I had one on these as my first RC sailboat, despite the fact that it is toy quality it was a blast and I used it a lot. Now I recently built an victor-model America3 24", it is brilliant.
I have one of these , but never used it. I can't find the manual and I don't know where the batteries go in the sailboat. Can anyone help me with this?
don't cut the sails.... You can use even larger ones especially the jib. try and put 1 to2 ozof weight below the keel bulb just
just glue on a car wheel weight to see how it works. you will then be able to adjust the weight to see what works best and form it and epoxy it into the bottom of keel bulb. this boat will take more sail easily especially the jib which is too small for a racing boat. a woman's silk or dacron scarf works well. I will rerig with a much larger jib Nov
I did what you say and it become better. What about I cut a litle band off the jib and the master too? It seans to me that they are too much biger to this boat. A friend of mine will buy another one to to a race with me.
Good surprise for me to see you sailing with your boat because I just bought one here in Brazil. I used it at the sea and i agree with you that it´s necessary more weight at the kell. I thing that i´ll use epoxi to add it there. Thanks
power was used to turn against wind and get it going. sail and jib adjust by winch from RC . needs more weight in keel . Something I will do this Fall
2500 milliamps is the number on the battery indicating the current capacity. Higher the number the longer it last and the more power you have. 1 oz weight is 28.35 grams
so is methymercuty in all our Fla fish, and dioxin furans and Rx drugs which are substantially in greater quantities than lead and arsnic. Check out the USCGS St Johns River. I live in Fla lead is the least toxic of my worries and yours. ( FEEL FREE use copper or stainless steel ) I am also a retired registered environmental manager Fla water quality is my other interest
sealed in waterproof glue is the plan. However lead is an element of the earth and naturally occuring in all Fla water as is Arsnic and some radioactive elements.Mercury converts to methylmercury in all Fla waters primarily due to coal fired power plants and most Fla lakes and rivers methylmercury has accumulated in the fish to the extent to warnings postings on eating the fish and occurances of tumors and deformed fish.
I just bought one of these and have tried it out at a lagoon by the sea and at an artificial lake here at Lisbon.
I just loved it.
To sail against the wind is really possible and great fun.
Hard to get the sails "closed" (sorry, I don't know the technical terminology) and "loose" so to sail the way we want at the beginning, but after some tries we can actually manage it.
Also, the impermeabilization is quite fine and the battery case was pretty dry.
I bought it new at K Mart clearance for $6.25 cents tax included. I run it with 4 AA 2600 MA batteries Rechargable that I bought at WalMart for about $6.25 as well. I am planning on a new jib made with parachute scraps and also adding lead shot to the keel. Needs a bit more balast in keel. I really enjoyed it .
Yes you are correct . My excuse is this is my first sailing experience with an RC sailboat and " emergency " is the way I get around tacking slowly into the wind. It needs a longer narrow keel or more lower keel weight and better sail trim to get to true RC standards. A spiniker would be a nice addition too. As soon as someone quits outbidding me on E bay I hope to get a more advanced one to film in my collection.
Boat needs more weight in keel. One e bay guy added pennies to the keel and noted great improvement in wind handling. there is another version of this hull with a hobby grade narrow extended racing keel
Maybe get a new camera...?

put some small lead shot in the hollow keel about 1 oz to start.. Major improvementI have been told.

were you using the outboard? also in this model can you pull in the mainsail by remote or does it have to be adjusted prelaunch?

did you modiy the sails to make them tighter?
ndingo 3 years ago
just tighten the lines with knots
eustonianboater 3 years ago
put about one oz of lead at the very bottom of the keel and adjust the sail to nearly in line with hull when retracted and it will really improve

Lead shot in any waterway is deadly for wildlife, bad idea.

Paint the lead with epoxy - slow down diffusion into water.

I do recommend as a beginner's.
