  • No rat like FAT RAT,,,

  • Thats what im talkin bout

  • This song still goes hard at an old school party.

  • She had some hits... "Living in Ecstasy", "Touch me all night long", She was an up and coming artist. She didn't last long, but while she was lasting, she made some hits. My friend is the father of her son, and when we went to see her perform...she can put on a show! NYC represent!!!

  • @djredbonediva What u talking about she is still lasting and ready to come out again. U don't know what your talking about ???????

  • @razeal96 - I do know what i'm talking about Razeal96. She is lasting when it comes to her hits from the 80's. She has not produced anything since the 90's. Yes, she is still touring and guest appearances. You said "she is ready to come out again" - when???...she hasn't come out in decades. I love her classice tracks, I wish she would make more music...love her flow.

  • Yummie to the soul. OH Yeh. :-)))))

  • @Bijan630: You sound like you were a part of my crew because that is exactly what we used to do. As soon as the clubs let out we went straight to the dinner to get breakfast and then we go home shower, sleep all day and get back up to get ready to go back to the clubs. We did this Friday/Saturday nights. Sundays was recover time so we could get ready for work on Monday morning. I think i partied hard like that for 9 years straight. Many of my original crew are dead and gone but never forgotten.

  • How could anyone possibly dislike this song? Oh,...it must have been people that usually get over on people like a fat rat

  • "over like a fat rat" basically means one has gotten away with something despite being caught and most times not being caught. Its expression that was used my neighborhood alot.

  • I used to sing that song a lot when I was a toddler.

  • I agree @jaybrink! This could still be a jam right now! The 70's,80's & 90's music was the bomb!

  • Classic bass line,God knows I copped it.

  • De La Soul sampled this! I never knew the artist name, this is a great jam!

  • Yeah, the summer of 82 I was in NYC--Bed Stuy Baby! This was the JAM. I was clubbin (Serene and Bonds and the Garage) buyin tre bags, rollin fat ones, takin Snoopy's and goin to Coney Isl EVERY weekend. BLS and RKS opened me up! Memories forever!

    X-Man

  • @UndergroundSoundDC In my British Walkers BVDs & Lee flava jeans

  • I heard this song on the radio - must have been in the summer of 1982 - but I didn't hear the name of the artist and or the title of the song very clear. A little later I came acros the 12" in a record shop and thought this might be that song, I was right, immediately bought the record and it's still a classic. Glad that people are still playing it after almost 30 years (b.t.w. I'm not a native english speaker, can anyone clear this up for me: is "over like a fat rat" an expression in English?)

  • @melara111193 J Dilla has sampled the first 4 second of the song & he make the main riff from The stakes is high" De La Soul

  • OOhhh! How Larry rocked this Jam at the Garage with that legendary sound system 1982. That BASS WAS BANGIN! THE CLUB WAS SLAMMIN! There are just some things in this Life that should never end. LARRY R.I.P. YOU ARE MISSED.

  • Leroy Burgess produced several people and bands such as Black Ivory, Caprice (who performed "100 Percent), Logg, Fonda Rae (Over Like A Fat Rat), Intrigue ("Fly Girl") and others. He also wrote the song "Big Time" for Rick James, alot of people don't know that.

  • Sampled in “Eric B. Is President” by

    Eric B & Rakim

  • @Jimpsterz that would have nagged me all night. thanks man.

  • @Jimpsterz dont get me wrong ,,,, i do here Eric B. sample and bassline.... but if u listen to Frankie beverely & Maze....... song ..."Before I let go"..... could have influence that as well.....and maybe this song as well....my first time hearing my self...but i dig for sure...just straigt up good music.... i can see Eric B using both song as well.... personally i always thought it was the maze song ....but this would be easier to sample as well.....one....

  • @JimLos Rakim admitted in a NYU radio interview with P Fine that this was the inspiration. Also they played it over, no sample.

  • @Jimpsterz - You're right. When we used to hear the intro to "Eric B. for President" - Clap Your Hands To What He's Doin', we almost suffered heart attacks. It was that serious... The Wop dance was in full effect!

  • @Jimpsterz I like grand poo bah's sample better

  • @Jimpsterz ..NOT SAMPLED..THE BASSLINE WAS REPLAYED ACTUALLY..

  • @2020TYBO Exactly!

  • @Jimpsterz I thought Eric B For President was sampled from Dennis Edwards Don't Look Any Further, both bass lines are very similar

  • @shonha1 Nope. "Paid In Full" used the sample of Dennis Edwards' "Don't Look Any Further".

  • @h2junkey yep you are right
