How seemingly harmless and endearing Elizabeth Montgomery in Bewitched with her little nose twitch and Barbara Eden in I Dream of Jeannie made the ocult appear. How easily we all accepted it and exposed our children to it through which real demons were posessing their minds. Created to appear as normal as possible but used by the Illuminati to send out subliminal messages to the unsuspecting masses that the occult that they secretly practice should be as wholesome as American apple pie.

Here's something I found weird in the episodes after 1992 they scrapped this theme and thers and replaced it with Season 1's Theme

I watched this when I was young. Mum loved it, so I got into it as a young child. This and I dream of jeannie and that one with that man up in space and his mum lived alone...? (not startrek or anything like that)

Yesthis was THE "Bewitched" theme song (although I did prefer the Season 5 Kodak "twitch"). It would've been SO easy for Sony to truncate the end of this opening theme & paste on the last portion of the Season 3 end theme (which is basically what the Dick Sargent opening theme did). This music, along with the animation, was so integral to the entire Bewitched viewing experience. Too bad Liz & Bill Asher didn't own the show till Season 8I'll bet they'd've made sure that music was left intact!

When WLVI Boston ran the syndicated prints in the late 1980s they used this version (without the sound effect chimes) and just cut off the track at the end where it would usually go to the sponsorship mention. Sometimes the edit was REALLY bad. I'm happy you put this together! Sony should get it's act together.

Yes...that was the same when it was aired on WWOR EMI Service back in the early 90s...w/o the chimes and the twitch sound effect that is normally heard in the show. (That was actually the version that was used in season 5 originally)

In fairness to WLVI, they were just using what the syndicator (The Program Exchange) gave them. Same reason they didn't show the B&W episodes - Program Exchange wouldn't distribute them. After a few years, they cleaned up the prints, put the theme song back where it belonged (after the first scene, rather than before), and starting using the season 1 theme song on seasons 3-5.

Yes, this is my favorite version too. The closing theme had the same instruments yet somehow always sounded slightly melancholy due to tweaking the arrangement slightly. It always made me sad that the show was over too.

Apparently, with the conversion of the series to color in the fall of '66, Liz and Bill Asher wanted something "special" to spark the show's titles and credits...so they got Bill Holden to play his chimes with Warren Barker's ensemble when they recorded the third edition of the opening and closing themes. Of course, the closing theme heard at the end was FANTASTIC{!!}...and the enthusiasm behind it was never dupilcated again.

The soundtrack was exactly the way the third season title sounded, but Screen Gems didn't bother to syndicate that title {using season one's opening theme instead}- orignially, there was a sponsor I.D. {logo} before the title; either "Chevrolet presents", or on alternate Thurdays, Gary Owens would announce, "The Quaker Oats Company presents...".

Exactly. This is my suggestion for how they should have edited the 3rd season theme for syndication since they would have wanted to remove the sponsor plugs. But, they were too lazy to do so.

The chimes and bells heard on this arrangement of the the Bewitched theme were owned and played by actor William Holden, who was a close friend of both Elizabeth and her father, Robert Montgomery.

P.S. Does anyone out there have a copy of an episode of the rare "Robert Montgomery Presents" to post? Great anthology!

No way. Serious? I love William Holden. "The Dark Past" with Lee J. Cobb is one of my favorite movies. Thankyou for sharing this bit of trivia. I have always loved this arrangement. So much happens--like the chimes and bells. I is a perfect theme song.

Bewitched was a well written and acted fantasy series. Liz Montgomery really didn't want to do Bewitched for so long. Nonetheless, it made her a welathy woman and entertained audiences all over the world. No series of its kind has mastered its wit.
