260KPH you have the facts wrong... those engines when "cold" will not even turn over, the tolerances are so close that when cold the engine seizes... to be amble to turn them over warm oil, I repeat for those who are stupid. WARM OIL is pumped through the entire engine, bringing it up to near operating temperature...

Abrasion should be much higher on the track when the weight of the complete car including fuel and driver work against the engine for a very long time.

These motors are built to work permanently under heavy force. So when rpm changes within a short time, exposure is high - within this short moment. But when rpm is constant, exposure drops to nearly zero, relative to the maximum stability. In a race, exposure is nearly permanently at maximum or at least high.
