  • can u just teach me how 2 play

  • I was lucky enough to meet Barry Tuckwell. He is just an awesome guy.

  • @Nailsdewed Yes, sorta, they both read treble, but if you play the french horn with the trumpet, both on trumpet music, it starts to sound very funky sounding, so I would read out of a french horn book, and I learned out of a trumpet book, so if you use a trumpet book, have LOTS and LOTS of help with the fingering positions.

  • i have a question... i reach 4 octaves in 9-th grade is it good or i have to advance more ?

  • The horn evolved from the hunting grounds. =]

  • @radiationboom Go for it, horn is tons of fun, I think you might enjoy it if you patience enough to switch from woodwind to brass. I myself am a brass trying to master all instruments, so I can one day be a music teacher, but I play the horn in class, and I LOVE it.

  • At the beginning in the duet, is an F the highest note he plays? It's ridiculously high!

  • I want to talk to this man. I have sooo many questions to ask him!!!

  • I want to get back into playing the horn now!! Thanks Mr Tuckwell!

  • none the less from Barry Tuckwell. virtuoso indeed.

  • I heard this over 25 years ago and I still don't know how you can play up to super F with such precision, what a player!

  • I dont play this, but I find it very interesting.

    Best instrument ever !

  • I remember when Barry Tuckwell was the conductor in Hagerstown, Maryland. I went to a couple of performances there. But I never saw him play the horn; just conduct.

  • Thanks for posting this =D

  • I love it to best instrument ever

  • yeea french horn rocks

  • @MrLogman288 , Actually cello sucks. I like the horn better than the cello. Nice try.

  • @waddleduckie1 i dont even know what a cello is

  • whats the song at the starting?

  • @mikebrockandroll

    Mozart 12 Horn Duets

  • So i'm a Bari Sax player but i really want to start playin the horn, as a beginner, does anyone have suggestions/ tips for me?

  • If you want some tips contact me ;)

  • @radiationboom Hello! Without meaning to discourage you -I think it's quite unusual to play both a reed instrument and a brass, because it messes up your aperture a bit and you won't be used to positioning your lips in such a way to get the right pitch, - but by all means try it! Do lots of buzzing exercises (better to have a teacher to demonstrate). Start off with a single F horn (later on you can move onto a double horn). Have fun!

  • @radiationboom I'm a Bari Sax player aswell, and I just took-up F Horn at the beginning of this year. If you have a good ear and are willing to practice both (you'll want to keep playing your sax so you don't lose your woodwind embouchure feel) you should give your best shot to trying the Horn! It's a truley a wonderful instrument; this last year's been really great as I've been learning how to deal with a brass instrument. Hope you're up for a challenge!

  • Some of my favorite horn players work the stash! All that hair on top your mouthpiece.. the best.

  • wow..... i am a horn player of about 2 years, i started on clarinet but i decided to go for a challenge. the horn is deffinatly my instrument of choice, but this guy is amazing. his lip trills are the stuff of legends.

  • Tayluvsday. I played the cello. I sucked. I play the horn. I love it. The cello sounded like a sick cow with laryngitis. How would you explain to an experienced cellist when one cannot master the instrument?

  • Horn is awesome. there is no denying it's awesomeness.

  • hey i'm the only one in my class with the french horn, and, even though i wanted to play the trumpet, it's definitely one of the more awesome instruments in existence

  • but it gets incredibly spitty though :-/

  • u suck you loser!! french horn rocks!!

  • if I had chosen a brass instrument instead of cello, I would definitely play french horn.

  • ...ciò è davvero interessantissimo.

  • I had a dream the other night where I was getting taught horn by Mr.Tuckwell after my horn teacher left me.

  • WTF???

  • boring but entertaining

  • me too ricci1066

  • thanks. i play french horn in my school band.

  • one useful thing about being a brass or horn player, I was the only one that could make the right sound on a conch shell at the last New Years party :)

  • i respect tuckwell . but i think his sound is too kinderer . i mean not so beautiful like radek baborak or stefan dohr or hermann baumann

  • @BlackBurnHUN

Or, Dennis Brain, ultimately for my own age. he was my idol, growing up.

    Elise

  • @mommakitty1967

U're right Brain is a legend (RIP) He was a best in his years .

    Marcell

  • ненавижу его

  • Very interesting. That french hunting horn was really cool.

  • quand je pense que cazalet bavé sur lui!

  • La bave du crapeau n'atteint pas le serpent à plumes.

  • Very wonderful sound. I wish i could play even 10% of his capability.

  • stupendo stupendo stupendo!

Chi ama il corno ama questo video !

  • "there are other high notes, but theyre actually beyond my physical capabilities" 4:34 that sounds really funny

  • Clamorous!! I wanna get like that

  • Awesome footage of Barry Tuckwell, I was looking all over for a video of him. I want to add this along with my favorites of Dennis Brain and many other hornists who are forever my inspiration.

  • .... and i thought i was good at french horn... im a seventh grade newbie.... :(

  • dont worry only 4000 hours of practice and you will get there :-)

  • really? 4000 hours of practice and i'll get somewhere?

  • For a dedicated horn student that's only about 3 years... so in three years someone can play like Tuckwell? Well, that's interesting... good luck with that. Not that Tuckwell is by any means the best, but you certainly can't get there in three years.

  • lovely

  • holy shit .... i wonder if u can get any better than this guy

  • Radovan Vlatkovic, Hermann Baumann, or Dennis Brain for starters.

  • Thumbs down for someone who is familiar to more famous hornists than Barry Tuckwell?

  • You think they are more well known? Dennis Brain sure, but I wouldn't say Radovan or Baumann are more famous.

  • Perhaps not, but they are all comparable to Barry Tuckwell in virtuoso. Or at least Dennis Brain and Radovan Vlatkovic, I haven't actually heard a lot of Hermann Baumann

  • His chops are rock solid. Much pro

  • Ha!! Brahms No. 1 on an alphorn. I love it!

  • Whats the first music piece callled?

  • one of mozarts 12 duets for horn

  • I love hornz! they are my fave instrument! I made it into all star band with the wonderful horn!! CHEERS TO HORN PLAYERS!!
