@WARP10CK omg i have the exact same story i went to school right when computer class was mandatory in my elementary school. all the computers were pc's. from the 1st grade all the way to the 10th grade i didn't even realize there was anything other then windows... then one day i enrolled in a music tech class and all the computers were macs... I WAS AMAZED!!! It took me 5 classes to really start to understand the mac but well worth it. now i am an apple lover and am posting from my ipod touch.

Well as someone who has been a windows user all his and just started to use mac at work all I can say is..... hang on (sells pc, throws windows cd in garbage and buys mac) ok im back I wanted too say that osx is very nice and quite like it.
I got Snow Leopard quite late in the game, but I still got it. My 1.5 TB harddrive had 1.0TB free, and when I installed Snow Leopard, it went back up to 1.1TBs. I also got about 30 GBs on my main harddrive back, and I have noticed a few nice new features like the new Expose, and its improved performance. I'm waiting to see what Lion's gonna look like, though. :D

Well actually, because I'm a student I upgraded from vista to 7 for 30 bucks. It's normally higher, but it brings alot more to the plate than Snow Leopard does to Leopard, it's a huge improvement so the price easily justifies itself.
Upgrading Windows cost's more cause Microsoft is mainly a software company and Apple is mainly a hardware company plus Apple sell and makes there own computers for a high price this is why they can make the new OS cheaper but Microsoft like I said there mainly a software company so they sell there software at a higher price to make profit if the sold Windows for @29 bucks they would be loosing money not making money.

I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard for 30 dollars. Go to bestbuy and get the disk. U can upgrade from tiger as well as leopard. It did not delete anything on my hard drive. I got like 5gigs back and it's like 70% faster than tiger. Upgrade, guys. It will change mac's forever!

I don't understand why 6 or even 10 gigs is that big of a deal. Maybe its just me since i got like 2 terabytes of space its just not as important to me. But even when i had only 200 gigs 6 gigs didn't really matter since most games now a days or movies I download or like loads of cds take up way more then that.

Idiot. It's in the keyboard. You press a certain key to mute it, or to make it higher or lower. Many people says mac sucks, it's just because they don't know how to use it.
Firstly.. don't throw around personal insults. No one is threatening you personally.
Secondly, the volume keys control the system volume - they have nothing to do with QuickTime. Thirdly, for people using professional audio interfaces they wont work and anyway its entirely beside the point. Unless its hidden in some odd combination of key commands, there is NO volume control for QT FINDER PREVIEWS - only a mute on and off.
QTX has is nowhere near the comprehensive functionality QT7 Pro had!
usually you can get similar software which works fine on both types, so technically they aren't many advantages or disadvantages with regards to what you can do on either. prefering one os over the other is one thing, or finding one better value, but consider the music industry. that lives on macs with the software logic, yet cubase for pc is similarly powerful if you are good with it. a good example of there being no need to make a distinction most of the time.
Grand central and opencl both require developers to write those factors into their programs for those to be taken advantage of. We'll have to wait and see about when and if programmers will adopt this technology
You are very anti Windows. You mention toward the end of your video that to upgrade from XP to Vista it is over £100 dollars but to upgrade from Mac X Leopard to Snow Leopard is only $30 dollars. Well that is the wrong way to look at it. It should be from Vista to Windows 7 not XP to Vista. If you don't load all the printer drivers, because it goes and gets just the ones you need for only the printers you use, and don't load all the crazy languages, you can gain way more than 6 GB. I gained more than 10 GB.

By 64-bit what do you mean? The Kernel or one of the apps? An OS is made up of several parts. Because the AMD64 arch. can run both 32-bit code and 64-bit code at the same time you can have a mixed environment. For the most part, OSX has been 64-bit at the kernel level for some time. The libraries and what not are a different story. I'd wage a dollar and say that it is 64-bit enough for you.
the kernel i believe. im not sure tho. i heard the new windows 7 would have a 64 bit OS so the memory capibility would be up to 100+ gigs compared to the 32 bit vista which the highest memory is about 4 or so gigs. so would OSX/ SL be as capable as W7-64 bit, in terms of memory is what im asking.
Ah! I see. Yeah most OS memory limits is software based / slightly hardware based. Old Intel Xeon boards had a nifty memory controller that Windows 2000+ could trick into allowing 32GB of RAM in 32-bit. 64-bit, in theory, allows up to 16EB (16 000 000 000 GB). Mac OS X however puts the cap at 16 TB (16 000 GB), Windows puts the cap at 2 TB in 64-bit mode. Linux sets the limit at 64 TB There are a couple of other things that prevent the full use of 64-bit space, just wikipedia x86-64.

Quicktime X is absolutely NOT Quicktime Pro "on steroids" Its an incredibly dummed down version with hardly any of the functions QT 7 had.

OK Smart guy, tell me where all the the export features are - You know, the ones we've had in QT Pro for generations?
Where is the Volume control in the finder preview?? - or in any embedded QT movie or sound on the web??

Idiot. It's in the keyboard. You press a certain key to mute it, or to make it higher or lower. Many people says mac sucks, it's just because they don't know how to use it.

Firstly.. don't throw around personal insults. No one is threatening you personally.
Secondly, the volume keys control the system volume - they have nothing to do with QuickTime. Thirdly, for people using professional audio interfaces they wont work and anyway its entirely beside the point. Unless its hidden in some odd combination of key commands, there is NO volume control for QT FINDER PREVIEWS - only a mute on and off.
QTX has is nowhere near the comprehensive functionality QT7 Pro had!

windows doesn't have viruses. viruses are online. if you download a lot of crap, you'll get it. people who are smart don't get viruses.
anyway, windows is extremely flexible, it has much more compatibility with 3rd party software and hardware, unlike mac OSs.
myself, i think i'll still be using both. macs are better for work/college and windows pcs are better for fun/home use, etc...

usually you can get similar software which works fine on both types, so technically they aren't many advantages or disadvantages with regards to what you can do on either. prefering one os over the other is one thing, or finding one better value, but consider the music industry. that lives on macs with the software logic, yet cubase for pc is similarly powerful if you are good with it. a good example of there being no need to make a distinction most of the time.

Grand central and opencl both require developers to write those factors into their programs for those to be taken advantage of. We'll have to wait and see about when and if programmers will adopt this technology

Mac X Leopard .....Snow Leopard =$30
Oh and Vista has way more stuff, Leopard is coming with very little new. Yes its giving you 6gb back but its not giving you much anyway.
Windows 7 has loads better and it not going to take anything. In fact I've gained some back.

You are very anti Windows. You mention toward the end of your video that to upgrade from XP to Vista it is over £100 dollars but to upgrade from Mac X Leopard to Snow Leopard is only $30 dollars. Well that is the wrong way to look at it. It should be from Vista to Windows 7 not XP to Vista. And its only $30 dollars if you already have Mac X to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 it is $15 dollars. Some places do charge $30 dollars but not many..Continued...

If you don't load all the printer drivers, because it goes and gets just the ones you need for only the printers you use, and don't load all the crazy languages, you can gain way more than 6 GB. I gained more than 10 GB.

By 64-bit what do you mean? The Kernel or one of the apps? An OS is made up of several parts. Because the AMD64 arch. can run both 32-bit code and 64-bit code at the same time you can have a mixed environment. For the most part, OSX has been 64-bit at the kernel level for some time. The libraries and what not are a different story. I'd wage a dollar and say that it is 64-bit enough for you.

the kernel i believe. im not sure tho. i heard the new windows 7 would have a 64 bit OS so the memory capibility would be up to 100+ gigs compared to the 32 bit vista which the highest memory is about 4 or so gigs. so would OSX/ SL be as capable as W7-64 bit, in terms of memory is what im asking.

Ah! I see. Yeah most OS memory limits is software based / slightly hardware based. Old Intel Xeon boards had a nifty memory controller that Windows 2000+ could trick into allowing 32GB of RAM in 32-bit. 64-bit, in theory, allows up to 16EB (16 000 000 000 GB). Mac OS X however puts the cap at 16 TB (16 000 GB), Windows puts the cap at 2 TB in 64-bit mode. Linux sets the limit at 64 TB There are a couple of other things that prevent the full use of 64-bit space, just wikipedia x86-64.

the only reason that yu get hard drive space back is that the measure a byte as 1000 instead of the 1024 it is actually almost the same size but they use a fake mesurment

mac is onliy beautiful an have a lot of apps, but has a lot of vulnerabilities as well as windows. yo can not configure mac because it is privative, and Gnu, can run without graphics, is for it that 99% web pages run GNU, and 1% window$, Mac is privative software and you know that apple is 'looking' what you are doing as webb as windows.

upon everything being faster and better with this update, i wanted to also add the one and only con to this upgrade
my macbook fan is louder and more audible cus the processor is working harder. probabaly reduced the life of my macbook by a few months but im all good.

no, but Apple does those as well. It occasionally tells you to update software, which is a closer equivalent to MS Windows service packs.
As I understand it, the software has been rewritten to take better advantage of resources.

You know, you cant compare upgrading XP to Vista with 10.5 to 10.6 its more like a Service Pack upgrade for Windows which you dont get charged for.
On the Whole SL looks like L just has a bit more functionality and polish.
I did manage to secure Windows 7 Home Premium Full Retail for £44 and Pro for £88 thanks to the EU and its anti-trust laws
Compare Mac hardware prices to PC then you see the difference =D
