I kind of refuse to get a gym membership, because I don't have the money for it, so being active outside is kind of what I rely on. But I'm TOTALLY doing DDR! Good stuff. I don't have work out videos, but there's actually some good stuff on YouTube as well.
And Ohio is getting better outside now, so I can take long walks again.
I live in Chicago, so there are about three weeks of the entire year that have nice weather (can't stand the heat!) so the majority of my exercise is done inside (the exception being biking and walking). I love exercise DVDs (the 30 Day Shred is my current favourite, but I like others), yoga, and jump rope like you mentioned (but you need high ceilings for that! Couldn't do it in my old apartment but now I have 24ft high ceilings).
I have an exercise bike at home that I use a lot this time of year. Also, as you said, sit-ups and push-ups are good, or lifting small weights. (If you don't have weights, you can improvise and make some by filling two empty soda bottles with sand or water. That's both cheap and easy!)
Ohio Trip - too bad 95% of our snow has melted. All that is left is the piles in the parking lots!! LOL. To exercise inside, I have went up and down our stairs, with the music playing!! and doing a bit of a dance sshh..don't tell anyone.
My friend is a fan of aerobics videos, I've never actually done one. Also if you need to do any stretching to increase flexibility that can be done inside easily, though there's a lower likelihood of tearing a muscle if you do cardio first.
the wii fit is awesome, and while lots of those games are really just standing there doing nothing, there are some, especially under the strength catagory that kill!!
DDR is intense! We have a DDR machine on campus. I think my friends and I are the only people ever to use it xD
I recently discovered how insane just bouncing is. Lightly bounce in place, then after a while, slowly squat down (still bouncing) stay bouncing in that position for a bit, then spring back up. repeat(if desired)
As for what to do inside, CLEAN! Cleaning burns so many calories, even more if you run up and down stairs, instead of walking.
Also, any of the WIi games get you standing up and somewhat active...
Ooh, also, exploit your exercise machines or any weights you have lying around.

John;
I would be happy with four days of rain and lose all this cold and snow. With some luck you won't freeze while in Ohio.
Have a safe trip.

Those health hula hoops really help once you get the hang of it.
And going up and down the stairs is a good way to exercise without the gym :D
