Clearly the Mirage drive hit something at speed, not just water. I guess the vid shows why reefing should be done earlier! The TI went just as fast with the sail almost fully reefed, with far less stress on the gear
So you bent the drive... did you hit something or was it just from the force of the water? Or you don't know for sure... that's an expensive trip, maybe the drive needs to be pulled up in strong winds if the case is the force of the water damaged it at speed, though I'm sure it need to act as a centerboard in opposition to the rudder. What do you think happened?

Sure hate to see a sail flogging like that. You should keep some tension on it as you reef. Why were you holding up your mirage drive at the end?
