I love this episode. I always liked Tomoyo better. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Nagisa, she's ok, but I just preffer Tomoyo for whatever reason.

I managed to hold myself together throughout the whole Clannad and almost the whole Clannad ~After Story~, but ep 21 defeated me, brought tears to my eyes. So I thought Clannad made an awesome drama all in all, but then I saw this. This ep made me cry like a baby.

This coupling is better than the original.

Best couple.

Best episode.

Best Ending.

@TrotsofFox No no. Actually, this is an alternate ending. Basically, in the original visual novel there were alternate routes asides Nagisa. There's one where Tomoya becomes Tomoyo's boyfriend, and since it was a really popular route, there was an OVA made for it. The same applied for the Fujibayashi sister, since they have their own routes plus OVA. =)

@TrotsofFox I wouldnt go so far to call him stupid, but yeah it is an alternate ending hence the title "Another World, Tomoyo arc" I thought the same thing until I thought about it after a few minutes because this show does tend to jump from arc to arc sometimes abruptly. At first I thought it was supposed to represent him years later as an early start to the second season as some animes tend to do as well.

This arc was so... Forced... There were no problems, but they made it into a problem anyway.

Tomoya supposedly thinks he'd drag Tomoyo down, barely getting by with a crappy job and crappy reputation. Well, he could become a cop or something. All you need's high school education, pass some tests and bam you're one. Cops are respectable too, problem solved.

There was a manga continuation to this world where Tomoya and Tomoyo get together and well it doesnt end pretty, its only 4 chapters and its definitely worth a read but if you cant be bothered I'll spoil it in next post (wont fit in this one)

Tomoya gets involved in a car accident where he receives looping short term amnesia and well basically every <10 days, Tomoya experiences head pains and forgets again. Tomoyo basically starts over with Tomoya again and makes him fall for her only for him to forget about him in the <10 days. Eventually out of guilt, Tomoya gets surgery to cure his amnesia although the surgery kills him after parting words with Tomoyo T_T
