  • Hey Peggy just a quick question for you:

When you say Good Morning, can i also say Nizao? or is this used in different parts of China?

    Thanks :)

  • I met some Taiwanese people who spoke some kind of Taiwanese language different from Chinese?

    Do you speak it?

Could you do some lessons on that language too?

  • I started learning chinese from my girlfriend in college. when she left for taiwan she wanted me to keep studying but she said don't learn from "Doris" because she has an accent lol I think it is funny to hear chinese people speak english with a British or Irish accent. very strange.

  • Thanks so much for your lessons, I have to become familiar with Chinese language for an audition! love your videos

  • @GlambertGirl2010 xiexie ni~ :)

  • the tones sound strange when i say them. when i say them it sounds like im saying those greetings like a question. is it because im just used to english?

  • Something funny I've noticed in English: "Good Morning", "Good afternoon", and "Good Day" are used upon meeting, like "Hello"; "Good Day" and "Good Night" are said upon parting, like "Bye". It makes no sense, but that's the way we use them, at least in the USA.

  • You should consider a handheld microphone, clip-on microphone, or headset so the audio is more clear (since it is a language lesson, after all).

My wife is Taiwanese, so I want to learn Mandarin with a Taiwanese accent.

    Keep posting!

  • @Ryan256 Cool. Where in Taiwan is she from? I am from Jhongli, Taoyuan. :)

  • Very good. We have some chinese of Taiwan ,they are owners of chinese restaurants in Blumenau, a german town in Brazil long time ago...

  • i thought good morning means Zao shang hao :/

  • @DrMMHMD

    Oh :/

  • @DrMMHMD

Well , you're right but i'm not American anyway

I hat Chinese because they like to be different from other people , they eat roaches , scorpions and more shit things

And i watched a video they skin animals ALIVE for their fur !

BTW your name is Mohammed ? nice name ;)

  • I love how all your letters look like lil houses :3

  • Do u know that AN in vietnamese meaning well....and pieceful ?

  • @se2cond Really? I am not sure, I don't speak Vietnamese.

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese lol i know hahha in vietnam

AN is the same which ur f language.

  • @se2cond

realy ? In Phillipines it is also peaceful there, with good views in Batangas.

  • Peggy你真是太棒了!!!不過我有一個小小的疑問...我是不是在學校MCU看過你...

  • @vickychn13 哈哈哈 我是MCU的學生呀~~ 太巧了 在哪啊?

  • I hate Chinese people :P

show me some thing that make me love them :)

  • @AlligatorJaws How could you hate them D': they awesome

  • Thank you for actually telling us what "Dà jià hǎo" means! I'd heard it used before, but no one explained what it meant. So thank you! Your videos are very helpful :)

  • So these three greetings are all 3rd tone/1st tone?

  • @CatGameDaiyE That's correct! :)

  • Can you say Ni Men Hao instead of Da Jia Hao?

  • @c22dividedby7 Sure. Ni men = plural 'you'; da jia = everybody :)

  • Hi Peggy. Your videos are great! If a person works in an office and they say goodbye to their co-workers, is it appropriate to say "Wan An"?

  • Nope. 'wan an' is usually used before going to sleep or late a night. :)

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese I believe Pastelrose1 was asking if 'Wan An' is appropriate in the same way English speakers say 'Goodnight' to their coworkers before going home at the end of a late workday.

  • @CatGameDaiyE Yes. That'd be acceptable. Thank you for pointing it out. :)

  • I've been using wan3 shang4 hao3 (晚上好) for good evening/night...is that ok?

    Love the videos! 謝謝! :)

  • 晚上好 is used in Mainland China. :)

    Thank you for watching!

  • can you use

    zao hao?

  • I don't think so.

I heard people in China use "zao shang hao" and here in Taiwan, we say "zao an". :)

  • Thanks Peggy! I'm new and I just subscribed. I'm glad you're making these videos

  • Bu ke qi. :)

    Thank you for your subscription!

  • Xie Xie , Peggy.

  • bu ke qi. :)

  • Peggy, Whats better / or more commonly used, Zao3 an1 or Zao3 chen2 hao3 - does this not literally mean goodmorning? Xie xie

  • zao3an1 is what we use here in Taiwan, and zao3shang4hao3 is what people say in China.

I wonder if anyone uses "zao3an1" in China though, I don't think so.

  • So if I ran into someone in the evening, how would I greet them? Would I say "Wu an" or "Wan an"?

Also, "an" is the 1st tone right? Or 5th? I find it hard to tell sometimes :(

But I'm really loving your videos! The way you go into depth explaining things really helps me. Thanks!

  • I looked it up and it says "wan3 an1" but never heard of anyone saying it in the evening though. :P

Usually when "wan3 an1" is spoken is when one is going to sleep or when it's late enough for bedtime.

And yes, "an1" is the first tone. :)

Thank you for watching! I'm glad it helps! Xie4 Xie4!
