I liked Alton's cadence and accent a lot more in the early episodes. I guess the Food Network execs told him he sounded too Southern (for irony, see Paula Dean) and wanted him to lose the slight accent he had. For the worse, guys.

The show also isn't as silly as it has gotten in the past few seasons. He was having fun and entertaining but not a clown.

Alton is no chef, he isn't stuck up enough to be one, though Chef Batali is really cool in person.

I think Alton makes a great TV chef, because he was a director before he was a chef.
