  • Im 11 yrs old. I think this is really helpful. But the sound is too soft.

  • Lol, 2:18.. xD

  • You know, this makes it look so much more difficult than actually learning it on sheet or with a tutor. I hate "How to play" videos that just use synthesia instead of actually explaining, or taking it part by part. Piano isn't a video game -.-

  • @cyonin this piece requires pedals, which use at 1:15 (maybe I think)

  • Is this actually possible to play? Seems fine for me up until 1:15, then my fingers just dont reach far enough for that many keys...

  • @Cyonin yes, you got to use pedals to keep the graves without your fingers.

  • @Shineismusic Im using an electric keyboard, so no pedals unfortunately >< Think the best I can manage is adding a lot of reverb into the notes. Thanks for the reply

  • This is a cr*p way of learning this piece - you might as well go and play Tetris. and BTW yes, I am synasthetic too so perhaps this is why I find this so annoying (wrong colours ;))

  • learned...

  • Almost made me cry.... :) very good work

  • Yea there's like 2 notes that r dif from the sheet music but this one sounds better

  • This is like a guitar hero

  • I could imagine he even wanted it to be played so slowly - it sounds so dreamy and niiice....

  • what site did you get this from..?

  • some of the notes here are wrong. :s

  • I'm only twelve and I like theese kind of songs. I'm not weird.. Right?

  • @MissNesraa no :)

  • why am i the weird kid in school for liking this instead of rap?

  • @kakajack8989 I fuckin know! What the hell? I hate rap. This is art, you cant call those pos's artists at all

  • @PravdaRooski this is beautiful but just because a song has words doesnt mean its bad. some are very beautiful. maybe think about it as poetry or or story in a melody.

  • @kakajack8989 you aint weird mate, some people have an open mind across many genres of music, if you can appreciate a piece of music written in 1765 right the way through to music written in 2012 then you are ahead of the game for your age. Claire de Lune is the music also for many cool films including Oceans 11, keep your mind open and your love for the classics in your heart..........some people just never "get it" thats their loss!! keep happy

  • @kakajack8989 dont worry you listen music for real and you enjoy it. they listen what other listen to.

  • Depussy = The pussy ;) ( no offence)

  • Im actually learning the piece from this vid ... Tis easier than sheet music

  • @Ottavio139 I play the trombone! Is this on the internet somewhere or something?

  • WTF! my hands are to small! son of a b*tch, whata hell!.... sorry

  • i suck at piano hero

  • @ 1:14 that's when i screwed c i'm playing on my keyboard AND i'm a beginner.

i'm learning to play this for my dad.I LOVE YOU!!!!!!<3

  • thank you thank you

  • plis returns to put your video of november rain publicly to be able to learn to touch since it is the better thing that encontre in the whole network

  • This is way easier on trombone. Well, probably due to the fact that I only have to play one note at a time, but still...

  • Slower? I cannot even keep up. Maybe cuz I'm a beginner

  • Hahaha yes! I got the first part down! Im so new to the Piano but this makes me so happy that I finally got the first part down!:)))

  • Una palabra,,,,,,,Gracias!

  • Muchas gracias! Gracias a este video he aprendido a tocar esta canción tan bonita!^^

  • trop belle musique mais il faut avoir de longs doights pour le faire ça prend du temps comme tout dans la vie

  • This reminds me of something like Peter pan... Idk.

  • iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttsssssssss sssssssoooooooo sssssssslllllllllloooooooowwwwww

  • c'est assez facile ca va moi je doi fai les 2 derniere page

  • o.o it's like guitar hero but in piano version :3

  • @vivc689 its awesome :)

  • :( i dont have enough fingers for this song...

  • @MrsPimienton If you have passion and patience you'll have enough..

  • @MrsPimienton using both hands??

  • i know alot of the notes/chords in this piece use a sustain pedal to achieve the sound, but how can you do the bass hand chord at 2:08? its literally impossible unless you have huuuge hands that can reach 1 and a 1/2 octaves simultaneously!

  • @delucey you use both hands to play the three notes lower down while using the sustain pedal, then quickly move both hands up to the higher portion.

  • Getting a little fed up with coming onto Synthesia tutorials and the top comment is always how it's a) fucking impossible, b) how the user is NOT and octopus, and c) Chuck Norris can play it with one finger. Ever considered it is on here for fun, and who gives a shit if it is not possible to play solo? Get a fucking life.

  • @piperrox13 I think the whole reason people complain about it is because they came to the video to actually learn the peice and not enjoy the song.

As for the chuck norris comments...well. We can only pray they soon dissipear ;)

  • @Taylorluva96 What? You learned it?... Now I'm a bit envy, sorry...

  • I SHALL LEARN THIS SONG !!!! >:D

  • way too slow, but otherwise, nice :)

  • I think it sounds better slow

  • so i have a keyboard, is it possible to play the song on a simple keayboard ? i think it's too short , but idk

  • At the beginning I was like "Oh I can play this!" then I saw something that required like 20 fingers XD and 4 hands O.O

  • do they play this in 2 people?

cuz last time I checked my left hand had only 5 fingers

    ( 2:11 )

  • @SuccessfulWolfik haha. i had to look reeeaaaallllyyy closely to notice that... i got my sister naggin' me...

  • Much too sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow...

  • @Jarnobh Uhh... that's the point its at 50% speed so beginners can figure it out

  • @Taylorluva96 Yeah, but beginners create a bad idea about the speed of this beautiful piece.

  • @Jarnobh I'm guessing english isn't your first language so fair play, that's obviously totally fine, but you've made no sense whatsoever, nor have you grasped the concept of the video. obviously, if this were to be played as is at royal albert hall, there would be utter confusion and apparent distaste. it's for those who cannot sightread to get an idea of the notes and pacing (relatively) to be played. go troll elsewhere if you know all of that!

  • @thentherewas You're right, English isn't my first language, I don't know how you see this, because I think sometimes there are a few little mistakes, but you've never seen (present perfect) my last report. I had an 8,3 for English, so I'm quite good in English. But this has nothing to do with what I've said about the video. Yes, I understand that beginners can figure out how to play this song, but the original sheet is very different from the one in Synthesia. And I'm not going away.

  • @Jarnobh Thats true but it made it easier for me, once i learned the correct keys, to speed it up

  • @Taylorluva96

Yeah, that' s right. But Synthesia doesn't always give the right sheets. The original sheet music of this song is much different from the one in this program.

  • @Jarnobh Well thats a different problem entirely from it just being too slow. I don't know the exact sheet music for it but since im not playing in a concert, I'm just doing it because I love hearing this song, does it really matter?

  • @Taylorluva96

Yeah, that's another problem of Synthesia, you're right. But my whole point, together with te low speed, is that you better learn piano songs by yourself. Of course, it doesn't that matter. It's just that in my opinion you better can learn a song by the original sheet music, because it's easier to learn the original song later.

  • anyone else think this is very quiet? Make the audio louder!!!

  • one of my dreams is to play this song on a white grand piano to the love of my life.

  • you can find piano sheet music @ sheetsearch . com

  • This piece is so much less intimidating when slowed down, im awful with sheet music but this tutorial is great and i learn it slowly and get the muscle memory right then speed it up and i cant believe I've already learnt a 3rd of a piece I've always wanted to play. thanks so much! :D

  • how is that even possible i mean just look at 1:54 O_O

  • @animexlove64 look at the few seconds preceding that. You'll see that the notes at the lower register are sustained from having been played earlier. Then you move your left hand up to the middle range at 1:54. The notes that still show on the lower register are not currently being played; they're sustained using the pedal.

  • @animexlove64 easy, just super glue on another two set of hands! lol... :| its just depressing, i envy those who can successfully play this!

  • what program are you using?

  • @MsGTA4ever

    shut up ya gimp.

  • What's the programme called?

  • @vDuoHD synthesia

  • Comment removed

  • This piece just takes lots of practice. People learning this through YouTube should just take the time to learn to read sheet music. You will be better off.

  • the song would not be easy even if you were an octopus... its really difficult to read... at least to me.

  • i need to grow likeeeeeee three more fingers

  • Really really easy to play... if you are an octopus that is! jeeze!

  • maybe you have six fingers at your left hand, but i don't! XD

  • @paramaramore It's confusing. It just means you need to use the damper pedal.

  • Space invaders!!

  • WHAT THE BUCK!!! how many fingers do you need?!

  • @HarvieKevin You just need to use the damper pedal. Watch. The times when there are a lot of notes, the ones played first are just being sustained.

  • how do i download different songs onto this program so i can learn them?

  • check the song by Jasper Forks , it's good too

  • man on fire?

  • when i learn any kind of music, i put my hands where they comortably go. Not by what its telling me to put them. Also creating your own tempo gives it more meaning and feeling to the sound you give it.

  • your extra hands are the pedals lol

  • @849208 true true

  • @849208 i know right, people just dont get it

  • Just came across cool piano learning device in Gizmag

    Google “gizmag pianomaestro”

  • Kinda The Beat Of The LOZ OOT Title Theme!!1

  • @patheater

    I agree with you.

  • This is a terrible Left-hand / Right-hand arrangement. The right had has got to help out more, there's no need for the left hand to be doing so much work.

  • This is humanly impossible! LOL

  • how did you record this ?? o__o lol..

  • 25% SPEED PLEASE?

  • @Splatfaceboi I know, is still somewhat fast

  • To all the people thinking they need HUGE hands, when you think this, the left hand has pressed the notes furthest to the left and sustain is keeping them on while the left hand sees to other notes

  • how is 1:13 left hand possible

  • @boy29girl its 5 notes just need good sized hands :P

  • @defenderofthebrave im a girl with small hands, i dont think i can handle that. lolol

  • @boy29girl you hit the bottom two notes first, then the higher three

  • @boy29girl My mum plays it. Her hands aren't that large. Because it's slow, you have to play the low notes and then jump up. You don't actually play it at the same time. Just play the bass and then jump to the other notes.

    I'm struggling too!

  • A BEAUTY <3

  • cool!

  • wow the person who made clair de lune the sone must have hands bigger than 3 rows and colums of hands this is a tough sonh

  • Does anyone have the sheet music of this?

  • @aussietramp89 Yes, go to the Petrucci Music Library (you can search for IMSLP and it'll be the same thing) and type in Clair de Lune in the search box. :) IMSLP is a great resource for classical sheet music.

  • your videos are amazing!!!

  • this is great, however, around 3:15 it just gets to hard lol.

  • did claude debussy have long fingers/big hands? because some of these 5 note chords take A LOT of reach to be able to play, much less roll quickly and smoothly.

  • @shinesinpines I'm thinking that right now. I have midget hands, can barely reach a 9th on my left hand and only octave on right.

  • Sheesh, hope no one lets RobinScott93 discourage them from learning this. I learned freakin' Fantasie Impromptu this way. This technique DOES work. I took piano for years when I was a kid but couldn't grasp sight reading because my ear got in the way. Synthesia has been wonderful and got me interested in playing again after decades of not doing so. And for those who criticize that one doesn't learn the dynamics this way, well, it's YouTube, we can watch vids of the pros and learn from them.

  • The game is called "Synthesia" <----Google. Think Piano Hero and you will have a idea o what this game is about.

  • too slow

  • @aeroscope That's because it's listed as 50% speed...

  • different ppl can learn in different ways and i usually learn by ear so this is really useful to me :) i've already learnt the beginning from this vid...i'm starting to learn how to read music aswell in my piano lessons though lol but this is really useful imo.

  • O_O Is it just me or does this span six octaves at some point?

  • @TheBrambleMask the same question? :(

  • @TheBrambleMask Why yes it does!

  • @TheBrambleMask - Yeah. Can anyone actually play that with 2 hands.... or are we supposed to use our elbows or something?!?! I ACTUALLY even thought about trying that last night too. LOL

  • @zookate76 @TheBrambleMask I've played it and what you do is hit the lowest (bass) note with left hand and jump to the chord above while holding down the right (damper) pedal. The pedal will do the work of sustaining the low note, leaving your left hand free to play those lovely repeated chords. :)

  • @SilveredBlue Ohh now i want the piano insted of the keybored because obiouslly I cant do that with a keyborde lol

  • @SilveredBlue - Thank you for the help but I was just making a joke because it looks so funny when the notes show up like that on Synthesia. I'm familiar enough with this piece, and can also play by ear, so I would've figured out they were sustained notes... but I DO appreciate the help... just in case I didn't know. :-)

  • @TheBrambleMask Damper pedal, baby.

  • @TheBrambleMask It's supposed to be sustained with pedal, and not actually played. That's what I'm guessing, at least.

  • @TheBrambleMask foot pedal, noob

  • @TheBrambleMask

    its just you

  • who the hell is robinsonScott93??? seems to be satan..

  • Can someone please tell me what this game is called???

  • @MusicalTam24 Game?

  • @MusicalTam24 its called synthesia and its not really considered as a game (like guitar hero)

It's used to help composers write music, although some use it to learn piano.

  • @tombokickass lol the website has game right on the url. go figure...

  • @MusicalTam24 i can tell u what the program is!

  • Esto es una estupidez... quien puede tocar esto es porque sabe leer partitura!! Nadie que tenga cierto nivel (y ni siquiera muy alto) no sabe leer música y necesitaría de esta ayuda pedorra...

  • Who cares how people learn it? Its not having any negative effects on you, I'm learning this way because it's easier and so I can play it to people who enjoy music...

  • *yawn*

  • omgsh I love you soo much! This was so helpful!

  • this is SO helpful! Thanks!

  • did you have the midi file?

  • Wow, I think some people should actually realise that not EVERYONE looking up this video wants to be a fucking concert pianist. Put your technophobia behind you and accept the fact that the new way to learn the NOTES is online.

Sure, we might not know the technicalities, but isn't that what piano lessons are for? And if we wanted to know the technicalities, we'd book piano lessons.

This was mainly directed at you RobinScott93.

  • I couldn't play the piano. But I wanted it very badly. So I bought a keyboard and I learned this song with synthesia (I know now till 1.13) and I'm so happy. It's a beautiful song and I will practice to play all of it. But this programme really works. You don't learn to play piano but you'll learn difficult songs and how they are made.

  • @justaGirl216 its much easier to learn a piece with pianosheets. its not hard at all to learn how read it and if u are not sure about some parts u still can watch this video but at least try it.

  • how do you get this program?

  • This is interesting-- I'm not a pianist and I never realized before seeing this video how much this piece is played on the black keys.

  • This song's beautiful *u*.. I think it's a joyful way to incentivate people to play piano... ;)

    Great video, congratulations!

  • I have wanted to play for about 52 of my 55 years. I've certainly tried, have owned several pianos, all eventually relegated to the barn. My neighbor sold me her family Shomer baby grand in flame mahogany for $200. Inspiration. I sat down - in the music room - with this video and after about 30 minutes, I can play about 30 seconds of this beautiful piece. It is one of my favorite and actually in my will to be played as I say goodbye to everyone! Thank you! Thank you!

  • marvelous!

  • Piano Hero 3, Debussy edition

  • lol. this cant be taught in 8:35.

  • Thankkk you...!!! Thank you soo much for uploading this..!! :)

  • Everyone (well certainly not everyone) is being ridiculous! This video is wonderful because it helps teach and spread the beauty and perfection that is claire de lune. Can't we all agree on that?

  • i honestly dont know how anyone can learn from this.

  • @RobinScott93 What makes you think that people looking at this video has any desire to become a great pianist? How about just some fun? Stop discouraging people from having fun with this video. People that run regularly for exercise aren't necessarily practicing for the olympics. Likewise here. Stop looking down on people saying they should not be playing this because it is beyond their league.

  • @timc6896 I'm not trying to turn anyone into a concert pianist. I just want people to realise that if they want to have fun playing a complex piece like this, they shouldn't put themselves through the pain of learning it through a note chart video.

  • it's an amazing program i managed to play it all ....

  • hay quá tui mê bài ni nhiều lắm

  • @harmonika208 i totally understand that

  • The great thing about learning a piece like this is being able to "interpret" it. So... once you learn to play it, via sheet music or demonstration or by ear, it's your job to interpret it. I suppose it's up to you how to learn it - but if you plan on learning to play songs as more than a hobby or passion and also as a skill needed for any manner of reasons including school, university, or jobs - then you will need to read sheet music.

I learn just as much by ear as by reading sheet music. :)

  • lack of tonal sensitivity? imagine if you are playing a harp or flowing like a little stream

  • I dont see how anyone can learn from this shit

  • please go a bit faster!

  • This song would be virtually impossibe to play unless you had hands that could stretch like two feet! Seriously, in some parts it stretches more than two octaves. Very beautiful, though. And what type of video game is this? It would be awesome!

  • This song would be virtually impossibe to play unless you had hands that could stretch like two feet! Seriously, in some parts it stretches more than two octaves. Very beautiful, though.

  • what program is this. It looks like frets on fire ... somewhat.

  • Comment removed

  • Ha, this type of turtorial is amazing!!!

  • oooh i know how to play this :D

  • @robinscott93 I am being serious, I dont want to be playing at the proms or infront of a million people showing them how fabulous I am at playing the piano, I just want to have a little tinkle on my piano now and then. With all due respect you arent going to be hearing the people playing this anyway so it really wont hurt them to do it this way.

  • @BecL0vesIt I understand that. I'm not trying to turn you into a concert pianist. I'm just trying to say that no one should put themselves through the pain of learning this piece this way. If you wan to "have a little tinkle" on your piano, you would enjoy it a lot more if you learnt how to read music and then learnt pieces like this a lot faster.
