I don't care how good he is, Charlie has balls for waving to the woman passing by in the start of this one. I also can sympathize with Ewan a bit, one of my best mates the guy I most often go off adventuring with (nothing like this) grew up on dirt bikes and was allowed a street bike a few years before me, and he's just so much more sure of himself in situations where I'm much less, I end up having the same downers that Ewan has at around the same times for many the same reasons.

The 1200GS are actually 30Kg lighter than the 1150GS. Can't remember the weight difference for the Adventure models. Also the 1200GS (being the first BMW R series) no longer has a sub frame like the 1150GS so the bikes now (in theory) should be able to take a little more punishment in terms of luggage loading.

A big thing about Long Way Round was the huge BMW bikes. They've hardly talked about the BMW R1200GS's at all. Were they lighter?

The Long Way Round bikes were GS1150's... so the new bikes are 50cc bigger, and I imagine, in very BMW touring fashion, any weight savings were probably lost due to more accessories. Still amazing bikes

I think Ewan is such a good guy,partly,because he is from small place from Scotland were people are not so spoiled like in big cities.His parents live there and he spend lot of free time there,so always surrounded with normal people and never forgets where he comes from.

@SMSBJM1981 That's a techie's job. I don't disagree with you really, I think they are all heros for doing these trips, for showing us places its not likely we'd see otherwise. The techie is being paid to support the actors, he signed on to do exactly what he's doing. I've seen a lot of comments critisizing (not yours) Ewan and Charlie for how they treat Claudio, but they forget that he is getting paid to do Exactly what he's doing - and if he had a problem with it, he wouldn't have come back.

I bet with all those miles offroad on a big heavy 1200 with all there gear in the panniers too, these guys would be fucking good at offroading on a smaller bike, like a KTM 450 or something. They'd find it easy as anything.
