  • One of the most powerful movies of our time - even though it portrays the evil inherant in Christian history! The truth I have found Biblically is that religions are depicted as women. In the council of God's children of Psalm 82, religion is not allowed to speak! Men and women must rise to speak as individuals.Matthew 7:15; "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them." God tests our love.

  • For what ever reason ..humanity is accused of killing a good thinker...(a woman here). Is that what religious teach....if so....think again

  • @Greens2be Christians themselves have never understood the power of salvation. Mankind has not rejected God's Love, they have rejected the inherent hypocricy of religion. The reason we are capable of independent thought is that we must learn to live with one another in peace before the age of eternity. God did his part, man continues to struggle - there is often more faith outside of religion.

  • Watch this movie steered up within me profound feels. Depending on the person who is viewing this movie, the message is simple, never cease to question what you have been taught. Regardless of the popular opinions and dogmatic intolerance of the Raging lunatics outside of us.

  • Just another religion-bashing Hollywood propaganda piece, disguised as entertainment. No, thanks.

  • @DougKendall

It isn't about religion, the movie showed the beautiful intention of religion at the beginning but then how bigots politicized it for personal gain. Hypatia herself professed tolerance and love for mankind in front of Pagan and Christian students. It's about the dangers of fundamentalism, please watch a movie before judging. Ignorant.

  • @christe68 I couldn't care less. I'm tired of the Hollywood trend.

  • @christe68 @DougKendall

I agree with Christe. Hypatia taught Jews, Pagans and Christian students alike. She was non judgmental. It's about the flaws of human, and also the strength of humanity too.

  • @DougKendall:

    1) It's Spanish and got nothing to do with Hollywood.

    2) Your country already saw to it that no one in the US will be able to see it and actually think uncomfortable thoughts

    2) Why is it propaganda if a movie shows some of the crimes done in the name of monotheism? Truth hurts sometimes but Christians have to deal with the nasty past and specially in the US, nastry present of their religion.

    4) I don't think a similar movie does exist.

  • @Trampadoo

My country? If it was my country, things would be VERY different. Don't associate me with what some idiots here do, just because I happen to be occupying the same land mass. I have no use for government or stupidity--but I repeat myself.

And I don't have a "nasty past." Again, don't associate me with these people, just because we share a book (Bible). I often doubt that many have actually read it--and if they have, they certainly don't show it.

  • @DougKendall: Your religion does have a nasty past and in the US also partially a very nasty present. But since you are surely no part of that there is no reason to be offended by a movie that rightfully shows a glimpse of said past.

Having read the Bible does not assure someone to behave like a good person. It's all interpretation. You can find affirmation for being loving but also for being very hateful and intolerant in the Bible. I'd rather be a humanist right away.

  • @Trampadoo

I would say misguided, authoritarian cowards have a nasty past. That kind of thing has nothing to do with Scripture.

I'm just tired of all the religion bashing and stereotypes that seem to be very prevalent in today's media. That's all I was trying to get across.

  • @DougKendall: The scripture itself is full of misguided, authoritarian cowards. And this is not religion bashing, this is some long overdue critical thinking towards religion. The USA, considered a so called western country, is downright scary when it comes to Christian religion. I take it that you do not approve of this kind of bigot, intolerant, homophobic shit either. Since the movie does criticise stuff like that there is no reason for you to dislike it.

  • @Trampadoo My reasons for disliking it are my own, and are good enough for me. If you like it, fine. Personally, I don't plan to spend a penny on it.

  • And no doubt Rachel Weisz's character will have Agoraphobia after all these events... ....

  • @hollywoodwerewolf

    LOL ! good one.

  • cool!

  • wow, good movie there's a good copy at 'bigmovies4free' last time i checked! it's got an awesome cast of actors

  • Some quotes by Hypatia:

"All formal dogmatic religions are fallacious and must never be accepted by self-respecting persons as final."

"Reserve your right to think, for even to think wrongly is better than not to think at all."

"Fables should be taught as fables, myths as myths, and miracles as poetic fancies. To teach superstitions as truths is a most terrible thing."
