure who those people are, but good songs can easily be ruined by people with no talent. Thanks for the bad advice
@thorpowerfly Well I'm sorry you feel that way, but judging by the people who voted that comment to be one of the top rated on this video, most people don't share your sentiment. Just because you don't like how they did the song, it doesn't mean they aren't talented. You could have easily said that you weren't a fan, instead of bad mouthing the band.
WOOP! FOR NOTTINGHAM, obviously this wouldnt have been as good if all the actors had northern actors, trust me, saing nottingum would have ruined this!
Yes it's not pronounced HAM but New Orleans isn't pronounced OR-LEANS (it's like or-linn's) but singers, even from the area, pronounce it that way because it's a hard vowel sound and sounds infinitely better sung that way. Can you imagine Not in Notting-um?
@TastyBao Not to stick my head where it doesn't belong, but I think trying to twist some innocent stranger's simple comment into some messed up sort of way to disregard the meaning of a pretty song is pretty sad.
@b3ntleg I know right...dear Americans thanks for the awesome film but Nottingham is pronounced 'nottingum'. Just glad the story's not set in Burpham!
@b3ntleg I know right...dear Americans thanks for the awesome film but Nottingham is pronounced 'nottingum'. Just glad the story's not set in Burpham!
Just finished watching this movie AGAIN. I can't explain how much I love it. However it probably has something to do with the simply lovely, lovely music. (:
@ChronoKnuckles No. I don't want or need to know why. I don't care. It's been a month little one! Time to move on. Go, live life! New experiences abound beyond the internet. Be one with the real world! And for fuck sake kid, try not to be so pathetic in the future.
@ChronoKnuckles That makes absolutely no sense and considering the fact that I actually had to come back to see who you were and what you were talking about it's also a little pathetic. One month kiddo. Some random stranger's comment has managed to get you so riled up that you have to revisit it a month later to try and dig at him? Son, get a girl (or a guy if it's your preference), get laid, maybe do a little underage drinking, maybe smoke some pot and just live your life, This is just sad.
@misssaradiana erm I wasn't talking literally. I was saying I think that they "made it the best"... But hey that's my opinion...no need to call me names when it's clearly you who's actually misunderstood!
This is the real world. Its the despotism we fight in the world against the global elite and the result is the reduced standard of living, decreased health and trapts us in a fight for survival. Our minds are being controled with social engenering and biological means too. Even if it sounds farreached this is what we have. IMO spiritual believes help to know what to do. The video shows that its important to help eachothers in times of dificulty specially

@OjikesShadow Seriously? What a blisteringly naive comment. Steve Jobs use of Foxconn peasants to produce your apple products is EXACTLY mimics the form of devastating oppressiveness decried in this heartfelt song. Wow, you have a severe lack of context... Please pay some attention to "the man behind the curtain".
@OjikesShadow erm. yeah. ok. you're still lacking context I see. it's sure ironic that you'd fanboi apple's hideous overseas employment practices on the occasion of Labor Day. anyhoo, since when does glenn beck speak *for* Chinese indentured servants?
@TastyBao I can you Glenn Beck because you jump to conclusions and assume the worst about me. I'm actually typing this on a PC, I could give two shits about Apple or their products. I just happen to use an iPod/iTunes.
@OjikesShadow Mumford and Sons did a cover song for this, don't know if it's on Itunes There is a spanish one written and sung by Ali Primera called Techos de Carton, covers done by Marco Antonio Solis, and Javier Alvarez.
@ChronoKnuckles Oh well that totally excuses you from acting like a spoiled little brat. Somebody needs to take your computer privileges away and make you sit in time out or preferably give you a much more violent punishment until you learn some manners. Christ I hate kids!
Oh Robin Hood, hundreds of years later and things haven't changed..... The rich get richer and the poor poorer, us working class need another figure like you :/
@imfromtambunan Well, people are great, cause they are positive, hard working and strong. But our leaders...They are thieves and terrorists.I ve got no good words for them. They are literarlly like Sherif of Nottingham and Co.But,hope is here.=)
