It's really an awful feeling to be in the middle of a run, totally absorbed in what you are doing, and then have a dog come out of nowhere like it wants to kill you.
That's the downside to running in the country or something -- if no one is around and a dangerous dog comes at you, that could be the end of your day.
@MrHenrick1 For something that is only capable of biting and scratching you suggest shooting with bullets and lethal injection? That is why man is the most dangerous beast of all.
@gts5001 I didn't suggest anything! I simply asked if that is what happens. If a dog bites someone for no reason they probably have a bad temperament and will continue biting people. I mean the papers always have stories of dogs mauling children. I'd rather put a dog down than have a child killed by a violent animal.
@gts5001 Only able to bite ? If a 150 pounds rottweler or two pitbulls attack you in a middle of a nowhere place... you surely would be killed. They are strong and can put you down. Lie on the ground, you have no chance. Your only chance is to climb on a tree... and if nobody comes to rescue you, they would wait for their lunch...
@WALTKRIEG You were in the Army? Must have been admin.. joking aside fighting 2 or more of anything is a whole different ballgame. And i've been in your little scenario, and i'm still alive to tell about it. That was lucky but one vs one odds are in your favor as long as you know your enemy. Yes they have teeth and claws but their range of motion is very limited and the human body is a superior weapon.
Trust me, most people would have sued the pants off the owner and the dog would have probably been put down. Ryan Hall is an exceptionally nice person who wouldn't do that to someone.
At the Athens training camp just a few weeks b4 the Games Meb was jumped by a German Shepherd. (pretty sure it was a German Shepherd... I'll ask him). Anyway, Meb still hates dogs - he always runs a little faster when we pass them!
hahah thats great, can kinda picture that. n i think i remember him now saying something about that to my team when he came up to mammoth to visit us which was really cool (not the getting attacked part... that he went outa his way to talk to us lol) but ya good job to ryan in beijing
Hey jaycarbon, I was attacked by a German Shepherd when I used to run, when I was eighteen. But my heels knocked it out. It attacked my feet but didn't see the other right one coming up to its jaw, and then the other. It was an accident but not sure if it was attacking or playing.
@chrissaboy When I was in army, I used to run, in a desert in Cyprus, with a basebal bat. When wild dogs came to me, I had to show them my stick and they let me continue my run. Dogs know the meaning of a baseball bat. Strike !
January 14 is coming up has he been bitten yet before the olympic trials?

@zippo7224 He is an endurance runner and not a sprinter like Usain Bolt.

@petrucci14 But, Mr Bolt would have to find a shelter who is only less than 50 m. Big dogs run really really fast.
