みなさん本当にお疲れ様でした。
さて、５月６日、福田首相は胡錦涛の来日をまるで親友を迎えるかのように笑顔で歓迎しました。
その姿は、「中国による人権侵害を日本政府は黙認しますよ。」と言っているかのようでした。おそらく、中国だけでなく、世界もそのようなメッセージを福田首相から受け取ったでしょう。
これに対し、長野で、東京で、横浜で、名古屋で、大阪で、その他の場所で、またはインターネット上で、あるいは別の手段で、多くの人々が抗議行動に参加しました（そして今も継続中です）。
私は、この抗議行動があったからこそ、日本は今もかろうじて民主主義世界の仲間でいられるのだ、と思います。
おおげさな話ではありません。
想像してみてください。
聖火リレーが北朝鮮のように何の混乱もなく整然と行われ、福田首相が胡錦涛を笑顔で迎えている、という恐ろしい映像を。
そのとき、世界は日本をどう見るでしょうか？世界の中で日本の立場はいったいどうなるのでしょうか？
そう考えたとき、みなさんの抗議行動は日本にとってどれほど価値のあることでしょう。計り知れません。
