Reminds me of Josef Hassid, also, sadly taken away far too soon. Lekeu's Sonata reminds me of the music of Faure`, but not as 'complicated'. Let me humbly join my fellow co-admirers in saying, indeed, his playing is simply 'angelic', though he is with the angels now & no longer with us.
thank you very much .. I did not know that record ..
Unfortunately, there are only 2 drives him .. one of which is devoted to concert of Queen Elizabeth ..
I love what this musician .. I think it was very far and very high .. French, it is said popularly, "tutoyer les anges" ( close angels ).. perhaps, a little higher yet ..
How did you get to study with him? I heard about a violin academy in Belgium(is it in Belgium?) that is under his name, but I've had a hard time trying to find anything about him. I adore his playing (so magical and heartfelt!) and would love to find out more about him. I would also really like to see more videos of him if you know where I could find them.
I got to study with him in Utrecht, Holland. I think he hold the position as a professor both at Utecht consevatory and in Belgum at the same time. I remember seeing his documentary on TV after he passed away.
Some of my friends had that whole video.
Probably Belgian TV(do not know exact name) has a lot of his recordings and video.
One of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.

Yes, Faure indeed! With the never "ostinato" harmonies, always shifting... (:

Hello everybody.
The sonata was recorded with the pianist Jean-Claude VANDEN EYNDEN, in December 1991, at the Conservatoire Royal, Liege (Belgium).
It appeared on a CD Ricercar Secondo, reference RIS 104091.
Their playing of this sonata is simply miraculous.
By the way, I collect rare Heifetz recordings- I would be glad to trade with other Heifetz fans!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful music.
I have a few recordings of him but this is so beautiful. His sound seems not from this world.
It is from heaven.

Do you know when and where this was recorded?
He was my teacher for very short time.
unfortunately he passed away when I got there to study with him.
But he is always in my mind.
I am still listening his recordings.
And this recording is heart breaking!
