You have to take a class after a tandem. Depending on the type of class you take, you'll jump somewhere around 7 times with an instructor. If the instructor feels safe graduating you, then you can jump completely by yourself.

It was about $100 USD but that was cheap because Americans had a great exchange rate with Canada (where I jumped) in 2002. I would assume skydiving in general is between $150-200

I'm planning to do this in Australia. The minimum height is 8000ft and I can't find any price under $300. Going up to 14000ft prices go up to $500.

If you want to have it filmed like this, they charge another $175. Those are astronomical prices. A bit unfair if you ask me

I did it through Skydive Vancouver - 604 327 5867. You will tandem your first time; if he's still there request the former Soviet paratrooper turned Canadian diving instructor. His English is not 100% but he knows what he's doing and our landing was smooth
