It should be that you can repair for example a iron pick with an iron ingot a stick and a string and to repair half the damage of an item by surrounding it by 3 strings in the 2 by 2 crafting grid.

with this I might actully choose to use diamond pickaxes for cobblestone generators/giant quarries because before I would need to save it because its so valuable and save i for stuff like iron diamond or obsidian but this as said cuts whatever th amount you need to use for it in either half or 2/3 or by -2 sticks for shovels. its also useful for the iron ones because I think I may be one of the few peole who has noticed but the durability on iron pickaxes really went down.

@cCartzy there is a benefit if in a scenario where u have 2 picks 30% durability left,u have a full inventory and u need everything,and u found diamonds...thats a benefit for an extra inventory space

@itoko25 unless you're as un-organised as fuck, you wouldn't have 2 picks with 30% durability left. Most people use pickaxes once at a time. So in that scenario of yours, any normal person would have to repair a damaged tool with a full one, which is no different than if you just threw the damaged one away.

So if you put two together that are 2 hits from death you'll get a new one that is 4 hits from death. So yes its useless. I
