To the IHOP haters : I grew up in a non-religious home. Any encounter with religion, aside from 'the nice stories' we got for a few years in primary school, always depressed me. So many churches focus on doom & gloom, say we're all going to hell. They never mention what Jesus died for. Until I discovered places like IHOP I wouldn't have touched Christianity with a barge pole.
That's great! I'm sorry for what the Body of Christ has done. We're trying to rectify this problem. I realize now what some of my actions to non-believers has done to their view of God and His church, so now I'm changing how I speak/act in general. My hope is that God will be seen in His church.
I grew up in a religious Baptist church. Since everyone was so shallow & there was no real relationship with Jesus I fell into drugs & sexual immorality. I dont go to IHOP but a different non-denominational church & my whole life has been changed & I love Jesus now. Unfortunately, you who talk badly about IHOP & practice religion & not love for Jesus, you are going to get to heaven & you will say to God, "I was a good person & went to church" & He will say but I never knew you!!!!! The problem with this kind of praise and believe me I came through all this in the 90s- is that it FEELS SOO good but actually means nothing- " let me know that Im alive???? Any believer knows they are free -this self indulgent/romantic lyrical singing repetitveness is what Jesus warned us of . Sound teaching - one verse would be worth more than 6 hours of this. Try it- see what the Lord brings- one verse against 6 hours of Misty- this is what we need today- BIblical study.
Please consider me on your side, FunnyPlace - I have friends at PGHOP and I have performed your music! I have experienced healing miracles at Lourdes (very well accepted) and recently at Medjuggoria - in both places, the healing is done via natural processes, for the purposes of showing the presence of God and not for the sake of the miraculous phenomena themselves. These are very well accepted and researched by the Vatican. So divine healing is very real and accepted! Dont worry about it!
@funnyplace1 now if IHOP claims that miracles happen in their church by them praying for others then its very likely to be true. They should be humble of course. In my church there was a woman who came in and she couldnt move one of her hands. She went up to the altar and in front of EVERYONES eyes when people prayed for her, she lifted her hand up. This of course could not have been possiblle without faith and prayer. But a man & woman of God were used by him to help. God bless you.

The person is a mere vessel and its GOD who heals. He does the miracles, and uses people. people who are there to give God the glory. so if a church says that people have been healed from cancer, AIDS, anything, whatever it may be, then believe it.

Then after Pentecost, the apostles AND OTHERS did miracles. Have you not read the Book of Acts? And then Paul wrote in I Cor.12 about the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit given to every member of the Body of Christ, and two of them are “gifts of healings” and “the working of miracles.” The preaching of the gospel included demonstration of the Kingdom!

Jesus told us not to judge others, lest WE be judged by GOD, and He called those who do judge, “hypocrites” (Mt. 7:1-5). Secondly, be very careful not to do as the Pharisees did to Jesus. If this was true why do people have cancer, have broken lives? It's because God doesn't perform Amazing miracles through people, he does it through constant prayers and faith. Further, it says people were healed when Peter's shadow fell on them. Then, when Paul and and Barnabas had healings occur through their laying on of hands, the city people came out to worship them as if they were gods. Of course, GOD does the healing; but He uses human instruments.

I will say that I agree that miracles by nature - God chooses when and how (in Revelation we see the forces of darkness can do "false" miracles - as well as in Exodus) but men are the "agent". When I first started "interceding" and went to a hospital with others to pray for a man's healing. The man kept saying "thank you Lord for sending them".. a day later he died. Our time there was to comfort him.

@Ckknowless I never said God can't perform miracles, he performs miracles in a different way. Jesus performed miracles publicly in front of many people. God performs miracles privately in people's lives so they can grow deeper in their faith

I haven't expanded on my own personal views and other stuff I know about deliverance ministry, demons and healing. I never denied that some people (who are not christian) may need deliverance from possession or oppression of demons and spiritual strongholds.
Once a person has gone through delivereance ministry and claimed their life for Jesus and baptised by water, spirit and fire no longer can that person be posessed by demons....(tho exception with mental health stuff)
but it is possible for born again chrisitans to be troubled and afflicted with demon oppression which is NOT the same as possession!!!
There are warnings for chrisitans who focus more on the darkness of demons than on the light of Jesus, be careful that you are not being drawn into the demons lare. How much in your christian life is made up of speaking, doing and living life around demons, possession etc... The best defence in dealing with demons is to worship Jesus, more.

Be very careful with your own perceptions, its not what you see but what God sees and He sees people who he loves so much and we are to do the same. Our focus us to be on Jesus NOT demons!!!!!
If you are a born again Christian, you believe Jesus as your saviour and that he saved you when he died on the cross, then no Christian will have any demons or possession but the hidden powers and demons may try and sometimes succed in oppressing your soul and spirit. Its nice to see mostly positive comments. How can we expect our children to treat others as they would like to be treated anymore? Jesus counseled us to love our neighbors, and to treat them with compassion, but this was when our neighbor lived next door and you had to see them every day. I hate the whole "emotions" argument... Jesus is LIFE, abundant, purpose, how can you separate fullness of joy, love, being overwhelmed by his presence from the emotions of your heart? It is a response to the love of Jesus.. If I were to take my feelings and emotions out of worshiping God, I would not be giving my heart to Him and Im pretty sure He doesnt want that kind of worship from me...
IHOP (international house of pancakes) is suing IHOP (international house of prayer) for using their acronym! There reasoning: they serve food at these church events, "so we are losing business by them using our famous acronym." Isn't this rediculous! Unless they issue an official apology, I'm never getting food from IHOP (restaraunt) again!

So everything about IHOP seems to be emotion-based. As a former Christian, I realize that these emotions are very real and powerful, but at the end of the day, the reality is that they are completely self-contained within the person experiencing them and not from a god.
@ohlordbabyjesus In relationship with God, emotions are there. But they are not the basis. We have established an awe and obedience to God, which grows an agape love, and when we are completely surrendered to His ways, the truly lasting emotions come. Sometimes, actually many times, I would agree with you about some people just feeling the emotion. However, at the end of the day, in those who are truly committed to Jesus, the emotion is indeed from the Holy Spirit. =] I think God misses you, btw
@ohlordbabyjesus actually, on saturday, 3 people that i was laying hands on at the ihop awakening fell to the ground after being overcome by the spirit...and that night the stage had about 20 people on it at once after they invited all the people who had been touched in a significant way to come up. there were DEEP testimonies by people who had been on drugs since 11, raped since 5, etc. God loves his children and loves the lost ones BEST.
@ohlordbabyjesus As a current believer, I agree that IHOP seems extremely emotion-based, and I don't think that's okay. Real relationship with God isn't about the way you feel, but about God's grace bestowed on your life when you don't deserve it. The negative reaction you have to IHOP is probably the same as I have, except that I still believe in Christ and fear that these people are replacing true salvation with the momentary happy feelings IHOP provides in place of the darkness in our hearts.
@rockyrock IHOP represents what happens when people devote all their time to God.When I have given X-number of hours even just seeking God in His Word,and talking to Him,He will touch you! You weep and Laugh and just are in His Presence. People express their Worship differently to JesusGod,and it does involve emotions for God.

They are in Worship of the Lord, how can any of us begin to judge fellow Christians for sharing videos of real heartfelt worship, afterall it is a worship minisitry and this is a video that they are sharing for everyone to see and hear Gods people worship. These people at IHOP still have lives to live, I am sure they do other things to help others, to serve God and also let their hair down you know like have a game of football or go iceskating etc. Worship touches us deeply!!!!!!!!

Misty Edwards is an amazing singer. She is a sinner like everyone else but when she worships, you can feel that her heart is all for God... I haven't personally met her but if i met her and she ignores me, i'll be happy not because i'm ignored but because it just reminded me that though she is a great worship leader, she's just a sinner like every one else who is forgiven by God :)

I went to IHOP in Kansas City when they first started out in a trailer. Misty Edwards always gave me really dirty glares. I don't know why. She NEVER said 'hi' to me either - just gave me dirty looks. It could be because of all the slander and gossip that is prevalent within IHOP. People just make up garbage about you there, and it gets completely out of control and spreads like a trojan virus.

To the IHOP haters : I grew up in a non-religious home. Any encounter with religion, aside from 'the nice stories' we got for a few years in primary school, always depressed me. So many churches focus on doom & gloom, say we're all going to hell. They never mention what Jesus died for. Until I discovered places like IHOP I wouldn't have touched Christianity with a barge pole.

I grew up in a religious Baptist church. Since everyone was so shallow & there was no real relationship with Jesus I fell into drugs & sexual immorality. I dont go to IHOP but a different non-denominational church & my whole life has been changed & I love Jesus now. Unfortunately, you who talk badly about IHOP & practice religion & not love for Jesus, you are going to get to heaven & you will say to God, "I was a good person & went to church" & He will say but I never knew you!!!!! The problem with this kind of praise and believe me I came through all this in the 90s- is that it FEELS SOO good but actually means nothing- " let me know that Im alive???? Any believer knows they are free -this self indulgent/romantic lyrical singing repetitveness is what Jesus warned us of . Sound teaching - one verse would be worth more than 6 hours of this. I have experienced healing miracles at Lourdes (very well accepted) and recently at Medjuggoria - in both places, the healing is done via natural processes, for the purposes of showing the presence of God and not for the sake of the miraculous phenomena themselves. These are very well accepted and researched by the Vatican. So divine healing is very real and accepted! Dont worry about it!

@funnyplace1 now if IHOP claims that miracles happen in their church by them praying for others then its very likely to be true. They should be humble of course. In my church there was a woman who came in and she couldnt move one of her hands. She went up to the altar and in front of EVERYONES eyes when people prayed for her, she lifted her hand up. This of course could not have been possiblle without faith and prayer. But a man & woman of God were used by him to help. God bless you.

The person is a mere vessel and its GOD who heals. He does the miracles, and uses people. people who are there to give God the glory. so if a church says that people have been healed from cancer, AIDS, anything, whatever it may be, then believe it.

Then after Pentecost, the apostles AND OTHERS did miracles. Have you not read the Book of Acts? And then Paul wrote in I Cor.12 about the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit given to every member of the Body of Christ, and two of them are “gifts of healings” and “the working of miracles.” The preaching of the gospel included demonstration of the Kingdom!

Jesus told us not to judge others, lest WE be judged by GOD, and He called those who do judge, “hypocrites” (Mt. 7:1-5). Secondly, be very careful not to do as the Pharisees did to Jesus. Because they could not do miracles, they claimed He did them by the power of satan, and that’s when Jesus warned them about speaking against the Holy Spirit: it will NEVER be forgiven (Mt 12:22-28). Mathew Henry’s Concise Commentary says this: “Though Christ is always ready to hear and answer holy desires and prayers, yet those who ask amiss, ask and have not. Signs were granted to those who desired them to confirm their faith, as Abraham and Gideon; but denied to those who demanded them to excuse their unbelief."

If this was true why do people have cancer, have broken lives? It's because God doesn't perform Amazing miracles through people, he does it through constant prayers and faith. Further, it says people were healed when Peter's shadow fell on them. Then, when Paul and and Barnabas had healings occur through their laying on of hands, the city people came out to worship them as if they were gods. Of course, GOD does the healing; but He uses human instruments.

I will say that I agree that miracles by nature - God chooses when and how (in Revelation we see the forces of darkness can do "false" miracles - as well as in Exodus) but men are the "agent". When I first started "interceding" and went to a hospital with others to pray for a man's healing. The man kept saying "thank you Lord for sending them".. a day later he died. Our time there was to comfort him.

God performs miracles for whom He wills, regardless of public or private. there is a distinct difference between a generation seeking a sign or proof that God exists, and the signs and wonders that Christians should seek after.

I haven't expanded on my own personal views and other stuff I know about deliverance ministry, demons and healing. I never denied that some people (who are not christian) may need deliverance from possession or oppression of demons and spiritual strongholds.
Once a person has gone through delivereance ministry and claimed their life for Jesus and baptised by water, spirit and fire no longer can that person be posessed by demons....(tho exception with mental health stuff)

but it is possible for born again chrisitans to be troubled and afflicted with demon oppression which is NOT the same as possession!!!
There are warnings for chrisitans who focus more on the darkness of demons than on the light of Jesus, be careful that you are not being drawn into the demons lare. How much in your christian life is made up of speaking, doing and living life around demons, possession etc... The best defence in dealing with demons is to worship Jesus, more.

Not its not saying that a human being who is a chritian cannot get PHYSICALLY ill like other humans just because they are a chrstian is not the same as SPIRITUAL inflicitons either possession or oppression.
Health, finances, relationship stuff affects ALL of us regardless of faith because we are all HUMAN!! its just that maybe christians have more access to more spiritual help in dealing with lifes problems, challenges that gets us through.

You say you perceived demons in people....well maybe they are not always demons your are seeing but the oppression of demons influence in someones life. Be very careful with your own perceptions, its not what you see but what God sees and He sees people who he loves so much and we are to do the same. Our focus us to be on Jesus NOT demons!!!!!

If you are a born again Christian, you believe Jesus as your saviour and that he saved you when he died on the cross, then no Christian will have any demons or possession but the hidden powers and demons may try and sometimes succed in oppressing your soul and spirit. The free-for-all that is the internet encourages hate and negativity and crude thinking. Jesus counseled us to love our neighbors, and to treat them with compassion, but this was when our neighbor lived next door and you had to see them every day. The internet is a mirror of our worst collective behaviors.

The internet has allowed many free expression of their hearts condition. A heart that is depraved without Christ which is the condition of us all.

By doing this, it makes the individual a target to demons. Jesus warned that the deceptive false prophets would be peaceful and pleasing to the flesh. I hate the whole "emotions" argument... Jesus is LIFE, abundant, purpose, how can you separate fullness of joy, love, being overwhelmed by his presence from the emotions of your heart? It is a response to the love of Jesus.. If I were to take my feelings and emotions out of worshiping God, I would not be giving my heart to Him and Im pretty sure He doesnt want that kind of worship from me...

IHOP (international house of pancakes) is suing IHOP (international house of prayer) for using their acronym! There reasoning: they serve food at these church events, "so we are losing business by them using our famous acronym." Isn't this rediculous! Unless they issue an official apology, I'm never getting food from IHOP (restaraunt) again!

So everything about IHOP seems to be emotion-based. As a former Christian, I realize that these emotions are very real and powerful, but at the end of the day, the reality is that they are completely self-contained within the person experiencing them and not from a god.

We have established an awe and obedience to God, which grows an agape love, and when we are completely surrendered to His ways, the truly lasting emotions come. Sometimes, actually many times, I would agree with you about some people just feeling the emotion. However, at the end of the day, in those who are truly committed to Jesus, the emotion is indeed from the Holy Spirit. =] I think God misses you, btw

@ohlordbabyjesus actually, on saturday, 3 people that i was laying hands on at the ihop awakening fell to the ground after being overcome by the spirit...and that night the stage had about 20 people on it at once after they invited all the people who had been touched in a significant way to come up. there were DEEP testimonies by people who had been on drugs since 11, raped since 5, etc. God loves his children and loves the lost ones BEST.

@ohlordbabyjesus As a current believer, I agree that IHOP seems extremely emotion-based, and I don't think that's okay. Real relationship with God isn't about the way you feel, but about God's grace bestowed on your life when you don't deserve it. The negative reaction you have to IHOP is probably the same as I have, except that I still believe in Christ and fear that these people are replacing true salvation with the momentary happy feelings IHOP provides in place of the darkness in our hearts.

You weep and Laugh and just are in His Presence. People express their Worship differently to JesusGod,and it does involve emotions for God.

They are in Worship of the Lord, how can any of us begin to judge fellow Christians for sharing videos of real heartfelt worship, afterall it is a worship minisitry and this is a video that they are sharing for everyone to see and hear Gods people worship. These people at IHOP still have lives to live, I am sure they do other things to help others, to serve God and also let their hair down you know like have a game of football or go iceskating etc. Worship touches us deeply!!!!!!!!

Misty Edwards is an amazing singer. She is a sinner like everyone else but when she worships, you can feel that her heart is all for God... I haven't personally met her but if i met her and she ignores me, i'll be happy not because i'm ignored but because it just reminded me that though she is a great worship leader, she's just a sinner like every one else who is forgiven by God :)

I went to IHOP in Kansas City when they first started out in a trailer. Misty Edwards always gave me really dirty glares. I don't know why. She NEVER said 'hi' to me either - just gave me dirty looks. It could be because of all the slander and gossip that is prevalent within IHOP. People just make up garbage about you there, and it gets completely out of control and spreads like a trojan virus.

Nothing wrong with speaking the truth. If I see read, I'll say, "I see red". If I see a tree, I'll say "I see a tree". If someone did something that's not right, I'm gonna say something about it - especially if it's a church leader.
