Bob Dylan is the one that's laughing. Either he's doing this ad because he knew it would piss people off...or maybe he's just someone who happens to really like Cadillacs and had the opportunity to get paid doing an ad for them and went for it. If I liked Cadillacs and I was asked to do a paid advertisement for them...you bet I would. lol. Either way, who the hell cares. His Cadillac ad does not change his music.
Ok, here's the deal. I do not know how Cadillac allow this advertisement to ever, ever see the light of day, and I surely do not know how Bob Dylan managed to pull off getting paid for it with Cadillac Dollars--change the script a bit or just turn off the sound and this is maybe the best anti-SUV film ever made: the utter desolation, the passing of a huge gasoline-delivering truck, the images of poverty--all of with the most blatant image of excess possible--a gas hogging Cadillac. Seriously!
the song in the backround is sad, it's about submitting, not fighting against irritation and loseing your "wildness", this might read too much into something stupid but its reassuring think he has a message, it cant be a conincidence that hes doing a caddy commercial considering his WW3 song. also look at the stark contrast of the black car and the rural setting, obviously unappealing, same man who plays "north country blues" does this. makes you think, and cry. Man of mystery. nothing is sacred
Besides, Dylan tours constantly for abot 45 dollars a ticket. perhaps you should look at what Neil Young is asking for ticket prices nowadays. You could just as well say that Young is a thief in that aspect. But of course, that's not 'selling out'...please. They play music and make millions...that in itself is deluded.
ther quickly. It doesn't mean you're a bad person. I may be wrong but I think he did this to make clear he doesn't buy into the whole global warming thing...All of a sudden people who drive big cars are demon spawn...A little hypocritical if you ask me.
Oh really? What do you do for a living? Work for Nike or something? Everyone's a sellout to a certain degree... The fact that you think he is a sellout just prove how naive people were in the sixties. Money will change everyone's ideals ra
polluting is cool now. Go tell your friends, print it on your T-shirts, let us erase all of the evidence that challenges this new idea, any objecting individuals must be hung and we must all attend the hanging. Let's get this party started!
Bob comes to meet the devil? All I saw was a large black Cadillac, the polluted, polluting, and Bob Dylan. I don't know what Bob Dylan stands for, but he is currently marketing himself as a "cool guy" and Cadillac is trying to market themselves as the "cool car" (naturally). Therefore....
Well I guess good ol' Bob doesn't give a shit about the environment. Nice gluttonous SUV you got there Bob. How ironic is it that the only car he passes is an oil tanker.
It has to be more than irony.. the unconscious of this ad is in tune with everything Bob does. Its the uncanny. Bob by his presence alone turns this into some existential statement. It's Bob at the cross roads .. again. He's come to meet the devil. And what a devil! Why is Bob always plagued with these larger-than-life propositions?
What's the name of the song in this ad?

First... stop being such whiny bitches about pollution. It's a car commercial. They are advertising their car.
Second... nothing is happening here other than Bob Dylan selling out because he's old and doesn't care anymore.

@thetimmons He used to care, but things have changed...
