The Muppet Show always had this fantastic ability to make fun of people, habits and culture without ridiculing them! I love their sense of humour!

  • @Wagadugu64 exeis alla video ton muppet me ellinika????? An exeis pes mou pou !!!!!!!!

  • @Wagadugu64 Συγγνώμη, αλλά, αν δεν κάνω λάθος, στο τέλος ο γέρος λέει «Greek music: very appropriate for the pigs».

  • @bernardca That's a good observation. It's also amazing how this show stays good-natured even when there's monsters eating people and a guy dynamiting the theater. I miss these muppeteers.

  • It is not the barbarian's fault really!... After all they 're just ignorant and naive barbarians, they know no better. It is our fault essentially. Lured by the easy profit of the tourist industry we sold out our civilization, our very soul, for a generous tip!

  • Great video! The music of Manos Hadjidakis and Mikis Theodorakis all over the world! Instead of the opinion of many Greek users I love it! Behind the funny surface is the essence, the meaning of life. Laugh, enjoy your life no matter what. It's the Greek way!

  • the pigs are greasy!

    xaxaxaxa gamatooo

  • This isnt offencing to any Greeks at all. How dare you! Exotic Greek Dancers? That makes us sound like tropical birds! The Greek cultture isnt just about throwing dishes, saying opa, dancing the zorba dance, or eating baklava and gyros. Its so much more! You people have no respect! This is racist! You sterotypical Morons!! >:(

  • Mmmh walking Gyros.

  • @Durhandoni lol

  • Hehehe, I guess the brits are afraid the pigs are going to take back all the artworks created by the ancient pigs when the brits were living in caves and trees and did not know what culture is!

  • @shockolanu Well, the brits had a prime culture when greeks lived in caves. Stonehenge (astronomy), round barrows (religios culture). 2500 Years before greek antic society rised. It all depends on the point of view, if you call it a culture or not, but it was definetly more sophisticated than greece society at this time. There are no megalith in greece.

  • @Durhandoni Stonehenge I - 3000BC. Minoan civilization - 7000 BC. By the time Stonehenge was built the Minoans already had palaces not some goofy giant stones to which they prayed. There are pyramids in Greece, you should look it up.

  • @shockolanu Well not 7000 bc 3100 bc is the first dated ruin on crete, certainly not 7000. Well i said, it depends on point of view. And besides, an irakian is not an Mesopotamian and a Minoan is not a greek.

  • @Durhandoni The ruins you mentioned, are not minoian, but from a less developed culture.

  • @Durhandoni The Palace of Knossos is Minoan. The Knossos area shows signs of culture and ancient settlements from 7000 BC.

  • @shockolanu Yes, but the ruins before 3500 BC are "assumed" to be from another culturel origin. I know this topic, i´m archaeologican.

  • @Durhandoni Archaelogican? LOL! What other origin? As you might know history is based upon valid sources. You claim that the ruins before 3500BC are "assumed"... to assume is to speculate, to suppose, not to know. The ruins before 3500 BC are of the same culture but they have different characteristics because they are much older than the royal palace and are built by normal people not famed architects.

If you are an archeologist, how about giving Greece back her artworks that were stolen by UK??

  • @shockolanu OMG Easy, structure of the groundplan shows that it is neolithican. Because there is no evidence of an architectural line of development it is assumed to be another society. It´s highly unrealistic, but not impossible, that a society survived this long at one place, without getting forced to move.

Ancient history is always based on hypothesis, because source material is too little to get an opinion based on proof. But I guess you´re still believing in the doric hike. Hilarious

  • @Durhandoni Neolithical not neolithican, LOL... some archaeologican. Of course the structures show neolithical traits... they date from neolithic. There are many cities in Crete that share similar traits and of course there is no architectural line, the base of Minoan architecture is put by the Knossos palace. As an ARCHEOLOGIST you should know that there are many more evidences except the structures. You can take into account the language spoken and the pottery style which shows the evolution.

  • @Durhandoni History is based on sources and not only archeological ones but also by old writings and linguistics. The Minoans were forced to move after the earthquake that devastated the area (Santorini). You can do some research on the Pelasgo who migrated all over ancient Greece and are recorded in different places at different times.

The Doric pillars are widely spread through Greece and apparently originate from Crete. You are either lying about being an archeologist or you are a disgrace.

  • @shockolanu I stop this controversy now. Read Robin Osbornes and Jonathan Hall. . It was no hike, there is a gap between the mykene and the doric culture, about 150 years. But wait, they are Tommys. They have to lie. You´re just someone, who falls for 19. century nationalistic history writers, propaganda to liberate the greek from the osman. No, and i´m not british, nor turkish origin. I´m tired talking to someone, who got his knowledge about history in school books and documentarys.

  • @Durhandoni Hahaha, You lie that you are an archeologist. You are a retard... the Minoan culture shares not only similar pottery with Mycenae, they also share a similar dialect and writing. Look up Linear A & B, fake archaeologist!

  • @shockolanu I´ve compared doric and mycenae culture in my last post, if you read it again. Rolleyes

  • @Durhandoni stop smoking weed. It´s not healthy.

  • @Durhandoni You're a retard, please stop wasting my time.

  • @shockolanu Chauvinistic loser.

  • @Durhandoni That doesn't change the fact that you're a retard who poses as an archeologist but knows absolutely nothing about ancient history and architectural styles.

  • @shockolanu Just because i can´ get an argument with someone, who twists my words into other meaning and argumenting with outdated facts???

  • @Durhandoni What argument??? Name your argument. You say that the Minoan column style has no connection to the Doric one and then, you jump to the fact that Mycenean style has no connection to Doric. In your point of view not a single archeological find has any connection with the other.

You say you are archeologist but you lack the BASES of what archeology means. What are your facts? The fact that you don't know enough about the Ancient Greek culture? Go learn, I have better things to do.

  • Yes, smoking weed.

  • @Durhandoni As I said before you are a retard who wastes my time. I suggest you go learn because inexperienced archeologists such as yourself can destroy dig sites.

  • @shockolanu Just insulting. Bla bla bla. You´re just jealous, that i made my way through college and you´re sitting at home blowing your head, watching documentarys about corp cirles.

  • @Durhandoni Not insulting, just stating what I see. You don't know me and I have no reason to be jealous. Quite frankly, I've been taught from a very young age that jealousy and envy are very bad feelings thus I don't feel envy or jealousy.

You made your way through college but most probably you cheated during exams because you have no idea what you are talking about.

Actually, I didn't watch a documentary about crop circles for about 1 year when I saw one on TV.

  • Comment removed

  • @Durhandoni If you are archaeologican then I am astonautonican....

I think you are just ignorant....

  • @Durhandoni You have no idea what you are talking about. Crete has been inhabited by Greeks during the Minoan civilization. Not Greeks as in the Hellenic tribe of Grecae from Southern Italy but by other Hellenic tribes indigenous to the Crete area. Some of them called Pelasgo.

I know many people from Iran and Syria who identify themselves as Assyrians both by culture and beliefs.

If Minoan is not Greek how come the Minoan Kings had Greek names?

Swing......and a miss........!!!!!!!

  • That's ok. The fact with all those dishes is that if it something tastes good, you learn how to cook it, wherever you are from, so maybe it would be better to say that they belong to the East Mediterranean people. Since there is no way to prove where it was made for the first time, we can just assume.

  • Και εγώ.

  • No, those Greeks are from the mainland. Why, are Greeks from Alexandria or Asia Minor less Greeks than the rest? Do you believe that 200 years ago they were offering bobonieres in weddings? Where did they found them, especially in the villages? I haven't tasted Baklava in Turkey or in the Arab countries yet, but I will when I'll have the opportunity.

  • Why, your mother doesn't know how to prepare it? "oriental patisseries" appeared in Greece 15 years ago. Baklava (made with walnuts) is traditionally offered in weddings and when a child is born in many places of Greece. I will agree on the houmous part anyway. I have tasted it for the first time in a Libanese restaurant.

  • one question: where are the stereotypes?

  • well here's a short list of some that can be seen or heard on this video: never on sunday itself, the tavern, the arbor pergola over the patio, ouzo-metaxa, zorba dance, myconos, opa, retsina, baklava, breaking plates, bouzouki sound...we just don't see those things in a stereotypically way

  • The two best parts were when the chicken smashed the plate and when animal fired the gun. Classic! Some of you guys need to chill out. This was done 30 years ago, yet it's still funny. There were more silly stereotypes in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" then there were in this. Laugh a little vre paidia!

  • I agree with the fact it is a bit sad, thats the only thing they know about us... But it is funny :)

  • I'm agree with you, I'm Italian, and there are so many things they don't know about us, well, I hope they will discover it one day!!! ^_^ lol

  • it is kinda insulting that the only thing they know about us is "zormpas" & "mykonos" but other than that it is cute!!!!

  • I loved this. Greeks rock! :D

  • Then pas ne gamethis vre aliti! Take it easy guys - the Muppets actually honored all of us by bringing this music, dance, food, culture to MILLIONS and you are finding a malakia comment to take such a strong position on. Perhaps you are projecting other issues on this poor little funny clip. I say - NAAAAAAA
