Look ive owned both silverado 5.3L 315hp and a ram 5.7L 390hp and over 400 ft lb of torque the 2012 ram has a 6 speed tranny fyi....... the ram performs light years ahead of the silverado, smoother ride, and offers more features on the lower end models like the express for the ram.....incase your curious ive owned nothing but chevys until this ram. Both have great features but you cant argure 5.3 vs 5.7 in this case ram takes it easily!

@1999z71silverado i did buy a real truck its called a dodge ram with a cummins BITCH. ford or chevy have yet to come close to a cummins. ford cant find a good diesel and chevy is closer but they cant pull like a cummins and dont last like a cummins. and chevy has the worst front ends and seem to have a big problem with my fav allison tranny. but its not holding up. dont forget the Tcase problem chevy has. real TRUCKS are not 1/2 tons and real truck make it to 1,700,000 miles chevy and ford cant!
@blownutsmyass duramax and powerstroke are great engines. the new power stroke puts up impressive numbers all they need is a better transmission like the allison transmission which chevy has and is the same transmission thats in a m1a1 abrams tank, fire trucks, and the usmc aav. fire trucks also have the cummins in it but the transmission makes the engine.
@1999z71silverado the allison tranny in the pickup does not have the same quality of parts as the tank and big trucks. chevy version uses cheaper/lighter parts to keep the cost down on the truck. and there not holding up to there name. it was even stated awhile back on powerblock TV. check around the Dmax forums and you will see alot of them have problems with less then 100k on them. my self stick to manual trannys and my dodge with a cummins. the ONLY trucks able to run 1.7million miles pulling
@1999z71silverado show me documented proof of any other engine that was factory put in a pickup no biger then a 1 ton that has NEVER had rings pistions rod and main bearings nothing in side the engine rebuilt or replaced for 1.7 million miles working as in pulling a load most of them miles. i have yet to find any other then the cummins and i have been looking.

Hey don't get me wrong I like my Chevy truck, but is it really worth bringing up the whole idea of fuel economy between the two? Come on the Ram has a 5.7L and gets 20Mpg Hwy and the Silverado with a 5.3L gets 21Mpg Hwy...Don't even go there about the 6 speed vs. the Ram's 5 speed, there is no difference in economy, trucks are bad on gas, period. My neighbour has a 209 ram 1500 and my 1994 f150 can carry 900lbs more than his ram. coils are for comfort not for work. when he has something to move thats tooo heavy for his 390 hp ram he is knocking on my door asking for help from my 200 hp 16 year old 425 000 km F150. I want see any of the NEW truck make it as far as mine. my cousin has a 05 tahoe it has so many problems
also with that dodge you can automatically choose your gears on the shifter itself rather than "tapping brakes"... not to mention a free year of satellite radio, and a hell of a better looking truck...
well for starters chevrolet cant compete with dodges prices.. really no one can out there... also 490 hp with a generous gas mileage.. not to mention the technology on the dash board- which provides the driver with hill side assist , etc.. the silverado/sierra is still stuck in the 2007 era... but yet dodge clearly adds more and more to their trucks I own a 2010 ram SLT.. and unless its a duramax they cant compete..there only defense in this whole video is gas mileage which isnt that much more

Heres my philosophy, my 09 Ram 5.7 4x4 CC averages 18.2 (over all). The first week of ownership (year ago) I hauled a Bend Pak two post lift in the bed (tad over 1,700 lbs), truck handled outstanding, and anyone who lives in So. Wis. Knows how terrible the Co. Hwys are. Like driving on rail road ties. The three guys who rode with me on that 150+ mile journey were dumb founded how smooth the rear coiled suspension was. Couldn't even tell the bed had 1,700 lbs loaded.
@pwrktg i drive an f150 bought it used with 70k on it first day out i went and loaded about 2000 pounds of roof shingles paper nails my cousin did the same and my tuck just fine smooth and well behaved the tundras bed hit the cab hard and the tailgate now has a big gap on one side oops bent frame american trucks are all good just not a jap crap truck

@blownutsmyass duramax and powerstroke are great engines. the new power stroke puts up impressive numbers all they need is a better transmission like the allison transmission which chevy has and is the same transmission thats in a m1a1 abrams tank, fire trucks, and the usmc aav. fire trucks also have the cummins in it but the transmission makes the engine.

@1999z71silverado the allison tranny in the pickup does not have the same quality of parts as the tank and big trucks. chevy version uses cheaper/lighter parts to keep the cost down on the truck. and there not holding up to there name. it was even stated awhile back on powerblock TV. check around the Dmax forums and you will see alot of them have problems with less then 100k on them. my self stick to manual trannys and my dodge with a cummins. the ONLY trucks able to run 1.7million miles pulling

@1999z71silverado show me documented proof of any other engine that was factory put in a pickup no biger then a 1 ton that has NEVER had rings pistions rod and main bearings nothing in side the engine rebuilt or replaced for 1.7 million miles working as in pulling a load most of them miles. i have yet to find any other then the cummins and i have been looking.

@1999z71silverado now if they would have left the allison the way it was in the bigger trucks it would last longer then 100,000 if i was ever to deal with a auto tranny it would be a allison but i wouldnt use one out of a chevy pickup i would take it out of a bigger truck so i had all the good parts and settings right from the start.

@1999z71silverado i built a neat chevy 1 ton crew cab awhile back with a isuzu inline 6 358ci turbo diesel with a allison for the wife to drive but we sold it after we cracked the frame and just bought a dodge with a cummins for her. now we have the bright idea of a old detroit diesel 6-71 in a pickup but use like a 6500 drive train. should come out cool if we ever get to it. and wheres the proof of anether pickup engine with over 1.7 million miles on it thats never been rebuilt?

Hey don't get me wrong I like my Chevy truck, but is it really worth bringing up the whole idea of fuel economy between the two? Come on the Ram has a 5.7L and gets 20Mpg Hwy and the Silverado with a 5.3L gets 21Mpg Hwy...Don't even go there about the 6 speed vs. the Ram's 5 speed, there is no difference in economy, trucks are bad on gas, period. So what if the Silverado can squeeze a whole other Mpg over the Dodge. Stop comparing Dodge, Ford, and Chevrolet, get rid of that Jap scrap Toyota!

My neighbour has a 209 ram 1500 and my 1994 f150 can carry 900lbs more than his ram. coils are for comfort not for work. when he has something to move thats tooo heavy for his 390 hp ram he is knocking on my door asking for help from my 200 hp 16 year old 425 000 km F150. I want see any of the NEW truck make it as far as mine. my cousin has a 05 tahoe it has so many problems

well for starters chevrolet cant compete with dodges prices.. really no one can out there... also 490 hp with a generous gas mileage.. not to mention the technology on the dash board- which provides the driver with hill side assist , etc.. the silverado/sierra is still stuck in the 2007 era... but yet dodge clearly adds more and more to their trucks I own a 2010 ram SLT.. and unless its a duramax they cant compete..there only defense in this whole video is gas mileage which isnt that much more

Heres my philosophy, my 09 Ram 5.7 4x4 CC averages 18.2 (over all). The first week of ownership (year ago) I hauled a Bend Pak two post lift in the bed (tad over 1,700 lbs), truck handled outstanding, and anyone who lives in So. Wis. Knows how terrible the Co. Hwys are. Like driving on rail road ties. The three guys who rode with me on that 150+ mile journey were dumb founded how smooth the rear coiled suspension was. Couldn't even tell the bed had 1,700 lbs loaded.
