  • didn't they recently change the method of CPR, leaving out the rescue breaths until after five minutes. An EMT unit out in Arizona has since raised it's resuscitation rate from 5%, to 24.5%

  • no, 2 rescue breaths 30 compressions

  • That makes more sense.

  • Whoa. She went right into chest compressions and didn't even check for a pulse! Rescue breaths first! You can have a heartbeat without breathing.

  • yup I just got certified 2 rescue breaths first. if the breaths don't go in re-position the head and try again. If that doesn't work, start chest compressions 30, then check the mouth for an object.

  • You're supposed to give the two rescue breaths before you start the chest compressions

  • No it has changed. Only two rescue breaths in children and babies. Adults-go straight to CPR (if they are not breathing) that is why you much get certified once a year. It changes. I just got certified three weeks ago with the American Red Cross.

  • I took the American Heart class last week and they told me two rescue breaths. This video is 3 years old...

  • just want to clear this up.. how do you know they have a broken neck ?? and what you gona do about it ?? if they aint breathing they gona die from that , Not a broken neck !! It is now DRABC and compressions first unless on child or drowning,. Please before leavin comments check your info is upto date.

  • LOL IM SJAB Its DRAC.. Danger Respond Airway Ciculation...

  • Actually, we're currently learning this in PE and it's:

    DRABCD

Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, Compression and something starting with D that is used once the ambulance arrives, it's a machine so we're only really focusing on what we can do to help before the pros step in.

Also, it's currently 30 compressions and 2 breaths, at as many cycles as you do before help arrives.

  • I believe that last D would be.. Defibrillate? xD

  • That's the one :)

I noticed after I watched the video (AFTER I commented XD)

Shows how good a CPR person I am, yipes.

  • Heyy, that's okay. I can never remember the R.I.C.E. rules for sprains and fractures off-hand. xD

  • thats not a proper checking of ABC....Airway,Breathing and circulation...and the new version of cpr is 30:2 (30 compressions with 2 ventilation) at 5 cycles.

  • i remember i was dead for an couple of minutes, i got downed by C.M. i really have no idea HOW but i got brought back to life, thought i would not survive those horrible minutes of my life.ever since that, i always protect my self from fucking C.M. i hate it.

  • This is crap. Establish airway and 2 rescue breaths first. What is the point of using chest compressions to pump deoxygenated blood through someone?

  • There is around 4 minutes worth of oxygen on the haemoglobin therefore it's better to get the blood circulating than giving the rescue breaths.

  • I think some people here should seek proper training in the correct protocols.

  • she didn't check to see if the neck was already broken. Your patient is now dead, thank you for flying "Shitty lifesavers airways".

  • they checked the breathing, but not the pulse what the hell?!

rescue breathing is for no breath. CPR is for no pulse

  • I think it's the new protocol.

  • Comment removed

  • I learned it much differently. What if they're not breathing but have a pulse?

  • there are many wrong in this video for cpr ?

  • i learned exactly this way at school for nursing

  • she didnt check for aspirations, you sould allways check, so you dont "choke" him when you lift his chin

  • Now im confused..shouldnt you give rescue breaths first if the person is not breathing? Then check for the carotid pulse, if there are nonpalpable then proceed to chest compression. Well at lest that is what i know and would do in case this situation like this happens.

  • The newest guidelines from the European Ressuscitation Council state that chest compressions should be initiated, in adults, without checking for a pulse. You can of course check for a pulse while you're checking for breathing but the guidelines state that chest compressions must commence immediatly after making sure the person is not breathing. The idea is that mouth-to-mouth or mask-to-mout breathing isn't very effective.

You can check the guidelines at the council's webpage. :)

  • Correct.

  • yea, if the victim isnt breathing, u should start by giving him two full rescue breaths, nd wait for him to exhale. if he/she is still unresponsive, u check his circulation. if the heart's not beating, u proceed to chest compressions (5 sets of 30 compressions, with 2 breaths between each set). the easy way to remember this is by learning ur ABC's. (airway, breathing, circulation / compressions)

  • di2 sa pinas ..puro mouth to mouth lang

    lol hahah

  • What if they have really big breasts.

  • then you have lots of fun

  • lol!!

  • srry sweety but ur teacher was wrong... if you know where to put the compressions just go for it....

  • My teacher told me just start pumping on there chest is dangerous. Your supposed to find the middle of the nipples or find the spot btwn the armpit. he also said that you have to make sure your not going to low or to high. but this video just goes for it. :(

  • I am a Canadian lifeguard annd:

    1.Check breathing

    2.Check circulation

    3. two breaths

    4. 30 compressions.

    5. 5 cycled of breaths and compressions.

    6. check breathing and circulation again.

    7. 5 cycles.

obviously if the person waked up at step 4, then you stop. but this video was close, but no cigar.

  • wow over here in New York in thr Firefighter book it says to do 15 compressions it just shows how different countries can be

  • You better get an updated book.

  • yea i know i checked it and it was an old book lol thanx though so yea it is 30 now

  • what about rescue breaths

  • Some people asked whether calling 911 or starting compressions should happen 1st. you're supposed to tell someone to go 911 & a AED however if you are allown you can quickly go call 911 when ding CPR on an adult but if it's on children or infants you should do one round of 2 breths 60 compressions and 2 more breaths before calling 911 Since child/infants get brain damage much sooner then adult as their brains are still developing. 9 is concidered adult in CPR so 9+ 911 first, 8under compress 1st

  • Stop writing what the video has just explained! The only thing it didn't show was her checking the airway if anything was stopping the casualty from breathing.

  • 1. Danger

    2. Response

    3. Shout for help

    4. Airway.

    5. breathing

    6. Circulation (not neccessary)

When you shout for Help, and someone comes to offer help, tell him to wait a moment. Check if airway is clear. Then breathing. if casualty is NOT breathing, only then u tell him to call ambulance and return back. 2 rescue breaths. 30 compressions. assuming help has not arrived, continue 30:2 for one minute, call help. come back. continue 30:2.

source: im a Lifeguard. and a Turkish one too lol.

  • nice i wanna be a lifeguard too, can you tell me what i should learn and do?

    btw im turkish too:P lol

  • ahh thats great :) to be a lıfeguard u must apply to a lıfeguard course. adım mehmet memlun oldum :)

  • how long is the lifeguard course? bende burhan, bende memlun oldum. nerede yasiyorsunuz? Canada mi?

  • Londra da yasıyorum. lıfeguard course ıs 1 week. ıncludes unıt 1 and unıt 2 traınıng (unıt 1: poolsıde emergency and unıt 2: CPR and first aid)

  • yeah that is 100% right I am a certified lifeguard and those are the steps

  • sooooo wrong.. what about checking airways?

  • wrong. U should LET someone call the ambulance, while you do CPR ^^

  • what if you're alone?

  • yea im not sure if its just the Army that does it differntly but we always check pulses and give a rescue breath.

  • I love the way people are writing out what the video just said haha!!!

  • what age would you start doing this at because a child is up to 8yrs so wwhat age would you class somebody as an adult

  • Adult CPR. Activate the Emergency Response system & ask for an AED. 1. Make sure scene is safe. 2. Be wearing BSI. (Body Substance Isolation) 3. Check for responsiveness. 4. Open the airway, using head-tilt chin-lift. If suspected spinal injury use jaw-thrust maneuver. 5. Look for chest rise, Listen for breathing, feel for breathing in the jaw near the ear lobe. 6. Check the carotid pulse. 7. Start CPR. Five cycles of 30 compressions to 2 breaths. 30:2 for 1 rescuer CPR.
  • Look, if the airway is blocked, wouldn't you want to know ahead of time? It's true that the heart is the 'engine' of the body and that getting the heart pumping is vital to make the lungs (and other organs) work, but it only takes a second to physically check if an obstruction is present in the airway first. After all, the heart is the one organ that still beats and has electrical 'charge' long after other bodily systems have failed.

    Airway first!

  • watch my cpr video at "Farewell Teddy". its tragic. :(

  • i did this last week

thanxs for having this video because i know i will forget how to do cpr on a adult

  • thanks for this!!

  • You Wallards...This is wrong

  • Why is this wrong?

This is the procedure that should be used by all British Training Authorities and is the current UK standard, outlined by the European Resuscitation Council.

I am a first aid instructor and have recently had to renew my training and trained with three different large first aid organisations and this is the current UK tecnique that was taught the same in all three and is the way I teach.

  • good man!!!

  • arent u not supose to lock ur hands and us flat palm so it doesnt injure u or the guy thats knocked out and ur supose to breath in first then compress right

  • The magical things to remember:

    a. 30 chess compressions on middle of chess bone...in order to distribute blood to the vital organs (mainly brain)

b.pinch nose to keep air from escaping victim and put you mouth on their mouth and blow in 2 quick breaths

c.repeat until vitim starts breathing on their own

d.also make sure emergency is on their way to help also :)

  • 1.if the place safe

    2. check unresponsivness

    3. open airways

    3. Give him 2 breaths

    4. check the puls

    5. If no puls, start compressions

    6. if the puls is more than 55 - use resque breathing (adult 12 in a minute; 1 in 5 seconds)This video is wrong

  • After checking airways, give him 2 breaths, check the puls and Then start the compressions; if the person has a puls he does not need compressions

  • I've only red two comments and already agree.

To me, an engine won't start or run w/o oxygen to ignite the gas 1st. So why turn it over, stop, then give it air? To me, that's stressing what little oxygen IS in the system more.

But what do I know? I'm just some dumbass mechanic, not a board of ass hats that make billions of dollars and oversees this shit gets to millions.

  • An adult has only uses approximately 80% of their breath so they therefore have 20% left in their lungs, in CPR this is plenty to start off pushing around the body.

For basic CPR there is no longer any need to check the pulse and proceed differently depending on that, check for breathing, if the airway is clear and a patient is not breathing perform CPR as shown in the video at 30:2. the video is showing the current UK reccomeneded and taught guidlines

  • This was posted by the BRITISH Red Cross and the sequence appears to be based on Resuscitation Council(UK)Guidelines 2005 (which are the current guidelines).

I am amazed at how many people have posted incorrect and/or misleading information in response to this video. I'd suggest that anyone that is interested in, or needs to know CPR should not be looking here!

  • this is wrong!!

    airway is first

then give 2 rescue breath and then the massage.

  • heck

  • I hope I'll never have to do this

  • Put a breath in , no rise then re-ajust...

still no breath in , start compressions.

maybe he has something blocking his air way???? The compression may force it up, then look in mouth, you see.."scoop & flick".

  • Wrong. If breathing is less than normal, you give two breaths. If there is no pulse, you give 30 compressions.

If you're being assisted by a partner you would give two breaths to 15 compressions. If the patient has a pulse you discontinue compressions. This what I know of CPR.This video is out wrong.

  • The steps in the video are fine, it is intended for lay rescuers. Curent guidelines do not recommend pulse check by lay rescuers; only for healthcare providers (BLS), additionally the 15:2 ratio is for two-rescuer on child/infant. So the video is correct for adult rescue.

  • until yesterday I've heard that cpr was Dangerous,I'll look for a red cross agency nearest by to ask them how could I perform that thing without doing more harm than good to anybody in case of accident.

  • Hi BritRedCross, Thank You for your CPR video re. fainting / seizure 'at work'

Dehydration & HYPOglycemia are 2 factors that lead to FUEL-anemia 'attack' of dizzyness or fainting as a result of being 'fuel-exhausted'

Unfortunately the current practice of CPR [which exhausts fuel from the body] avoids immediately rubbing a spoonful of honey inside mouth and/or injecting glucagon or rapidly providing GLUCOSE & hydration

    Why?

Warm thanks; Nick Gracey, WATerian @ 10:14hrs SAT.02.AUG.2008 GMT

  • she didn't check his fucking circulation

    he might just be choking

  • gooooooooooooooooood

  • this video would kill more ppl than save.

CPR is being reevaluated right now since people believe its killing more people than it is saving.

  • Hi nitdkim, re. CPR ...

Why do You think "... people believe its killing more people than it is saving. ..."

In what way may fibrillation [when fainted and so little skeletal muscle requirement for fuel] help regulate optimum fuel supply to the brain & heart muscle ?

EG suggesting shortage of fuel led to fainting / seizure in the first place ?

Warm thanks; Nick Gracey, WATerian @ 10:07hrs SUN.03.AUG.2008 GMT

  • I have my own ideas about "adult" CPR

  • LOL!

  • plz demonstrate 4 us

  • If their not moving poke em with a stick

  • um they didn't even say to check for a pulse.

  • because the new method you dont check for a pulse

  • I still don't understand...she's going to have to redo this video naked

  • hahahahaha funny pervert

  • what about the 2 rescue breaths to start, you dont go streight into chest compressions expecially if you havent checked for a pulse

  • the is the Red Cross way, the American Heart association says to use 2 rescue breaths then check for breathing, if not breathing, start CPR 30:2 for an adult.

  • I know, it keeps changing but the new regulations are designed for the lay rescuer. Pulses to somebody untrained can be hard to find and take time, especially if it is weak so the new regulations try to simplify it by using the look, listen & feel approach. Also it has been recently worked out that an adult has 20% air left in their lungs at all times so there is no need for staring rescue breaths anymore.

  • Good video!

  • Thank You, I needed that!

  • hmmm

  • Waving money in front of the face works too

  • hate to tell you but compressions need to be A LOT harder than that to be effective

  • This is not neccesarily not hard enough. These manikins have been designed especially for CPR. And they have a click feature, this is when the right depth of compressions has been reached they will make a click, if it is not hard enough it will not click.

if you listen carefully you can hear the click on each compression

  • wow

  • a better way to save a life is to listen to the fray.

  • OW HELP !!!

He got no legs xD xD

  • to save a life all you have to do is fly very quickly in the opposite direction of the rotation of the earth, then when time goes back a bit, just pop down and save the day. Easier that this silliness.

  • i don't care....

i know how to save someone unlike that woman there..

  • she didn't check his fucking circulation

    he might just be choking

  • like this. you should watch confessions of a white boy then

  • that dude was like "what the fuck is she talking about"

  • LoL

You Know your in Brittain when a Pakistani Man comes to see whats going on lololol :)

    DAYNJJAAA!!!

  • to save a life all you have to do is call the power rangers. or if it's at night just find a big spot light and draw the batman logo. then point it at the sky. nuh nuh nuh nuh BATMAN!

  • holy lord. mikejhonson555 is fuckin hilarious.

  • LOL AT HOW HE SAYS "FETCH IT"

  • If they are not moving, take their credit cards and money ,and run like fuck!

  • also, cop a feel if its a girl.

  • this is really funny because i just came back from a first aid exam

  • They should have women manikins, i think its sexist in a way because its always a male manikin.

Its one of those stupid things in life like if i looked at a woman butt and went "ooh nice" i'd be a pervert but if a women looked at a mans butt and went "ooh nice" it wouldn't be pervy and it would be a compliment.

Am i the only one that thinks this?

  • shut up, ur discusting!!

  • Thanks Chuck!

  • This is old, now u should get the AED and call 911 even before you check for breathing...POINTING to someone in the crowd to call 911 is the best because, true story, people won't call 911 because they think someone else is doing it. Always point

  • you should never leave your victim, so don't get the defibrillator (AED) yourself... let someone else get it! (like they show in this video)

  • very educational

  • she can do CPR on me anyday

  • are u serious? eww..

  • Umm... does this CPR procedure also in America?

  • Yeah, it's the same.

  • its sad how easy this stuff is to forget. just sayin.

  • very helpful piece

  • british r really funny to me idk y

  • yeah man there gay.

  • lol

  • This is gotta be outdated, you don't need to do the rescue breaths anymore. Also, for those who don't know, 9 out of 10 times, you will break a rib while performing CPR so don't mess around with it unless absolutely neccisary.

  • What about compression only based methods?

Might be simpler for a youtube video with similar results/no cracked ribs.

  • THIS IS HOT!

    GETIN OFF ON CPR

  • it reminds me of the vid we watched in school for gym....ugh

  • Hey its Katherine I am a singer and I was wondering if you guys can check out my video it is not the best of my videos on my computer I am uploading my favorite now it will be up in 5 minutes please check it out and leave some comment, compliment or advice thanks!

  • after that he will die looooool

  • Finally something useful on youtube. Great idea guys. Would like to see more of this being featured on the front page.

  • CPR = Canadian Pacific Railway?

  • You arent even supposed to do mouth to mouth its just compressions.

  • Americans are trained to only do compressions. Canadians and Brits use compressions & mouth to mouth (but they use pocket masks).

  • Americans still do mouth-to-mouth we practice 30 comressins and two breaths. the two breaths have not been ruled out its just in discussion as of now

  • GUYS- This is So outdated. It's not thirty compressions anymore. If someone was relying on this video to "save a life" then that person is a goner.

  • what do you mean its not thiry compressions anymore... also, if someone needed CPR to begin with they only have 2% chance of survival with CPR/defribillation.

  • what do you mean its not thiry compressions anymore... also, if someone needed CPR to begin with they only have 2% chance of survival with CPR/defribillation.

  • 7% untill after the initial first 7 mins then it drops to 2%

  • the 30 compression can still save a life but it's just not the best way it's like an old camera it can still take photographs but there's better equipment it's better then nothing... so saying the person's a goner because of the 30 compression cpr is dumb. saying the person has a less percent chance then if they had been applied the current cpr technique would be a more proper way of saying it. And they'd have even less percent chance of living if nothing was applied to them.

  • /watch?v=uUVBahUZvSI

  • sub 4 sub any one?

hit me up ;D and i will reply back

  • WTF BSI?

    How old is this video?

We haven't done Mouth to Mouth in years.

Do not put your mouth on his unless you feel like picking up HIV or some nasty Shit.

Use a Bag or Pocket mask, or MicroSheild or for the love of God at least through your tee-shirt over his mouth!!

And what about checking for a pulse? Just cause he ain't breathing doesn't mean his heart aint beatin.

jeez this is a terrible video.

I cant believe Youtube featured this crap under "how to save a life"

  • Also,

You need to wailin on the Pt. The rate of compressions should be 100/Minuite.

Thats about 2 per second... so you should be going at it like a madman.

Improper CPR does nothing but break bones, no blood is movin if your doing it wrong.

Go take a real ARC or AHA CPR/AED class.

Or better yet... go take a First Responder class, and the clinicals, and become a First Responder.

  • Clockwork33a: go take an ACLS (Advanced cardiac life support) class and realize how much of a retard you really are.

  • 100 compressions per minute is not 'going at it like a madman'

it's actually slower than you think.

  • Wow. Someone who thinks you can contract HIV via saliva giving medical advice. *Cringe*

  • i dont think u have to blow anymore just keep doing the chest pump

  • THE RED CROSS ARE DIRTBAGS i have heard way to many instances of them fucking over the soldiers (U.S)

  • How do you know if someone has a ruptured aorta? I would think pumping their chest who make it worse.
