  • wow amazing job i love it =)

  • Hi,

I had a quick question. Can you press any brand of loose eyeshadow using alcohol. I know you can do it with MAC, but would it ruin the eyeshadows of other brands?

  • why are his hands shaking

  • if i use 70% rubbing alcohol is that okay? love your videos btw!!!!!!

  • Please answer(: when im pressing tkb trading micas, should i use a binder/medium?

  • @Ashleyrocks2150 Always use a binder.

  • what are the benefits of pressing pigments? Is 1/8 a teaspoon enough to press one?

  • @Boondockgrl1986 It depends how far you want to fill the pan, you can use as little or as much as you want (as long as it doesn't overflow the pan). I usually only fill mine halfway or so.

  • are these empty pans the same you used in the hello kitty pallette video with the melted lip sticks? and wich size are both the ones in this video and the hello kitty pallette video? 15.5mm? 20mm? or 30mm?

  • Your hands are very shaky!!

  • i LOVE your videos...i have used your technique and it works for me so im sticking with it.lol

    just have one unrelated question...

Who is singing the version of the song that plays in the beginning of the vid, and WHERE CAN I FIND IT?!?! it gets stuck in my head.lol i have heard others singing it, but i like the one that u have. please help out :-)

  • Comment removed

  • does it have to be loose mac pigments?

  • @mtde1mantram no it can be from any cosmetic brand, he was just using mac as an example =)

  • Where did you get your magnets? :) I really love your videos!<3

  • @BowzNrain You can get them from Ebay! Thats where i bought mine!

  • When you mix it should the consistency be like sour creme?

  • love this video, i actually made the hello kitty pallet and im going to fill it with pressed pigments, i was wondering where do you get the pans ?! thanks so much, love love love youuu !

  • What do u use to labe your stickers and where can I get one!!!

  • What do u use to label the stickers??? And where can I get one!!

  • whats the difference with using alcohol or a pressing medium? is a pressing medium better?

  • @HappieMix I was told that you should use a pressing medium for mineral make up! But for regular eyshadow (like when its broken) or pigments using alcohol alone is enough!

  • its rubbing acolhall right ?*

  • Great Vid!!! are you Filipino?

  • I Loved This Video Where can u get the scoops from

  • that is so cool

  • Waouwww it's great.

    U'r very organize

  • can u get the pans at a craft store or makeup store

  • i swirled and pressed two pigments and it looks awesome

  • Thank you Koren..I'm going to try this.

  • how com mac pigments ar smaller now

  • i just love you soooo much... keep up the good job.... the tips, the organizing ideas and your make up. I m a FAN for life. Be seeing you soon

  • what is pigment pressing?

  • hey everyone! I just tried it with with ethyl alcohol (in Europe called spirit - I got 99% :D it took 10 min!) and another pigment I did with 96% isopropyl alcohol, it's a "dry emolient", used in most of cosmetics, because it gives a creamy apply and THEN evaporates from skin. So - the second pigment is hmm... harder to put on the eyelid, it sticks to brush, so I don't recommend this way :) ppl - learn on my mistake! ;) but if I try it on matts or minerals, I'll share it guys

    mua :*

  • where can I find the magnets for the pans?

  • yeah, i pressed solar bits, crush pigments, matte pigments..its all the same. just vary the amt of alcohol you use. i use 91%, idk how 96% would be.

  • Is 96% alchool work for this?

  • Yes, the higher the alcohol the better. It sanitizes better =)

  • @Owljornan Many thanks ;)

  • Actually the name is goldenaire as in millionaire. Btw can you press the crush pigments?

  • hello great video. this might be a stupid question but i'm starting out with make- up, can i press MAC crush pigment? are they all the same?

  • Comment removed

  • this isnt a review for this vid, its for your lipgloss one, does it work just as good if you put it in a tin?

  • hm, i head from somewhere that you cant press matte or shimmery pigments, is that true?

  • I used this method on fixing my shattered eye shadow...I broke it almost the day I bought it and didn't know what to do with it, but now I have my eye shadow back...THANK YOU!

  • what is the name of the pigment ?

  • I think he said Golden Air.....

  • THANK YOU!!

  • can you press NYX pigments?

  • hi yes you can but not with alcohol based mixing medium you would need water based mixing medium if you search pressing nyx pigments you will find a girl that pressing nyx pigments :)

    i hope this helped you

  • were the heck do you get those?

  • GENIUS!

  • can you use a gram jar to press alt of pigment?

  • are there other things then alcohol you can use ? ;P

  • can u use handsanitizer

  • @geeknfreek33 i dont think u can because its not exactly the same consistancy

  • instead of the alcohol what can i use?

  • y wouldnt u use alcohol?!

  • I've used Visine to wet my Bare Minerals to use as eyeliner... Doubt it would work on a large scale like that though.

  • visine is expensive! y wouldnt u just use rubbing alcohol! hahaha

  • You don't press with Visine, but it could be used to moisten pigments so that they go on more concentrated, such as for an eyeliner.

  • Koren u are AMAZING!

  • hey! what is the benifit of pressing pigments? and does the consistancy change? if i order 1/4 tsp samples online, will that be enough to press?

  • Man, that's a tiny sample!

  • its portable

  • pressing the pigments allows you to put them in a palette and take with you. it just becomes pressed, but when you put it on it's the same, the alcohol evaporates. if you're going to order samples, 3 is probably a good amount, that's what i order.

  • as far as i remember, if you get 3 of those samples, that makes a full pan :) i heard that from allthatglitters21 i guess..

  • @60077123 He said he used a 'Smidge' which is approx. 1 /12 of a tsp and he said he put in about 2-3 rounds in so It will probably work but you may consider finding a smaller pan to be on the safe side. Powdered pigments are more.. eh?? Filled with air?? But, pressed pigments are much more dense yet much easier to use.

Also about the benefit, look at what @EAC1215 said.

  • @VPrincessLover if a smidge is 1/12th of a tsp, how much is a pinch? No one has been able to answer that for me

  • What brand do you use for the alcohol? Or is it safe to use any isopropyl alcohol? x

  • what size pan do i need to fit a standard palette?

  • hey where can i get the pans? Thank you

  • starsmakeuphaven :)

  • there are many men into makeup. And why not?

  • dont use hand sanitizer it not good...ur eyez will burn..u can use any eyedrop as well..dat also works nice..

  • hey! could we just use a hand sanitizer...??!!....instead of tht alchohol..?well by the way i keep on watchin it!!

  • so organised & precise.

    very good video A+++

  • Awesome tutorial! Thank you for sharing your expertize with us!

  • where do you get the magnets from? thank you!!!!

  • Thanks so much Koren!!!

  • lmao 'don't make it too watery like milk' you're so funny! :) love your videos

  • Koren hi!!i wanted to ask you why i cannot press my burnt burgundy pigment..have you ever tried to press that one?i have pressed a couple of pigments like tan and violet but the burgundy one always cracks when dries up..what can i do?

    thanks

    xx

  • sry if I'm wrong, but isn't it matte? matte pigments don't press well

  • ohh thats why!!!yes its matte as well as the coral one which i pressed and after it gir dried it cracked so badly...Is there a trick though that we can press matte pigments??:)

    thanks for helping me out!

  • you're welcome :) Not that I know of, I'm trying to figure it out myself. Actually, until recently, most inexpensive brands didn't have matte eyeshadows because they are so hard to press...

  • add a couple drops of glycerin along with the rubbing alcohol. You want to use glycerin with matte and mineral pigments. You're supposed to be able to find them at pharmacies, I couldn't find any at Walgreen's but I'm going to ask next time I'm there.

  • Can someone tell me what is the purpose for doing all this?

  • It's easier to use pressed eyeshadows.

  • to make pressed pigments duuuuuh=)

  • If you are a Makeup Artist it is much easier to carry around pressed pigments in your kit then having to fuss around with all of those jars and loose pigments that can spill and make a mess, it can be a real pain.

Also, some people are simply more comfortable with pressed eyeshadows.

  • @EAC1215 do self pressed pigments break more often?

  • so, like sometimes when you want some pigment, and when you dip your brush into the little jar it wont go all over the place.

  • HEY DEAR the purpose is to place some pigments into a pallette like the eyeshadows if you want,so that you wont carry the whole pot of the pigment with you:)

  • u get a lot of fallout from pigments. put too much on yr brush and your face is covered with sparkles llol

  • This is such a great way, I find loose pigments so hard to work with, I am definitely pressing mine! Thanks so much Koren, you totally saved me from keeping a bunch of unused pigments around!

  • I got some pigment samples and I'm going to press those instead of buying the whole $20 pigment, so this is REALLY USEFUL!!!

    Easy to follow!!

  • how and where did you get the samples??

  • i love the little tune at the start of the videoo its sooo awesome (:

    i love this video yaya

  • SOOOOO USEFULLL

  • this is awesome!

  • this is such a brilliant brilliant idea, I am so happy I got to watch this and so interested. I don't have enough pigments to even do this haha, but I want to try this for sure!! THANKS KOREN<3<3<3!!

  • do we have to use 91% alcohol?

  • i use 70% & it works fine for me.

  • koren ur so sweet

  • koooooool

so now its lyk eyeshadow right

    can u message back ppppplease

  • instead of using rubbing alcohol can you use nail varnish remover?

  • i dont thinks so because i think it might sting your eyes

  • a company called NYX makes these eyshadows called PEARL MANIA loose eyeshadows..but theyre basically pigments they cost around 2-3 $ and come in an array of colors!!the only downfall is that they are TINY!!! but how much pigment does a person need??Lol

  • LA Colors makes those too!! They are really good and they have a lot in them!! The best part is that they are only a dollar!

  • Comment removed

  • is there any less expensive pigments other than mac? also is there a certain type of pigment because i found some online at walmart but idk if its the wrong one...

  • There is a drugstore brand called Loreal H.I.P that is basically a copycat of MAC, selling their own pigments, as well as their version of shadesticks and fluid line, etc. Where I live, the H.I.P pigments are 10dollars each, and they each come with a small basic eyeshadow brush.

They sell the Loreal H.I.P at drugstores like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, etc, since Loreal is a drugstore brand.

And, what do you mean by "is there a certain type of pigment"? =/

  • the one at walmart says you can mix it in with paint and other stuff so is there pigment made for make up or can you use it for anything

  • Yes, there are pigments made for makeup. I think the ones you're talking about are ones used for arts and crafts.

But generally, you probably can use it for makeup, even if it is for crafts and such. I use paint brushes for my makeup brushes, and they work fantastically, so I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to use other craft things for makeup use. =]

  • HIP isn't just a drugstore brand.

    It's in make-up stores too...

  • it's made by loreal...so it is actually.

  • there is a website called tkbtrading i think. they sell things called micas which are pretty much pigments. you can mix them and make your own eyeshadows or just use the color by itself. they have a TON of colors and they are really cheap. i think its like 1.50 for an ounce and they come in other sizes too. hope this helped =)

  • can subtitute other then alcohol??? anything that have no alcohol in it??

  • This is so helpful, thanks!

  • is there a way to press broken powders? if so can you make a video? plz& thnk u

  • he already has one

  • Um, isn't there EZ Prez

  • yeah but a bottle of alcohol is way cheaper

  • enkore can i do the same prosses with my mica shodows??? please help!!

  • Help! I pressed my pigment but now it won't come off on my brush when I go to apply it. The shadow will come off if I use my finger, however. Any clue what I did wrong? Is it safe to grind it up and try again?

  • Thanks for your video, its very helpfull.

But can you also use mixing medium instead of alcohol? Or will that not work as well?

  • what is the MAC pigment he used for this video?

  • i think its goldenaire

  • if a pigment is matte is it still ok to press?

  • yes, if the pigment is matte, you can press it. really any pigment. (:

  • lol i love all your videos especially the non video makers contest one good luck on all ur vids!!!

  • You have very elegant hands. I'm jealous

  • how many teaspoons of pigment do you think you used for pressing..??

and i'd also like to say.. thank you soo much for all of your videos, koreen. it really helps everyday people like me that have noo idea about what their doing!! thanks soo much!

  • PLEASE tell me where you get those little spoons at!??!?!

  • I tried pressing my NYX loose pearl e/s using this method, nd it did not work...i dont know if i am doing anything wrong or if NYX loose pearl e/s are just not pressable? Can someone plz advice...thanks!!

  • I did the same thing and it didn't work either!!! I think with nyx pigments you need to add something extra.. but I dont know what... it's what I'm having trouble with too.. If anyone one knows, please tell me!!

  • you should try mixing medium, not alcohol

  • Same problem here! I have all 29 of them and I just spent the last two days pressing and repressing them, but they don't seem to hold together... Anyone have any ideas? Please help, I'd really like to put them in my kit!

  • try mixing medium instead of alcohol

  • Filmed on my bday;]

&& thanks i needed this so much

  • hi, what size pan did you buy? because there's 2 different sizes on the website.

  • will vitmain e work to press it?

  • could you also do this with mineral eye shadows?

  • i tried pressing my nyx pearl mania eye dust and it has been 4days and it still hasnt dried up. i used 70% alcohol. is this the reason why? i did kinda make it very watery too. let me know what i did wrong or how i can better at this lol

  • OMG!

    I'm gonna try it!

    :)

  • this was really helpful vid but i dont know where to get the alcohol from :/??
