  • OMG...just reading everyones comments cracks me up!! Note to Jon...so called expert village....put an ad out for someone who knows how to combine all your 20 something video clips into one full movie. LM@O!! JON...you look like a person who really hates his job so he has make 15 videos on a 5 minute job. *confused on how i went from looking at my brake pads clip to "good luck with changing your brakes"????? WTHeck?!! ROTFLM@O

  • he sound bord

  • If there is some scoring on a rotor this doesn't matter. No vibe no problem.

Except at pad change - it might take a little time for the pads to bed in.

An important thing about brake efficiency is surface area. Scored rotors have

surface area - yes? So at servicing, the pads are still ok but the rotors are

scored - no vibration - then leave them alone! don't do anything with them.

  • huh

  • right!

  • Does scoring in the rotor matter? As long as there is no vibration - why machine

    them?

  • @leaper1950:

    Does Scoring Matter?

It's all about how the rotor distributes heat. If there is excessive scoring, heat will not distribute evenly, brake pads will wear unevenly, and will cause more headaches than solve.

    Why Machine Them?

If you're low on money, your local mechanic shop may be able to eliminate some amounts of scoring by shaving, er machining, thousandths of an inch off of the rotor to better distribute heat rather than buying whole new rotors. Keep in mind, this is only a temp fix

  • I hate expertvillage

their videos are always not helpful

  • I have to agree with you trailerfitter....

  • he's a distance runner. Shut up you dipshit.

  • well shit man, you don't want somebody that doesnt know whats going on, doing a brake job...you know brakes are sorta a important feature of a car. you want them 100% fail proof. somebody that isn't really well... technically versed might miss something basic that leads to a catastrophic failure down the road. probably when they are on the highway.

Don't forget to replace your bearings when you replace your rotors.

  • Frankenstein's son teaching us about mechanic. LOL!

  • Did the doctor have a son?

  • @TheDarkVulture yeah ... lol

  • lmao i was thinking the same thing!!

  • i know he fecking scary i think i seen him in the texas chain saw massacre

  • @rkss27 yeah any numptie can change pads but its all the related defects that they possibly are not aware of especcially if the slider pins are siezed or the rubber protector boots are split,..

  • brake should however be left to trained professionals

  • @trailerfitter

A ten year old with any brains can change a set of breaks. I laugh at people that spend hundreds of dollars to get a "pro" to do it lol.

  • good ...glad you are going into some depth with this with inspection..

  • lol

  • LOO LIKE BILL NYE THE SCIENCE

  • LOL

  • I think the dude needs to be replaced as well

    lol!

  • @Ricky07070909 that's very funny.............loool!

  • @Ricky07070909 i think he knows he giving bad info but does it for money anyways lol...

  • @Ricky07070909 LLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL !

  • @Ricky07070909 I think his wear indicator has really gouged deep into his brain!!!!

  • that dude look hela weird lol

  • Dude looks like Lurch from Adams Family.

  • leave the guy alone, it is a bad over coat, granted.

  • I like these videos. Even though I'm an engineer I don't know how to do any of this stuff. I don't even know how to get to the brake rotors even though I can see them through my rims LOL. Does the tire just slide off the car?

  • I swear I seen this guy in MIB. having lunch with that old short guy with that cat but he was many years older LOL

  • Doc Auto in his lab jacket lol this guy is a doish bag

  • Comment removed

  • I had 2 cavaliers (but not a '91-94 like this one) and they chewed the heck out of brakes. Must be a GM thing, like crappy transmissions are for Chrysler products.

  • Cavaliers are cheaply built vehicles...in my opinion, you get what you pay for, at least in most cases.

  • HAHAHAHA, "this disc shaped object is the rotor" OMG HAHAHA.

  • Thank you SO MUCH! I needed that information because they're working on my car right now (brakes/rotors). They're trying to charge me for stuff, and I'm double checking. Thanks!!!

  • LOL

  • I hate these long, drawn-out how to videos:{)

  • take you car to a beaner that lives around you.

  • lmao hellz yea

  • LOL

  • i like his jacket

  • haha diddo

  • These videos are fragmented WAY TO MUCH!!!

  • WTF?

  • Yes, I agree with you! They do this to get lots and lots of hits and that way they can get more clicks on their ads.

  • Shit... if I follow these instructions I will die in a car crash...

  • HIlarious.

  • THANK YOU, WE ALL AGREE 100%

Expert Village is a TOTAL WASTE OF INTERNET SPACE

  • look how long the arms of that dude. geez. almost laying on the ground.

  • lol!!!!! when he said hi he looks like a killer watch out people!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • dude you look like a stiff ...! no offence ! LOL

  • expert village fails..

  • often

  • Too often.

  • what if the piston wont go back?

  • The Square Cut Seal is Worn out.

  • if the piston won't go back that usually means you waited to long to replace breaks. and the piston was pushed to far in. take a c-clamp to push piston back in. if that doesn't work then you will probably have to replace your caliper. that happened on my civic. do it yourself or pay like 200 at a shop. not hard!

  • ok how do i find step one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol i like how he says "they (brake hoses) MAY need to be replaced" if they're leaking!

if they're leaking ur lucky you made it in the shop and NEED to replace them!!

  • it will be great to number these videos

  • expertvillage, you fotgot to meantion it's "thousands of UNNECESSARY how-to videos"

  • he looks so damn goofy!

  • disc shaped object? haha but really number your shit please!

  • yeah what the hell expert village fucks

  • number your videos dip shit

  • haha..hell yea!!

  • that said these videos helped me allot, would be nice if I could watch them in order but.

  • if the brake hose is damaged causing leaks, IT WILL NEED RELACING, not may need replacing

  • You're understanding what he's said in the wrong way. He said it MAY be leaking so it MAY need to be replaced. Ie it only needs to be replaced in the case of a leak.

  • The guy who made the video likely meant what you're saying, but he definitely stated in wrong in the video. this should all be in one video, not broken up and unnumbered. Also, he doesnt mention "turning" the rotors to insure smooth braking in the future. Someone should re-do this video better.

  • How much dose it cost to change brake pads. Like how much is reasonable and how much is sticking to the owner. It sounds like mine are ready to be replaced but I am not trying to get shafted either.
