  • Barbra Streisand has the most raw talent a d has been around for 50 years so she is the best to me

  • They are all wonderful, but Whitney and Christina are the best to me, along with BABS who was just out of this world so young.

  • ps- whitney is only 19 here

  • you don´t choose the best performance of Mariah in this year , Vanishing is better !

  • Celia Dion look ugly, jejeje

  • @stredev u look ugly jajajaja

  • @discorules2009 Ok maybe she doesn´t look ugly, but the dress , OMG !!!!!!!!!!!! and the hair , jejejeje . Honestly she looks better now.

  • @stredev well its the 80s man, obviously if you look at it with 2011 standarts well its fucking ugly but it was pretty back then.....

  • Christina Aguilera WINS

  • Agnetha Fältskog is missing in this video. Noone can convey sadness like her:

    /watch?v=hjHu10L_C9E

  • Lara Celine Super

  • @culturemp3dotcom

I think you could mixed the 'end version' of one of MARIAH'S following songs: 'Without you', 'hero', 'O holy night', 'Fly like a bird', etc...

At those songs she takes something by storm.

  • la mejor celine

  • It's a pity Christina can't sing like that anymore....

  • Whitney is the best of all....she is called "The Voice"

  • Celine :3

  • La mejor Barbra Streisand

  • you could of chosen a better performance of Mariah, for example Vision Of Love at the apollo theater or vanishing at SNL rehearsal. anyways nice video. Mariah Whitney And Celine are my top favs vocally.

  • it's interesting that nobody really mentions Beyonce.

  • @fionasfullhouse Good...

  • Christina e Whitney is the best!!!

  • Whitney forever

  • Laraaaaaaaaaaa.... :))

    <3

  • MARIAH of course and then whitney! celine nasal weird voice, xtina growls and screams all belts and barbara has just sustained notes! mariah & whitney best!

  • 1 celine

    2 mariah

    3 xtina

  • Think you know your divas?

Match the divas with their songs

    Mariah

    Celine

    Whitney

Which diva sang about regretting an abortion?

Which diva sang about being in love with a gay man

Which diva sang about taking recreational drug?

  • @RelicHunter321 what are the answers? i wanna know :)

  • Comment removed

  • wow xtina just loves to butcher songs. "climb every mountain" is one of my fav songs and she just had to go and ruin that too!

  • When it goes from the video of christina to mariah u see how much better rounded christinas voice is. Mariah has no voice now! At all! And when she does her stupid high nots as empressive as they are they're just bird whistles..when mariah sings her chest and her head it sounds like two different people! Its bizarre

  • @MsSmithers13 And excesive runas aren't impressive neighter. Mariah can be everything, christina can't stop sounding strained and it's really painful to hear when she tries too hard. Mariah's voice can be eveything and has always had that bipolarity , so she sound as raspy and as smooth as she wants. And Christina's " whistles" are very sharp.

  • ugh i was loving this clip till Beyonce came on at the end. she doesnt belong on this list of great voices. shes not the same caliber as the others here. shes good, not legendary when it comes to vocals.

  • 1.Mariah\ Whitney

    2.Barbra

    3.Lara

    4.Celine

    5. Christina

  • 1- Mariah

    2- Celine

    3- Whitney

    4- Christina/Barbra/ Lara

  • Lara Fabian, Babs and Xtina! yay.

  • @NiymbleFingers I totally agree about Lara, and this other video shows how she not only had a great voice at her 20s, but also managed to keep it intact up until now, in her 40s: watch?v=Z8QIbDnKiFc .

Barbra is incredible as well! But Xtina? Technically, she's sooo below the level of the others =O I do think she's passionate, though, and in a couple of performances (like "It's a Man's World"), it actually compensates her flaws a bit.

  • @DespicabIe I agree about Xtina's dangerous vocal technique, but she's definately has one of the most distinctive voices. I feel in love with the album Stripped. But Lara Fabian is my favorite and thank you for the link! I hope this isn't the end of the true female vocalists. I doubt many of the entertainers that are huge today will be worth listening to when they're in their 40s. :(

  • @NiymbleFingers Yes, some of the songs in Stripped really caught my attention. One or two in her Back to Basics album too. I'm not too confident on the endurance of the new stars either =\

  • chimier is fucking annoying...

  • laraaaaaaaaaaaaa then celine!!their voices are really PpOWERFFuULLLLL

  • Whitney, Mariah and Babs for me ^o^

  • mariah is the best

  • i think for these woman are insparations as a singer i look up to mariah, celine . Withney Aritha franklin barbara streisand all the big singer of my generation to say that one have more talent ten the other i cant agree they have all something i love and i think it is more a question of taste

  • I would say:

    1- Christina Aguilera

    2- Leona Lewis

    3- Charice

    4- Beyonce/Jennifer Hudson

  • thumbs up if you think celine has only gotten better with age :)

  • Leona Lewis? The Best? Hahahaha She's good... But not that good...

  • Christina delivers too much tackiness to be classed as the voice, the top 5 voices of today are

    1. Leona Lewis

    2. Beyonce

    3 Jennifer Hudson

    4.Christina Aguilera

    5. Charice Pempengco

  • @DanScot19 Nah, I reckon it's Christina, Beyonce/Jennifer Hudson, Leona

  • @kblueman fairplay. I just prefer Leona. the other 4 dont really matter.

  • @DanScot19 Haha, I guess when they're all great singers it's just a matter of personal taste.

  • dang celine looks bad lol

  • Whitney is 19 in this video NOT 20....

  • haha i left this video months ago and chimier is still on it. seriously? haha

  • @Chimier oops. i meant to say i like Celine Dion alot. ok i confess. Celine is my guilty pleasure hehe.

  • @Chirnier Yes, Celine is YOUR guilty pleasure, not mine.

  • @Chimier actualy shes half the planets guilty pleasure, lol

  • @Chirnier Or not. She's sold 220 million records. Half the planet is a bit over 3 billion. You obviously can't count.

  • @Chimier well at leats i'm glad your finally admitted Celine sold more records than Mariah. you have a good day now ya hear LOL

  • @Chirnier It wasn't something I ever denied....bye bye lcd2201

  • @lcd2201 No thanks. I love how you've been stalking me on three videos. I stay on your mind, huh?

  • All of their voices at 20 were brand new out of the box, Christina's voice was amazing, ridden with power, Mariah's was that of an angel - so smooth. Celine's was very strong, she sounded amazing (and still does). Whitney's was just incredible, she sounded so young as she was, so natural and pretty phenomenal. Barbara's was exquisit, so angellic. Tina's was very powerful, very touching too. Beyonce's had a "school girl" tone to her voice, but now, she's a woman and her voice is AMAZING.

  • @MichaelTaiwanese hey barbra is singing "when the sun comes out"

  • Celine will never be in Mariah's "touch my body" category. Celine is classic, ask: Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, Luciano Pavorotti, The Bee Gees, Andrea Bocelli, Barbra Streisand, and R. Kelly. Let's not even talk about the French legends. And she lives what she sings. You'll never hear gossip about Celine and her vagina. She married for love and is still married. Is humble, civil, and approachable. Is not "diva"! And she can still sing, and gets better with age. Ask the Oscars!

  • @bconsitt I know, I guess I accidentally blocked you then...unblocked lol! So sorry! :/

  • @bconsitt OMG I accidentally blocked you! Sorry lol! You've been unblocked!

  • @bconsitt Why not?

  • As a trained singer who sang professionally for many years let me say the WHOLE upper body from stomach to nose resonates & every singer uses different areas to create different tones. Barbara Streisand refused to get a nose job for fear of how it would affect her voice!

  • @jasonjonesesquire that's is so true. I am a tenor and a singer as well, @chimier know nothing about music.

  • for me whitney and mariah has the clearest chest registers. they sing in pure chest. xtina sounded so much throaty, while celine and lara are so nasal they create so much distortion in their voices. now between the two, its just a matter of preference. I like mariah cause she sounds so youthful, and when she sings ballads she sounds like crying beautifully. and what sets her apart from these belters is that she can sing in the whistle range. go mariah!!!!!

  • celine remains to be one of the most powerful vocal >> powerhouse. she could use a chest voice in almost impossible note (F#5). with no gud technique, sure it will break one's voice like what happened to mariah or whitney. but celine, barbara, and lara r true singer who could carry such a brilliant technique and of course save their voices.

  • mariah and whitney were untouchables during her old days...

  • Celine remains the best vocalist in the world with a great technique. above all, she sings with a high sensibility of music which makes her music acceptable at any terms and conditions. proficiat!

  • Celine's Rule!!!

  • The video that has Whitney singing was presented whrere??which show??

  • IM SORRY I LOVE MARIAH TO DEATH SO YAHH I PICK HER

  • they are all amazing.. even celine dion lol

  • christina aguilera has the greatest voice ever. so incredible *-*

  • ...what language is celine singing in...french?

  • lara fabian 100%

  • Voice really changes a bit as we age. A 20 year old woman wouldn't sound like 20-year old when she's 40 or 50. But the challenge for singers is that, the voice should sound "as if nothing changed" when they are singing. Voice really change but a "damaged" sound isn't normal though.

  • They are all good! Wow Celine's current voice is as powerful and clear as before. Though she aged, her voice remains the same. Celine should receive "voice preservation award" if there's that kind of award though~ haha. I've head that Celine pampers her voice as a spoiled poodle. I heard Barbra does that too. (though Barbra's voice has changed a bit, it still has the beauty and power she had 40 years ago.) Voice would really change because of age, that's natural.

  • Whitney Houston Vocally destroyed all these ladies at age 20...A once in a lifetime superstar made her debut with her performance here

  • Whitney Houston

  • these are all very GREAT singers, but taking into consideration everthing regarding albums, tours, where their VOICE is NOW, definitely CELINE!!!! whitney was an exceptinal singer but nowadays she cant hit the very high notes especially in her current world tour OMG :?

    / so sad

  • LARA FABIAN LARA FABIAN LARA FABIAN LARA FABIAN 4EVER !!!!!!!!!

  • Barbra is the best artist, Whitney showed why she is THE VOICE, Mariah was great, Lara was nice....The other two remind me of Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

  • Celine is the best. Christina comes second (for me)

  • 1. whitney-power/clarity/vibrato

    2. mariah-range/whistle register

    3. celine-power (but less than whit)/vibrato (but less than whit)

    4. lara-even though i've never heard of her. thats how honest i am

    5. barbra-sounds good but idk

    6. christina-would be higher than barbra if she knew how to control her voice.

    7. beyonce-my favorite singer besides whit n mariah n again thats how honest i am

I also noticed that most ppl dont appreciate deep voices such as toni braxt n gladys knight

  • whitney is the best off all :) but the rest can sing to ! even beyonce

  • I liked the second singer the best, the one in the short little cocktail dress with the guys to her left. Who the hell was in the Phantom costume.

  • @DaveinDallas2009 The 2nd singer was Mariah Carey :D She has much better performances than this :P

  • theses are all when they were still young in age and sorta just starting up. so look at the ones that are STILL kicking ass!

  • Whitney is by far the best then celin then maria and barbra (tied) as far as christina she's great but not on their level and beyonce good but not even at christina's level so really not even close to whitney and them....true story :)

  • Larita es la mejor del mundo=)

  • After those amazing voices, Beyonce looks like an after thought plonked on the end!

  • WHITNEY IS CLEARLY THE BEST!!!! LISTEN DONT PICK THE ONE U LIKE THE MOST BUT THE ONE THAT CAN ACTUALLY SING!!!

  • @weathersinger not anymore crack took it all away :'( she is done...

  • Um, what the HELL is Beyonce doing in this video?

Christina has a good voice, but no idea how to use or control it (especially upper register).

Mariah is great, but really Whitney is the best, that's why she's earned the title "THE VOICE." Such strength, power, control, and softness!!!

  • @GoldieGlitters Because beyonce is a great singer you idiot.

  • whitney,celine, mariah, christina.

  • whats the name of the song that barbara streisand sang? that was fuckn amazing

    !

  • @dechav1 Hi Barbra is singing 'When the Sun Comes Out" this was recorded for her 1965 tv special My Name is Barbra when she was 23 and yeah you're right it is a stunning performance, it's so in the moment!

  • Lara fabian for life.....Je t'adore....!!

  • abosolutely WHITNEY! her voice was both angelic and powerful back then, loved it oh and her vibrato, it's just the best :D

  • XTINA!!!!!!!! Amazing for such a tinny girl to have vocals like that and to blow all them queens out

  • I hate when people say they can't sing. Its one thing to not prefer someone's voice but say Mariah Carey can't sing is a damn lie. lol

  • Lara is the best ²

What is the name of first song (Xtina)

  • Lara is the best!!!!

  • I think the song that knocks all of whineys challengers down is A Quiet Place performance. If you wanna really a pure gift from god imto vocals I recommend to watch it. I think they should put it in here.

  • really celine

  • MARIAH #1

  • They are all wonderful, fantastic singers. But Barbra's performance is a step above, it moved me; being such a great actress too, she knows how to deliver and play the part.

  • lmfaooooooooooooooooo @ celine.

  • well they all share one thing in common..They were all a hot mess in there 20's..look much better now than back then!

  • Love mariah s cover from Aretha ... When she was a decent singer .. love xtina .. respect Celine for who she is ... Whitney for who she was !

  • 4:25 to 4:50 was untouchable!

  • Celine Dion's voice is a gift from God, both to her and to her listeners. I respect all the other people in this video, but Celine Dion is completely flawless.

  • When Mariah Carey was 20, she was untouchable. All the rest are great, but Mariah was and is wonderful

  • Cada uno tiene lo suyo ¡Excelentes todas!

  • Whitney Houston; then and now

  • The person who made this should have put a clip of Mariah doing one of her own songs. Mariah's songs are...ridiculous in terms of vocal difficulty.

  • "Whitney Houston was recording that day in the adjoining studio. "I know she can reach that F and hold it as long as necessary," David made a point of adding. I didn't say a word. I knew it was a kind of game. And I decided to play it all the way. I went back into the studio. I sang "All by Myself" with all my strength, all my soul, and all my rage. When it came time to climb to that famous F, I pushed my voice to the maximum, to the point of hurting it, and held the note for a very long time".

  • @Chimier David Foster denied saying that in an interview by CBCtv which has since been blocked. Although I'm only 75% sure that was the interview so I'll keep searching. Rachelle Ferrel's was good but was it all chest? Like I said given the circumstances there was minimum strain especially not any that make unimpressive or undesirable to listen to.

  • @PsuedoSenator Does it matter if it was all chest? The more mixed the sound is (when done CORRECTLY), the better placement the singer has, the more resonance the singer has, thus the more control. Celine just belted at the climax, creating a nice, but strained moment. Rachelle just did it. No strain...AND she ascended to a G#5 at the end.

  • @PsuedoSenator Be 100% sure first before you make claims.

  • @Chimier I'm 100% sure he said it. I'll just put it this way, no one could replicate that F5 that Celine did in All by Myself and do it better. Celine can hit an F5 without strain--one I know off the top of my head, which is live, is around 3:09 on her LCMM performance ArsenioHall on LeonardCheng's channel.

  • @PsuedoSenator I didn't ask if you were 100% sure if he said it. I was talking about being 100% sure that's the interview.

I'd hope no one would be able to replicate that F5...it would hurt their voice like it did Celine's. And many do F5s better. Beyonce, Whitney, Aretha, Barbra, Mariah.

  • @Chimier Well you didn't specify. Anyway, he said it. Well I don't even think they could hope to be able to replicate it vocally so that is something in itself. Celine's best F5 is All by Myself.

  • @PsuedoSenator Yes, that's her best F5, but other singers have done better. You may PREFER Celine's F5 to others, but by no means does that make it the best one. It takes more of an understanding than the one you have to even make such a decision.

  • @Chimier You can keep your petty personal mini-attacks to yourself. It's not about what I prefer or what you prefer it's about the truth. The truth can't be determined by you or me alone.

  • @PsuedoSenator Oh, it can. And the truth is Celine's F5 was thin, strained and had no power to it. Loud- check. Power- nope. Nice climax, though.

  • @Chimier If you want to hear a thin note listen to Celine's ABM at the Millennium Concert. It was loud, some strain but not much, and powerful indeed. Others can decide or themselves if they search "Celine dion all by myself 2008" and click the first video under the search bar.

  • @PsuedoSenator It wasn't powerful. A powerful note is effortless with little to no strain at all and resonates like crazy.

I don't need to listen to one certain note for an example of Celine's thin voice. She's thin on the majority of her notes.

  • @PsuedoSenator Most people don't know what resonance is and, like you, confuse it with a loud voice.

  • @Chimier It has as much resonance as any other note in terms of amount, but it is not proportional to the loudness perhaps. You should adjust your theory to that.

  • @PsuedoSenator Um, sorry it doesn't. Resonance is achieved by proper placement (i.e. singing in the mask or the sinus cavities of the head). Celine was doing neither. I don't need to adjust anything, you just need to know what you're talking about, which you clearly don't. What you said made absolutely NO SENSE.

  • @PsuedoSenator This is a serious question. Do you know what resonance is and what it takes to achieve it?

  • @Chimier I know what resonance is, indeed. Intensity is a one word synonym. I don't study the anatomy so I can't help you there, but I can hear it.

  • @PsuedoSenator Do you know what it takes to ACHIEVE a resonant sound in singing?

  • @Chimier Yeah, I thought not.

  • @Chimier I said that I do not know know vocal anatomy nor am I a vocalist. But I know it when I hear it, and I have gotten a professional opinion on Celine's resonance from a renowned vocal teacher based in New York. Celine Dion is one of the most prolific singers of the last 20 years of course she sings with resonance. She wouldn't have a career if she didn't. She has an incredibly trained singing voice.

  • @PsuedoSenator Having/not having resonance doesn't determine if someone gets a career, so if that's what he told you...methinks you need to look somewhere else.

You don't even know how resonance is achieved, thus I doubt you know it when you hear it.

  • @Chimier He's not using that logic LOL I'm not surprised you want to interpret that way.

It's quite easy to identify or detect something without knowing how it works. Your reasoning is very faulty. Anyway, I've contacted someone who is much more knowledgeable than you and gotten an opinion. Trust me your biased application of incomplete, unofficial knowledge from theblueangel becomes atomized in the face of a professional vocal coach who can SING himself.

  • @PsuedoSenator "Anyway, I've contacted someone who is much more knowledgeable than you and gotten an opinion"- Uh huh.

Did he explain to you why Celine's voice was so thin? Or the fact that she pushes like hell to get out notes? Did he explain where she resonates (i.e. the mask)? I doubt it.

  • @PsuedoSenator Please don't tell me your "source" was Kevin Richards from NYC Rock the Stage...please don't. I'll DIE!

  • @Chimier It actually was Kevin Richards from NYC Rock the Stage. I only left him anonymous because I didn't want an urchin like you sliming up his Youtube. I know for certain he knows more than you--and he does know what it takes to achieve resonance. He does it himself when he sings.

  • @PsuedoSenator OMG...that guy? Have you seen his credentials? Wow!

As for his teaching on resonance, can you explain him talking about things that don't even EXIST, such as "chest resonance"? HAHAHAHAHA! My goodness, you've got a lot to learn, don't you?

  • @Chimier I've HEARD his credentials in both his performances and in his videos. He obviously knows what he is talking about. Subject Matter Expert from Modern Vocalist. Stop right there--that's more than you. Chest is a vocal resonance area. Hence, chest area.

  • @PsuedoSenator "I've HEARD his credentials in both his performances and in his videos"- Uh huh. Dod you also "hear" his credentials in graphic design too? LOL!

The chest is NOT a vocal resonance area (vocal resonator). Resonance happens ABOVE the vocal cords. You fail. Again.

  • @Chimier What I was saying was that this is someone who knows to sing himself quite well. I've also heard him explaining his knowledge outright--which yeah won him that award. Well like I said I don't know the anatomy, but I'm sure he does. I'm not afraid to go to a higher and better authority on the matter. Mr. Richards sided with me, not you. So stop debating the resonance--or get your own source saying Celine doesn't have any.

  • @PsuedoSenator You're sure he does? I'm sure he doesn't, especially when his credentials are all over the internet.

I don't care who sided with you. The fact that I know WAY more than you in the subject and the fact that your source is very minsinformed just serves in my favor. Chest resonance...HA!

Celine has no resonance. Loud voice, yes. Resonance, no. Her voice is very forced. A forced voice doesn't achieve a resonant sound. She's very belty, yes, but thin and piercing.

  • @Chimier I'm sure he does what? You will deny experts as long as you prove that you know more than someone else? If I say Celine has resonance and a professional agrees with me serves in your favor. You're saying Kevin Richards is "very misinformed"....what makes you say that? Is your answer "chest resonance"..Hey why not comment in his video and dispute it there. Or better yet dispute him yourself. Test your knowledge on someone who KNOWS MORE.

  • @PsuedoSenator Expert? The guy is far from an expert? Check his credentials. Not one, apart from being the head of NYCRock the Mic is related to music.

It serves in my favor because he talks a lot of nonsense. You know what his motto is? His philosophy was: "Throw away what's useless and keep what works". He said it on a comment on one of his vids.

I don't need to comment on his vids. Many have done that already and he hasn't even replied back. I wonder why...

  • @Chimier I commented once and got a reply back in a day. You'll just make yourself look foolish.

  • @PsuedoSenator I didn't comment. I sent a message. A few days ago. Big difference.

  • @Chimier Anyway I could get a copy-pasted PM of the PM you sent to him?

  • @PsuedoSenator I have my source, remember? Someone who actually has a degree in music....not an award from an internet site.

You may have an opinion, but not enough knowledge to make the right one. You can find all the vocal coaches you want, but the true ones don't spout nonsense like "chest resonance" and don't equate thin high head-driven mixes to a full voice.

  • @Chimier Degree in voice performance or a degree in music? Very different things. Just watch his videos. Your not knowledgeable to platform content like that nor are you actually knowledgeable enough to teach people how to sing..you're just knowledgeable enough to do well on a vocab quiz of vocal terminology it seems. You don't know more than him, and if you do prove it to him and or me--preferably him. If he's misinformed and you prove you could save people lots of money for lessons.

  • @PsuedoSenator Do you know how many types of music degrees there are? There are quite a few: vocal performance, music performance, musicology, music theory, music therapy etc.

  • @PsuedoSenator I've watched MANY of his vids a week ago, then I read his comments and laughed. You're here trying to tell me about MY knowledge in the stuff, but do you actually have any yourself? Nope.

I never said I knew "more" than him. This ain't about knowing more, but about being correct. He says a lot of incorrect stuff. I don't care enough for others to save them money. People will do what they want anyway.

  • @Chimier Obviously when I say he knows more than you I'm talking about correct stuff. Who ever uses the dichotomy you just used when talking about knowledge.

    1. What is he so off-base on? 2. He knows his stuff, he uses his own knowledge to sing... Don't try to correct him and if you do, doing so in a third-party manner means you have little respect for the advancement of vocal understanding.

  • @PsuedoSenator "ever uses the dichotomy you just used when talking about knowledge"- A lot of people, but you wouldn't know, neither do I expect you to.

1- Resonance- Chest resonance doesn't exist.

2- His "mixed" sound (which he compared to gospel belting)- Just a thin, head-driven note.

3- He even said he's breaking some of the rules of SLS, the most widely used vocal training for modern singers, which gets its stuff from bel canto technique in classical.

  • @Chimier So you say he knows more than you, but on the things you both "know" he is incorrect? DOUBT IT. Google "Chest Resonance" and 1.3 million entries will come up, also Google.."BelCantoSociety *dot* org Chest resonance"... What did he say about mixed voice that was incorrect? It seems your taking stuff out of context as well.

  • @PsuedoSenator Googling "chest resonance" doesn't verify it as something authentic. Or have you never heard of a MISNOMER?
