Shame these guys never got the international recognition they deserved when they were at the peak of their songwriting abilities. Their first 3 albums still rank high with me. Is Pretty Paracetomol here?
Man, I havent heard this for like 20 years but still remember all the words. I used to play it endlessly, it was on some greatest hits of 87 or 88 compilation tape that had lot of other awesome songs.
Awesome. There is such a dark and deep soul to this song. Really stands head and shoulders above alot of the soulless pop garbage churned out in the 80's period
love this song so much does anyone know the guitar tabs for it would love to do an acoustic cover but cant find the tabs anywhere on the net please email me if you know the chords at kc27@mail.com
Kids...I was a kid when listening to this, and fleeting thought about not waiting for the perfect day. Well I did make the mistake waiting for the perfect day, kids, wife, mortgage far too late in life. A verse in this song can be sung about me...hindsight is a luxory, you'll never have.
Could never remember the name of this song or band, all I could remember was come for a day but stay for a week. Heard it on the radio the other day and first time in over 20 years since I heard it, now found it,brings back memories of the '80s and growing up in that era as a child in Australia, pure gold.
There song really does affect me when I listen to the Music geez there were some Great bands going around in those day and Fischer Z where at the top of my list
I love this song - saw them live at Reading Rock festival in the early 80's, and they won over a hostile crowd - fantastic. You can't listen to this on your ipod without smiling!
no need to apologize for the quality. in this age of digital crystal clarity, it's nice to see a video with some 'character' of its period. thx for putting this up!
This hit the charts in 1988 in Australia. So long was a hit in 1980. Two awesome songs - listen to them both. (I live in the UK now - where this group originates).
It seems if you want to hear good music, one must search back in time, such a pity. apart from a few innovative bands, 1990s, 2000a, are a wasteland for good music. I feel sorry for this generation, I really do.
I kind of agree with you on that... I was born 1993, so still a young boy.. But hell, I'd give anything to grow up with music like this... Although I think there's still some good music around these days, nothing beats bands like Fischer-Z or Dire Straits=)
I remember getting up on Sunday mornings to watch this video when it was in the charts here in Australia. Did you know a singer called Darren Hanlon covered this as a b side (and i think the original backing vocalist did the backing vocals again)
@craigca3 I was exactly the same. I enjoyed this song thoroughly as a child and got so excited everytime I heard it on the radio. I forgot about it, until one day it was played on the radio and had my Samsung F480 and it's music recognition features! Great song
Wasn't this song released after a few year layoff between songs/records? The reason why I say that is because this is a cool song...and most times when bands take that time off they come back with a horse shit effort..not here though..nice song.
I have been trying to find the video for this song for ages. It must be 10 years since I last saw it (on an old video of 'the chart show' from 1988). Fantastic song thanks for sharing it. (p.s. the quality isn't too bad at all)
I still recall watching this on Saturday morning on Rage while in Year 9. Some of the pop songs that made it to the Aussie Top 40 in the late 1980s were classics.
Perfect Day was a hit in 1988 and So Long was in 1980. I suppose they spent 8 years as a one hit wonder in Australia until Perfect Day put them back on the charts.

Silly people who think the 80s were a period of bad music.
This is just one of countless examples of great music, I bet you will find it hard to find comparable music in the 2000's.
