this is the Best scene in movie history- the only thing better is Peter Cook as Drimble Wedge and the vegetations singing ... "you fill me with inertia"
@PCEntertainment2 you were bored with the original ? ok so now we can see you are a bore and the humor went over your head - the original was very smart clever histerical great music great actors
did anyone know that this was directed by stanley donan a quite established film director from the 50's and 60's he did numerous films withaudrey hepburn
Agreed! I actually thought the Remake was the first one. Until I saw the original one of television with my mum, we only saw the 2nd half of the film becasue it was late at night and we hunted down the DVD and got it.
The remake took the plot of the original and threw out all the wit and invention of Peter Cook's vision. It was just an excuse for Liz Hurley to walk around in scantily-clad outfits. Well, I can use the internet to find that for free.
Anyway, this might be my favorite section of Bedazzled. Brilliant satire of pop music.
Nothing has changed since the 60's - people still fall all over themselves for the "next big pop star", but then forget all about them when a new one steps on the scene. Bravo Moore and Cook, for still being relevant!
i guess thats the way it was in the 60s one hit and ur a star for 5 mins then the next hit comes along and ur history, dudley moore and peter cook wrote this song and composed the music for it too.
Would have been nice. Maybe it was a technical thing. The best shots of the performance were by the television cameras and the filming cameras had to be off to the side to catch the atmosphere of the TV studio/Margaret's reactions. I think it was a nice touch though they switched to black and white for the whole scene. It's like Stanley is in "TV World."
This song is incredibly good & coupled with:'The LS Bumblebee'you had songs far superior to most of the British pop chart mush of 1967;coming from big name groups.
Also this song was used as the opening credits of the film given a swingey "avengers" theme type treatment. The "tell me you need me..."section is also very Sondheim like from his "company' phase.Though Dudley's song was written earlier.Late 60's.The Brits have done some cool stuff with Jazz & Swing-Pop.
I've never seen this movie, but I'm going to now...Ooh, Dudley! I want you! (For reference of how he makes me feel, watch the girl who is losing it, crying, and tearing at herself) Y.U.M.
Brilliant!

Th Original 1967 is without doubt, the best. The remake was a waste of effort.

"....scantily-clad outfits."
So the outfits themselves were scantily-clad?!

@hcrun I stand corrected. Should be "walk around scantily-clad."

Here here, I have all the movies that Peter Cook and Dudley Moore did together. I loved them, the remake was a travesty! Utterly horrible!!!!

Who's comparing?
IngaMcKinley 2 years ago
compare: to make equal or alike
You stated you "loved" both versions.
The original is superior to the remake.

Compare: estimate, measure or note similarity or dissimilarity between...
The original is better than the remake. Both movies are enjoyable. Now I've compared.
IngaMcKinley 2 years ago
@IngaMcKinley I agree. Many people hate the remake, but I like them both.
Of course, the original will always remain the best and classic.

While this scene was great, there was far too much filming of the monitors and not of the performance itself.
