Wow, This was posted a year ago ! Jesus time flys ! I also just notised my comment from a year agop, I had just got a mac then : )
The music sill sounds as good as when you first posted it. Also you might be interested to know that my school has one of the synthesizers used on blue monday!
That's slightly true. Most highend graphical systems like Maya are GUI based, but can run through the Command line. Also people use Maya's developer kit to create their own Maya Based software. One example is Final Fantasy Advent Children. Maya mainly runs on it's own scripting language called Mel. Mel is used for everything in Maya.
wow, that was just amazing. Considering the date it was shown, the animation, physics and so on were really impressive. Texturing has come a fair way, but the quality of the animation is way up there. It was a little slow, but I really enjoyed it. Thanks for another little gem!
Hey DT - I have a few more coming from the archives. And I really loved the audio track on this -- I think it was a Korg M-1 synthesizer, as my ears are telling me. Good that Apple was using that purple Cray Supercomputer for something cool! - Alfred
I feel the same way - something about that audio track - it sounds like a Korg M-1 synthesizer -- I've watched this so many time. I just love the way it flows. Thanks for watching! Alfred
Hey! Cheesy low-res videos fueled the Multimedia Revolution following the rise in popularity of the CD-ROM by the early 1990s. But were it not for those cheesy videos in things like Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia on CD-ROM, etc., YouTube might not have existed. =) Cool video. =)
Man this apple stuff is soo freakin' cool. I had apple on my mind this afternoon when I tried to start Adobe Premiere and got a missing DLL error after adding a plugin from Pinnacle. Must be nice to really get to spend time video editing on a Mac
I think those guys who rendered the snake and stuff for QT 1 were on something... The video makes me think of some guy doing some drug and seeing some weird crap lol. It's nice to see history though.
very cool, lol i love my cray super computer i can do so much with it lol i love this they spent a shit load of money on a "cray super computer" which is HUGE and my mac book now a days has more power then the super computer, i love techology :) thanks Al
Tyler! Hahah, yes, BUT -- do you research for Seymour Cray in Wikipedia. This guy was brilliant, and cool as hell. Cool, because he would supercool the circuits in his supercomputers so they could run at high speeds. He was also big into parallel processing. What a loss - he died from an auto accident. TTYL, T! Thanks for watching!
yeah i looked up the Cray a while back, id love to bring one home in my truck just to tell my mom its my new computer and its going in the middle of my room... she would kill me :)
Hi Tom - Agreed, US is simple, but I think the real advantage of QuickTime is the CoDecs that are bundled within it, that are called on by other programs. Yes, Pro upgrade -- very $neaky! LOL! On old OSX - kinda, yes -- once I boot up that NeXT Cube, you will see NextStep, which IS the early incarnation of OSX! So, more to come (once I find the damn NeXT combined power/video cable!) - Alfred
A 'short time' or in a 'quick time' -- oh that was a bad joke. Mark, I'm coming up to Orlando this weekend to attend the MegaCon -- a sci-fi, anima, horro filme (nerd) convention. Let me know if you're around - Alfred
I will be around though I am not sure what my plans are... i think i will be free sat. and sunday but the rest of the time i will be working with my group to finish our final project game
Weather update in south Florida by the beach - upper 70's, sunny, and perfect outside. A great time to stay inside and edit YouTube videos to avoid skin cancer and radiation sickness. LOL! :)
I'll admit that i didn't think there was a Quicktime back in 1989, Although I'm not really surprised that there was . (I think i need to look at Apple History a bit more)
Hey J - hmm, from my die-hard Windows friends/fans, they actually enjoy QuickTime for Windows, saying 'it is the best thing that Apple ever did.' What don't you like about QuickTime? I find it to be very good. But hey, no one has to like everything! Thanks for watching! - Alfred
haha, and one more thing about QuickTime for Windows... You must buy s "pro" version to go full screen!! That's ridiculous. But anyway. Have a nice day Alfred!
Frank?! not 007!?

I woulda expected the video to look cruder than that for 1989 standards!

You'd be surprised what people accomplished before 1989 using CGI!

This shit if epic!!!
If only somebody could make a YouTube Poop to parody this with, it would get lotsa hits!

good stuff alfred!
not a fan of QuickTime, find the UI a bit too simple. Plus its a pain in the @ss having to upgrade to pro..
Have ya got any early OS X demo videos to show?
Thanks Agian,
Tom
