besides atm's are computers inside a safe with 1-4 tons of concrete in the bottom. ive worked on one of those before. they are way way diffrent than a vending machine. and as everyone knows... computers can be hacked, vending machines in general can not be "hacked" but the coke machines have a defualt code 4231 but older machines have to be set manually with dip switches so no hacking those

some of the crapy Cheapo machines have a sensor in the door but they are starting to all go with ones like mine where the sensor is in the slot not the door oh and the really old machines don't have a safety in the door so you can reach your hand up behind it and get stuff. assuming that your arm is small enough

On the new pop machines with the conveyor belts in them, if you hold the door shut it will give you you're money back and figure that the item you were trying to buy was sold out, and on arcade machines missing the coin return door (it happens a lot more often then you would think) you can

use a coin other than a quarter, and flick it through the place where rejected coins fall, and it will give you a credit (works on almost all machines.) I've done both of them before.

(also, to clarify, on the first trick, the bottle will stay on the conveyor belt and then you can do that until the conveyor belt is full, then buy a pop and get all of them for the price of one pop.) :)
