I have an Iphone 4 and an Omnia 7, and they both rock, but on the Omnia 7 I can connect to my XBOX account and buy games anywhere, I can open Excel/Word files with ease and upload music without having to go thru a piece of crappy software like iTunes. So, don't give me "Apple is the best" speaches, I have them both and I can compare. And I have an iPad too.
I love zone and I think it is nice to have zune in fone, but I am not impressed by other things on phone, Motoblur has already done what they are calling hubs (social media, photos etc etc) and droid seems better as this OS seems teh screen is too much crowded and busy. Still lets see when it comes out. Android is getting better day by day so we will see.

The major problem it was pissing me off , on windows versions , was the fact that wasnt smooth ,and the delays when u had to open programes .From What i see on this video this problem remains , even with a 1ghz processor .
@dhlos, if you listen to many WP7 videos you will hear MS representatives say that this is only a test unit with the beta build software, not the official shipping device and OS. If you go to any mobile event all the test units are slower than the shipping device even iOS, Android, Symbian and so on. Ask any developer or IT geek, 1GHZ Snapdragon + 512MB RAM + WP7 Architecture = smooth/fast/snappy experience. It's just a shame they limited it to only 1GHZ, they could have gone more.

this phone looks really cool! looks like an awesome interface! cant wait to try one out. one worry: it occassionaly looks a little, well, sluggish. at the beginning of the video when he unlocks the phone it looked like it took a bit of time to react. hmm, im rather excited :)
oh boy what a retarded joke is this zune phone. nothing original here. and the guy try to drag the menu up a few times, it just froze and didn't do anything. "we'll come back to that one," right. many times it doesn't respond to input. sometimes the scrolling jerks a bit almost freezing. ha ha. oops. oops again. compelling my ass. i'm surprised it actually didn't crash completely. it might have been edited out.

Android is great when you get it, you will be really happy with it, but as time passes by it gets more buggy. Freezes and so on. I mean i have the Bloody HTC Desire, i had HTC Legend and Samsung Galaxy, all top phones. And i have used them for more time, i know what am talking about.
@FarrisJennifer Am not a iphone fan but Android has alot of problems, specialy if you are a heavy user. Iphone has werry little. And besides, the production value of all the Aps you get with ios4 is much better than anything Android has at the moment.

I love how he tries to show things but the thing just doesn't work, like the press the letter, or the scroll down for more options. I hate mac, and this looks cool but I think they should test features before they showcase, or atleast try and showcase them lol
@INDUSStudios You have to remember that this phone is still a beta. so they still have time lots of time for improvement. but you have to say for a beta it runs amazing. yes this vid dosent do it justice watch some other videos it runs very smoothly for a beta.
Watch the new vids, I would even check out the Engadget review and their new live show video...and then you will understand. This phone is much better than the iPhone could ever want to be, although there doesnt seem to be any copy and paste functionality...which they will include later but not at initial release.
As it seems to be the alignment to the left tells the user it's possible to slide more to the left. Other screens also show this because the letters/images/words are broken off by the edge. Pretty cool solution instead of just "knowing" de possibilite like in Android or iOs.
Let's just wait until the phones get into store because I wouldn't make a call on contrast and screen quality just because of a youtube video.

@m40001 yeah i just traded in my i phone for some money and brought a HTC Desire, i would have got an evo but its not out where im from. All i can say is android seems to be the only operating system on any phone which you can choose its appearence and you can choose the layout. IOS was boring and plain on its interface.Sorry to rabbit on but thumbs up for you.

It doesnt look too responsive. So far I have not seen any touch screen on any mobile device that is as responsive and quick as on then iphone/ipad. Im sure the software on the windows phone is capable of more stuff but the user interface experience wont be as good. To me thats more important and i already hate the touchscreen of my newer palm pre and my 3 year old iphone is still better and faster. Can the pre do more? Definetly! They really need to do something about those big ass ugly light blue square icons. It's even uglier than Apple's icon scheme. Hopefully, it will change, or will allow users to create or download different icon scheme.
@ushrsc1 I heard that there were 3 types of phones that will now support this interface. one is by nokia, one is by samsung, and the other by some company i do not know of. i think that this the nokia one.
Honestly all these moving things are there just to distract you... also then you swipe your finger sideways (e.g. going to spotlights) the background changes as well, this means that your mind has to adjust to the new background... overall a good phone, but awfully confusing/distracting.
Finally something new. Every single OS has something remarkably similar to the iphone layout. Android, similar in the search engine and a few other things. LG, similar in almost the whole starting
sliding screen is a very good copy from iphone. microsoft made it even more useful. text layout is a bit chaotic, but that maybe one theme used. speed and reliability is always windows' weakest link. i hope they fully optimize their phones. iphone has a lot of fun apps, windows phone 7 need to have that to make their device not boring.
And naturally the final product, as in the OS, will be tuned and smooth - this is a relatively early build of the software and it doesn't need to take that long to get the tweaks done once the set platform is complete.
Plus I think Microsoft has a good oppurtinity to smack Apple on the balls with their (Xbox) Live intergration to make the games you play and purchase feel more 2010 than the disconnected iPhone games.
it's a layout for a more creative mind. type A personalities will hate this phone. I, however, love the layout, the look, and the things they are doing with the phone. i'm getting one.
This is gonna be good, i can put all the info i care about in one screen (thats the smartest thing you can do in a phone). It is a BETA release which means its not finished yet (This is done to tell people that ITS COMING, and its not just some random rumor) I bet its not even gonna cost as much as the iphone (thats one reason i hate mac, so expensive for doubtful products)
The Idea was good but they messed it up...they should have made it more like windows 7 on the PC, faster,smoother & better than mobile 6.5 and all they had to do was put a nice interface over it the way HTC does

Enough with the Koolaid drinking MSFT fanboys. That design sucks for a mobile device. Bad design is not a "feature". The scrolling UI does not work well for such a small screen.
Also, enough with the "it's a prototype" excuse. There is no excuse for the dial screen not working. That should be the first thing built considering that it is supposed to be a "phone". The "hub" idea might work on a TV interface but not on a phone. MSFT obviously never heard of the KISS principle.

The thing that strikes me is that NONE of it actually seems to work. I understand that they are what 9-10 months away from launch. If so, why bother showing it now.
Reading the tech press, you'd think this was better than the iPhone. Of course those idiots want a new something because they think the iPhone has become boring. It's called being second nature. I handed my iPhone to a six year old and she figured out how to use it. This Microsoft guy couldn't figure out how to work this thing.

oh boy what a retarded joke is this zune phone. nothing original here. and the guy try to drag the menu up a few times, it just froze and didn't do anything. "we'll come back to that one," right. many times it doesn't respond to input. sometimes the scrolling jerks a bit almost freezing. ha ha. oops. oops again. compelling my ass. i'm surprised it actually didn't crash completely. it might have been edited out.

Android is great when you get it, you will be really happy with it, but as time passes by it gets more buggy. Freezes and so on. I mean i have the Bloody HTC Desire, i had HTC Legend and Samsung Galaxy, all top phones. And i have used them for more time, i know what am talking about.

@FarrisJennifer Am not a iphone fan but Android has alot of problems, specialy if you are a heavy user. Iphone has werry little. And besides, the production value of all the Aps you get with ios4 is much better than anything Android has at the moment.
If you dont beleave me just look around Gizmodo or Endgadget and so on.
Android is Far from Amazing, and it will take few more years till it reaches Apple.

As it seems to be the alignment to the left tells the user it's possible to slide more to the left. Other screens also show this because the letters/images/words are broken off by the edge. Pretty cool solution instead of just "knowing" de possibilite like in Android or iOs.
Let's just wait until the phones get into store because I wouldn't make a call on contrast and screen quality just because of a youtube video.

All i can say is android seems to be the only operating system on any phone which you can choose its appearence and you can choose the layout. It doesnt look too responsive. So far I have not seen any touch screen on any mobile device that is as responsive and quick as on then iphone/ipad. Im sure the software on the windows phone is capable of more stuff but the user interface experience wont be as good. To me thats more important and i already hate the touchscreen of my newer palm pre and my 3 year old iphone is still better and faster. Can the pre do more? Definetly! But its f*** enoying to work with this thing.

sliding screen is a very good copy from iphone. microsoft made it even more useful. text layout is a bit chaotic, but that maybe one theme used. speed and reliability is always windows' weakest link. i hope they fully optimize their phones. iphone has a lot of fun apps, windows phone 7 need to have that to make their device not boring.

Sliding isn't anything iPhone OS brought up.
And naturally the final product, as in the OS, will be tuned and smooth - this is a relatively early build of the software and it doesn't need to take that long to get the tweaks done once the set platform is complete.
Plus I think Microsoft has a good oppurtinity to smack Apple on the balls with their (Xbox) Live intergration to make the games you play and purchase feel more 2010 than the disconnected iPhone games.

This is gonna be good, i can put all the info i care about in one screen (thats the smartest thing you can do in a phone). It is a BETA release which means its not finished yet (This is done to tell people that ITS COMING, and its not just some random rumor) I bet its not even gonna cost as much as the iphone (thats one reason i hate mac, so expensive for doubtful products)

Enough with the Koolaid drinking MSFT fanboys. That design sucks for a mobile device. Bad design is not a "feature". The scrolling UI does not work well for such a small screen.
Also, enough with the "it's a prototype" excuse. There is no excuse for the dial screen not working. That should be the first thing built considering that it is supposed to be a "phone". The "hub" idea might work on a TV interface but not on a phone. MSFT obviously never heard of the KISS principle.
