termanogue. i read all ur posts. u seem to know a lot about tha NBA and euro basketball. its nice to see a pure basketball fan. the euro league is very under appreciated. btw im a barcelona fan in football too! but honestly.. i dont know if ur discussing this particulay game or not but i hope u dont think barcelona got the best out of the lakers here? this was lie a friendly match. kobe was injured and u can see the lakers didnt try. Mickael seems to be very good. also excited to see rubio soon!
"spain" (well most of their national team) who just had a miserable WC appearance in turkey beats the socalled "world champion" from LA, I think we're ready for a global bb league in 2012.
@jonkam10 it's not something to draw conclusions about, you have to understand that playing over 100 games in the NBA is really tiring on the body, on top of that not only did they play more than 100 games last year but the year before that and then the year before that one, so Three years in a row more than 100 games, no including practices and all that, so what happens when the season ends? Most of the players take a break and don't touch the ball.
@jonkam10 In other words, this was their 2 game since june, more than three months of not playing together, new players and phil jackson playing rookies (he never plays rookies) I'm sure the lakers wouldn't be able to beat a mediocre team that had practiced over the summer in those conditions (which they did, they lost against Minnesota in their first game- mediocre team) even under those conditions barcelona barely won, so just think if the lakers were in season shape, it wouldn't even be close
@termanogue nba teams are n't much better than european and u should also know that play games to!for example barca played about 70 games last year and many of the players also played in wold basketball in summer!
@AdreasTheGreat I disagree, NBA teams have far more talent than european teams, we even have most of your best players too so that just shows that Europe can't even compare. If the players acknowledge this, which they do, then it shouldn't be much of a problem for you to accept that the NBA is far better as well.
@termanogue i agree that many nba players play in nba but u know europe has many very good players that never played in nba and also many good american players and most of them have played in nba.when navaro,gasol,calderon...played in europe most consider navarro the best but for some reason didn't like s to stay in nba or nba didn't suit him.i also think many nba players overreted, why blake or brown are better than pete mickeal who was amazing agaist lakers?
@AdreasTheGreat You agree that "many NBA players play in the nba"? "All" NBA players play in the NBA, I think you meant many great basketball players play in the NBA? Trust me, if the good american players playing in europe could get good playing time/ good money (if teams even want them in the first place), they'd play for the NBA. Just look at josh Childress who was doing really well in europe, he's not making headlines over here in the NBA. Not even as an over the top back up.
@termanogue He can't get (consistently) even half the minutes that he got in europe, WHY? because there are players that in the same amount of minutes could do more, both offensively and defensively. You can't really judge players, like Brown and Steve (although I do think they are really knowledgeable; and Brown, athletic) from stats alone, Phil Jacksons coaching method is pretty unique, requiring more than offensive points in order to help the team win.
@termanogue i meant many great european players in nba but most still play in europe.josh was good in his 2nd year but when he left nba was a good player(avr 13p.6.5reb.1steal) but not so good when came to greece and mainly in clutch(euroleague or greek playoffs)he was very athletic though but bad shooter.i didn't say brown isn't a good player but think there are many good americans don't play in nba.for example anthony parker passed his prime when join nba but did well.there are many...
@AdreasTheGreat Like I said before, that was their second game in 3 months (literally) They obviously weren't in shape, for three years consecutively they had played, not only 82 regular season games in each but an average of more than 20 games extra games in each, in other words more than 100 games each season so collectively they played more than 300 games up to that point and gasol and kobe had played for their national teams, this was the first real summer where they took it completely off.
@termanogue After being away from basketball for 3 months I wouldn't expect them to be in shape to compete, either physically or mentally. Barca could probably beat some other NBA teams, but they wouldn't be contenders to be champions, the season is way to long and the greats teams starters and depth are just too good. Just look at the Timberwolves, the lakers played them a game before they played Barca, and the game wasn't even close, timberwolves won, how is their season going?? 17-56
@termanogue i agree lakers are better but that was also barcelona's 2nd game so they weren't in shape to.if nba teams were so much better as u say then should win easily the game.neither kobe-gasol played last summer in national teams while 6 barca players played.in my opinion nba teams aren't so much better than europeans but different stylefor example nba teams are more athletic but europeans have better shooters.even usa national team with all superstars lost or win difficult euro-teams.
@AdreasTheGreat Like I said I disagree. No one is perfect, we even lost against the worst team this year, the cavs, you drawing conclusions from this game is silly. If Barca and lakers played 10 games, lakers would easily win 9 out of 10. Barca is no where near an elite team in the NBA. Maybe if you continue to be a basketball fan overall you will come to realize this, however from the logic I'm presenting now it's obvious you won't realize this now.
@AdreasTheGreat Also, you're talking about people playing in the national team was a bad thing. No it's a good thing, if they played for the national team that means that they are coming into their second game not being away from basketball (unlike the lakers) in other words they're in basketball shape mentally and physically. The only player that played for the national team over the summer was odom and as you can see it was a good thing because he was playing well.
@AdreasTheGreat Had 6 of our players played for the national team then we'd be at an even playing field, but that's just what i've been trying to get across to you this whole time, Barca had the advantage on that side. NO ONE TOUCHED A BASKETBALL FOR THREE, 3, months. In other words, OUT OF SHAPE, MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY. Kobe for example had surgery on his knee, so he definitely didn't touch the ball AT ALL up until training camp, which was AT EUROPE. Gasol was instructed not to, etc etc
@AdreasTheGreat Doesn't matter how good you are in whatever sport you play, if you're away from it for 3 months ( I mean completely away from it, no pick up games or anything) and you face a pretty good opponent, there's no way I'd expect that person or team to win bar none. It takes time to get back in rhythm or shape, Barca may have not been in rhythm as a team, but at least some of their players were in shape, mentally and physically. And then to draw conclusions from it, is ridiculous.
@AdreasTheGreat Last time I checked, some MLS teams beat english premier teams last summer, and At least one of them, if I remember correctly, beat Real Madrid, but you don't see me drawing conclusions from that, why, because I know it's silly. There's no way the MLS measures up to the EPL or La Liga. As for international Bball comp, USA didn't even have to send our veteran players to win the metal last summer, the younger players played against the worlds national teams and still got gold.
@termanogue so many worlds and u say same things.i am nba fan and i accept nba teams are better but not so much better than u think.european b-ball is very high level.last world championship was the worst evr since all good teams(greece,spain,argentina,lithuania,serbia,russia,france,slovenia,brazil...)had many serious absences and this is the main reason turkey(an avr european team) went in finals eventhough their star okur also didn't play!when usa had all supesrtars lost by greece!
@termanogue usa also won very difficult greece and spain next year and also have lost by argentina(when manu was healthy)and lithuania.in last world championship usa won brazi(without nene)lonly with 1point.usa team didn't have kobe, lebron and wade but had 1st nba scorer(durant) and maybe this year mvp(rose) plus many nba stars to!i love nba but unfortunately this is the worst era.do u imafine 1992dreamteam (mj,magic,bird,drexler,pippen,malone,barkley,admiral...),this was unbelievable team!
@termanogue as concern soccer isn't the same as most european teams play without many of their stars and also make 10 player changes while in a normal game can do only 3!don't also forget that in soccer is easier a worst team to win cause can score 1 goal and then play 40minutes defense but in b-ball this isn't possible since 95% better team win!u said before that nba players were tired but european players are more tired since many of theam also playds in summer to!
@termanogue now u say that barca players were in better shape so your arguments arecontradictory my friend.i already told u that nba teams are better but not so much as u say and i see many nba games and i know all-teams very well but u don't know almost anything about euro b-ball.u didn;t know any superstar before join nba(gasol.manu,parker,okur,kirilenko..) and i say that many great non-american players play in europe and many good usa players to.
@AdreasTheGreat If you could read you'd see that they're not contradictory, because I was stating that after playing 300 games they're going to have to rest SOMETIME, which was last summer (and make no mistake about it I'm NOT your friend). You have shown that you DON'T know anything about NBA teams besides a couple of names and assumptions, and drawing conclusions form silly games, You don't know anything about "all-teams" at all if you're talking about JENNINGS being a TOP 10 PG?
@termanogue That's hilarious,(surely, your assessment of him is from talking to bucks fans, either that or it makes no sense what so ever, wishful thinking.) sure he has potential and he makes his team better, but you're stretching it there. If you had made a comment that stupid to begin with I would have stopped talking to you sooner. No, I thought you had a little bit more common sense, but I should have known when you said that euro teams aren't far behind NBA teams, you're hilarious.
@termanogue how the hell u have an oppinion for euro b-ball when u know nothing about while i am sure i know much more about nba.is it accidently that 2 best skilled"big guys" are dirk and pau?howard who is considered best center is amazing athlet but medium other skills(post game, bad shoot ).if euro teams were far behind nba than should lose handsdown, the same for national teams.u can keep underrate europeans but the truth is that 20 years ago nba players was much better than today's
@AdreasTheGreat And so the teams were more concentrated with star players. Look, you made the jennings argument which is alright, but look at this, Navaro is number 1 in europe, but he was just an average player here in the untied states, see how I did that? Just took your logic and twisted it around, now if I was you I'd say that this implies he isn't that great, but I know better, and so should you. I also played basketball, but you know what, that has nothing to do with this conversation.
@termanogue if u see euroleague match u'll notice has many similaraties with a nba match than in 80's for example.the main difference is that in europe there is more passing game and more shots cause there arent so big room to penetrate than nba(3sec.defensive rule,no hanchecking, bigger court than past are responsible for this) plus zone def.is much more often than nba.this is the main reason superstars cant penetrate so much in national team than in nba matches that zone is almost forbidden.
@termanogue more teams mean less good teams since talent shares more.it;s not accidenlty that in 70's-80's untill middle 90's many teams had 2-3 superstars and now there aren't excpet 3-4 teams.for example did u know that in 70's almost all teams(20) had HOF ecxept bulls but had many good players(love, sloan, van lier, walker) and made playoffs almost every year.expansion in middle 90's forced nba teams take players with less talent that wouldn't play in nba before.
@termanogue sturn is responsible for the expansion, more money-less quality!as concern navarro isn't the best in europe(is star for sure)and show his offensive talent in nba to(scored 11p.in 20min)but isn't good def and this is his main problem.but there are many great european players that never played in nba(i could tell u but i dont hink u know them) and also many american players who could play in nba(wouldnt be stars but average or good players).anyway there arent more than 30-5 nba stars.
@termanogue the way u speak i understand u know shit abou b-ball.u have no argumensts and u keep saying same things.thank u for protecting me for my comments but u better protect yourself.now u can keep leaving in your fairy tale and have an opinion without knowledge!many young kids are like u...goodbye!
@termanogue calm down man,if u don't want to argue is ok but don't be upset.ok top10 is exaggerative but what i want to prove is that jennigs is a good nba player but in europe was avr.spanoulis didn;t play in nba but is much better player than jennigs.i know more than u think about nba and not only about today but all nba eras since 60's and know most nba rosters ever.i played b-ball many years and i say that more today's nba players try to be good athlets but not other skills like shooting
@AdreasTheGreat Just because you know the players names and their how big of stars they were doesn't mean you realistically understand the dynamics of everything pertaining to the era, which ever era you claim to know (which you're claiming to know a lot when it comes to the 60s up until now) yet you provide no statistical proof for this belief. Not only that but you fail to prove it realistically, in a way that will compare the eras down to the fact that there were less teams in that era
@termanogue man i do not only know playes name but i watcn b-ball live almost 25 years and not only nba as u but also european.before that i know from old staff and internet.we can talk about b-ball if u want and u 'll realise it.i never said euro b-ball is better than nba but what many experts say that is closer than everit's n ot accidently that play more foreign players than ever.i disagree with this cause every country has different gamestye and i think nba changed last years.
@termanogue for example when jennigs(very good nba player)was playing in europe was no 2choice behind same age jaaber(american player who i think is better palyer than him) in pg in an avr italian team but now is top 10 pg in nba.spanoulis was much-much better player than jennigs but didn't have than chance to play in nba or maybe he didn't like it.u even don;t know diamantidis,navarro,siskauskas,,teletovic...did u know smush parker 2years main lakers pg playing in an avr greek team before?
@xXxFB4LxXx i am a big nba fan and i watch games almost everyday...at last lockout is over!i only said that europe is closer than ever in nba and the proof is that this time play most european players ever play in nba...many of them were averagin europe....like gallinari,turkoglu,okur,batum...are good player in nba!i never said europe is better than nba but i said that nba was better in 80's and 90's....do u disagree?
Oh I agree. Basketball was much more team-oriented in the 80s and 90s. They had better teams. But saying the Euroleague is better is outrageous. By the way, Okur is bad in the NBA, Turkoglu and Batum are average, and Galinari is okay.
@xXxFB4LxXx i never said euroleague is better!i said that is closer to nba than ever but of course nba is better!i also refere some good players that play in nba but there are also many superstars like dirk, pau, gasol, prime kirilenko and stojakobic...there are also many good players like m.gasol,kaman,scola...okur is bad after the injuries he had but in his prime avr 18p and 8reb...that's not bad!it's not accidently that usa national team lost 5-6 years by european teams,do u remember dreamteam1?
Okur was not a good player... 18 pts and 8 Reb is what I'd expect from a lengthy PF who's starting. Kirelenko is average, All Stojakobic can do is shoot.
Scola is soft, so is pau. Good players, but too soft. However I will say Euroleague is closer than ever.
@xXxFB4LxXx basically i agree wirt u but there are not many players average 18-8!d.west,aldridge,jamison...average similar stas and are good players!prime kirilenko was good player and great defender!he avr 16p. 7reb. 4as. 2steals 3blocks...he was in the same level with josh smith in my opinion but after many serious injuries is not the same player.as concern peja, with the same logic r.allen only can shoot!peja was one of the best shooters of nba and 2nd best player in very good early 00's kings
@AdreasTheGreat i think that in 80's or early 90's players like okur, turkoglu, bargniani, gallinari could n't make in the nba!i remember that kukoc, divac radja,divac,drazen...were like GODS in europe and had a good career in nba to.in my opinion only dirk, pau, parker have the skills to play in the gold nba era!!despite all this i look forward to watch at last nba games, thank god the lockout is over at last!
Força Pete Mickeal the Great!

AdreasTheGreat 11 months ago

AdreasTheGreat 11 months ago

AdreasTheGreat 3 months ago
@AdreasTheGreat
Oh I agree. Basketball was much more team-oriented in the 80s and 90s. They had better teams. But saying the Euroleague is better is outrageous. By the way, Okur is bad in the NBA, Turkoglu and Batum are average, and Galinari is okay.
xXxFB4LxXx 3 months ago
@xXxFB4LxXx i never said euroleague is better!i said that is closer to nba than ever but of course nba is better!i also refere some good players that play in nba but there are also many superstars like dirk, pau, gasol, prime kirilenko and stojakobic...there are also many good players like m.gasol,kaman,scola...okur is bad after the injuries he had but in his prime avr 18p and 8reb...that's not bad!it's not accidently that usa national team lost 5-6 years by european teams,do u remember dreamteam1?
AdreasTheGreat 3 months ago
@AdreasTheGreat
Okur was not a good player... 18 pts and 8 Reb is what I'd expect from a lengthy PF who's starting. Kirelenko is average, All Stojakobic can do is shoot.
Scola is soft, so is pau. Good players, but too soft. However I will say Euroleague is closer than ever.
xXxFB4LxXx 2 months ago
@xXxFB4LxXx basically i agree wirt u but there are not many players average 18-8!d.west,aldridge,jamison...average similar stas and are good players!prime kirilenko was good player and great defender!he avr 16p. 7reb. 4as. 2steals 3blocks...he was in the same level with josh smith in my opinion but after many serious injuries is not the same player.as concern peja, with the same logic r.allen only can shoot!peja was one of the best shooters of nba and 2nd best player in very good early 00's kings
AdreasTheGreat 2 months ago
@AdreasTheGreat i think that in 80's or early 90's players like okur, turkoglu, bargniani, gallinari could n't make in the nba!i remember that kukoc, divac radja,divac,drazen...were like GODS in europe and had a good career in nba to.in my opinion only dirk, pau, parker have the skills to play in the gold nba era!!despite all this i look forward to watch at last nba games, thank god the lockout is over at last!

@AdreasTheGreat
Yeah but Ray allen is far better of a shooter. Also he could drive and pass and finish when he was in his prime.
