Full of spectacular stunts and stunning special effects, signifying nothing. It's like JMJ is over-compensating for the lack of passion in his gimmicky bland music. He always lived under the shadow of Maurice, his father, who wrote some of the most powerfully emotional music in movie history, Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago to name two. IMHO! :)
@astrophonix Try listening to Jarre's studio and live albums without any video. It will still have an emotional impact. Also since this video was made back in 1995 he is still doing amazing concerts that attract millions for each one. Quality not quantity. Possibly inspired by his fathers work, who knows for sure. Either way he left a lasting legacy in music and art.
@ShynAwkwa an evening with Scully (Anderson even) would create a lot more light for me and the carbon defecit would be negligible seeing as how the Finale would probably precede the Intro...sorry about that..just give me a few minutes...dear me, I need shooting!
ROFL @ 'concert 4 tolerance' = concert against the family & 4 the annihilation of the white race =)) Damn the French R such suiciders. Did he have hairy guys in pink ballerina dresses shoving laser dildos up each other's butts 4 the encore??
I'm a big fan of Jarre's music but one of the statements in this program is incorrect. Jarre did not create the lazer harp. The lazer harp was created by Bernard Szajner. Jarre hired or bought it from Szajner.
typical BBC crap, where was Lyon, Docklands, Paris La Defense (at that time his biggest ever audience attendance), they jumped from Houston to Concert Pour Tolerance and missed those gigs. And the "light organ" ?! LOL... I cringe when I hear / see / read anything badly researched about JMJ. Anyway, enough of that. JEAN MICHEL JARRE LIVE IN MONACO 1st July 2011. Google it, you'll get the webstreams. Also on Euronews, Sky channel 508.
@oxygene65 just remember while i do agree with you that this tv show skipped a lot they only had a short amount of time to highlight the sucesses of this brilliant guy . you would need as lot more time to talk about all jean michel jarre has done then this tv show was given. by the way please excuse my bad typing . i am dyslexic . there is no spell checker on you tube comments !
I'm sorry to say be he never made it, it was (and please correct me if i wrote it wrong) Bernard Szajner. He had the idea and was contacted by Jarre's men in order for him to get it...
ncluding a MIDI version invented by Philippe Guerre, and a recent one created by Yan Terrien. They have also been used in public art installations such as those created by Jen Lewin on display at Lincoln Center in 2000 and Burning Man 2005.

Oxygene! Awesome sounds. Not too sure about the laser harp or light organ tho.. bit pointless. Still, he's a great pioneer of electronic music.

Enjoyed the clip, but not a lot of "how do they do it" in it!! More like "why do they do it"...

My friends still ask me who he is....lol. I get tired of explaining the greatest musical influence of my lifetime.

@rojman123 usually referring to the sounds of Oxygene 4 does the trick by whistling, for many of my friends anyway :-)

@navyboydjray No, it really is English TV. The male presenter is Irish. And rather thinner than he is now...
