amazing, as close to time travel as you can get, this is so precious and brings a tear to the eye, why cant it be like this any more, sod hs2 bring back these this is what we love quality characterfull comfy locos and carriages that are so nice you can fall in love with them, this is real railways. ah i miss these days so so so much
bartoncesina i dont thnk any class 37 went to chester or beyond in the 80's other than test trains from crewe, maybe your thinking of the peaks ?(a far better class of loco) haha
As a nation we should still be manufacturing locomotives and rolling stock and exporting to the rest of the world,so much changes so quickly its a shame.
Can it really be 25 years since this video was made? Can it really be the case that in that time the railways have become such a fucking dull and barren place?
In the late '70's / 80's I always used to visit home in north Wales from Victoria. Oxford road was quicker, but only had DMUs. Vicotria had the 37s, 40s and 47s - often with corridor stock. No contest!

Remember the day in1987 when instead of 45's there were a rake of 150's type 2's operating the Holyhead and llandudno routes.
Never the same again.
Plus the year before they took the 33's off the Cardiff holyhead route.
