What a fantastic performer, and what a unique voice. Ian was no songbird, but that voice coupled with this music results in absolute brilliance. It just makes me happy every time I hear it, like, puts a really big smile on my face.
And unlike a lot of musicians, he's actually extremely entertaining to watch.
I mean, at 4:47 he made LOVE to that microphone. Literally.
Wow.
Ian Dury may very well be the weirdest, coolest person ever. Up there at the top, at least.
why was this music kept from me as a kid, I woulda loved it, no but I could listen to flippin tiger feet! bollox I woulda rather this. a neighbour gave me 7" god save the queen man I would loop about to that but it got "accidently trodden on" yeah right...
I wasn't born in 1978 but even as someone who grew up in post New wave era i can really appreciate why you guys really liked this stuff. Hit me with your rhythm stick was just genius.
Ian Dury / Blockheads lp several times a day with the kid of my hosting family... dispite the fact that the parents turned mad (cause of the lyrics!), that was just our fav album of the summer !
Apologise to the Dj of the unique Disco of Worthing, the guy heared "BLOCKHEADS" so many time during his sets , it was just me asking for some Ian Dury tunes ^^
It's Billericay.
