  • its agreat song and your vid made me smile - thanks for posting

  • Both sides of the road work equally well....

    From the middle..

    J.C.

  • The more I watch and listen the better I like it. I love Richard's picking style!

  • savagepa1 must be a spelling NAZI! He/she probably teaches to gifted English students.

  • learn to spell,,,motor...not moter

  • @savagepa1 Learn to accept small, legible mistakes as a part of life.

  • @savagepa1 waaaaa, waaaa

  • learn to spell motor................

  • Angryenglishgirl. I think you did a great job on the video. I've never had the opporunity to ride a Vincent. I'm in North America so an Indian Chief is as close as I can come and those days are over now.

  • @astronerd37 Not if you've the cash, for either. But you are more likely to get a Indian owner to give up their Cheif than any Vincent owner.

  • We should all be so lucky as to have a daughter to build such a tribute . . . .

  • Yo - the Black Lightning was the racing model - no lights/generator/mufflers and a very hot engine - i think you mean the Black Shadow. Which was also a Rapide. Check out Rollie Free doing 150 mph on a black lightning at Bonneville salt flats while wearing his bathing trunks. But hey - Mr thompson's song is a beauty, at least its not harley davidson fatboy 1992 . . .

  • everyone a critic. lol top job there you should be proud i hope you dad liked it!

  • If there was ever a video made for this I think Toyah Wilcox would make a splendid Red Molly. ;-)

  • Minus the few anal retentive remarks .The jest an effort deserves a hats off to you.Just ignore the little details and and the snide remarks .

  • How hard is it to get a photo of shotgun. The song says "shotgun blast hit his chest left nothing inside". The photo here is clearly of a rifle.

  • Sorry...it is clearly and definately a single barrel shotgun made by baikel shotguns from russia...hope you know more about motorcycles than you do guns...next you'll be tellin us it's a honda!!ha..ha...

  • @mojochez A Russian shotgun is like a musket, every time it fires you have to thank God it didn't blow up in your face. Real shotguns are made in America. Asshole.

  • @steveo3458 show's what you know kid...I'll take many a english shotgun over an american shotgun, belgian makes also and let's not forget beneili who've made guns longer than anyone. I'll take trust a russin gun as much as any other and I'm 20 years carrying a gun on the job a 45 year carrying when not at work.

  • @GrigoriZhukov My only point is why would a western European police officer or any in the developed western world carry a Russian made shotgun. Police carry combat style shotguns in America in their cars. So I doubt that a English police officer would carry an Russian model Shotgun. I never said I do not trust Russian Gun making but that shotgun in the picture could be mistaken for a turkey gun where I come from. I just do not want a turkey gun reflect a police shotgun.

  • @steveo3458 Turkey gun? Those are all multi shot not single shot and rarely a double barel of either type. Have stevens mod 30 and I've taken everything but deer with it. Is it a rabbit shotgun or a turkey shotgun or maybe an upland game gun?

  • @mojochez LOL I'll trust you on the make of the shot gun...I trust the maker but I have not the chance to know them all.

  • Good song, but I'd think that telling any of my friends that they'd get a rideable Vincent Black Lightning on my demises would be---pushing my luck, you might say. If you know what I mean...

  • lovely video. Thanks for posting.

    British bike rider..

  • Not bad, Thanx

  • Wow that street corner looked like Kenmore Blvd in South side Akron Ohio.

  • My hat's off to the Vincent but the Norton 850 are a truly righteous bikes too... and so is this song.

  • god that motorcycle (and song) is gorgeous!

  • this song is actually so deep...

    real sad

  • Hey AEG - how about seeing some more work from you on utube?! pleesh? Richard Thonpson's songs should give you a WIDE choice of creative vent! he is SO versatile! ...music-wise, at least! :oD

  • AngryEnglishGirl - Hope ur not angry; am sure you've got a heart of gold and a pure soul! This song chokes me up; my brother has a Vin; I pray he doesn't kill himself on it; are worse ways to die; going to see RT play 7 Feb 09 Oxford in UK; a STAR in the guitar hero firmament "And if fate should break my stride..." (death) wow-people just don't write songs like this anymore! God bless RT (+you!) REALLY hope you find a lover who will stop you being AngryEnglishGirl! kiss hug peace love.

  • The Vincent featured is a series C Rapide. Magnificent bike but most definitely not a Black Lightning.

  • sorry about that i willget my dad to find a picture of a black lightning and make another vid soon

    thanks

  • @angryenglishgirl No need. Your video captures the idea of this song. 32 vincents were made in the year of 52. This song is a real story that has been erased, and this song is off limits, so enjoy it whislt you can.

  • @briankofke Really? Gee still here...

  • 52 Vincent is an RT original. My error.

This song makes me weep. Amazing.

  • What the fuck? Did you go and claim this on every single 1952VBL video? You must think fairly highly of yourself to much such a claim, how embarrassing for you..

  • Yeah, he (Del McC.) wishes! Ha! RT rocks all the way - with original lyrics, music writing and style! Del McC wouldn't know a Vin from a bin and his singing has no balls or feeling (unless you feel that a nasal whining is 'music'). I'm sure Del C is a nice guy, but he can NOT get even close to writing original lyrics like this from Richard Thompson!

  • Jerry, I am all for being proud of America and it's great song writers, but this one is Richard Thompson all the way. Del recorded it with RT's permission.

  • Nice. It really should be an English corner though.

  • im being a bit stupid what does?

  • er.. what does what?

My comment above is in refernece to the 'have seen you on the corners' line. The photo is of a North American corner. I felt it should be an English corner is all.

  • i thought it was a tecnical term (being stupid again) like about the guitar or bike or summat... is it an american corner i didnt notice it just seemed apropriate looking

  • I'm not 100% sure.. but as the line is "Corners and cafes" I think it refers to "Lyons Corner Houses" - slightly more up market that the famous Ace Cafe - the bikers hangout in North London.

    Nice vid tho :)

  • Nope - AngryEnglishGirl is right - it's NOT the very errudite and posh Lyons Tea Houses typically on corners) but any English highway/byway corner (preferably high speed) corner!)

  • should be an English corner, after all the song mentions Box Hill which is in Surrey. You still see the place full of bikers every Sunday.

  • Know it well. I find more bikes and nutters in Subarus in Hampshire and Surrey than anywhere on the planet. Perfect roads.

  • Then you haven't been riding in Montana northeren Idaho etc...BTDT rubbed the pegs bloody.

  • You are right Sir. I have not. The day I find an American area more winding than than the UK will be a surprising one.. Ancient roads and no space!

  • I have some roads to show you. Narrow California canyon roads, laid over the meanderings of an inebriated cow.

Come along then....... we can take turns on tours, here and back there. And enjoy a pint afterwards during point to point comparisons.

Win, lose, or draw in competition, at the end, we will be the richer for it.

  • I very kind offer indeed.

Canyon roads sound like the real deal. Have a feeling they will still be big. You yanks just can't help it!

Give me an example on Google Maps. Would be great to recce. If you google map 'box hill' you will see where he is singing about.

If you google map anywhere in the UK countryside you will see the roads I am referring to.

    All the best.

  • What I would not give to ship my Norton to the UK and motor around a bit!

  • For real? Which Norton?

  • 1974 Norton 850. bought it in 1975 here in California. Someday, I'll ride from Plymouth to Aberdeen. And slide through Grimsby where my family comes from (in the 1850's anyway...)

  • I would do it before you have to strap on a GPS and get tracked per mile.

  • Yep! I'm one of those Bikers, a good blast up the A24 then a nice cup of tea at Rykers cafe, bliss.

  • Hey, I just gave yr work 5 Stars, straight from the heart :-) BTW: Me and my daughter love this song too... We usually find ourselves on the brink of having a really good cry while listening... Kudos for your congenial and so sensitvely emphatic work :-)

  • nice work,...angry english girl; it brings a smile to my face that someone appreciates this great song so much to create this compilation

  • thanks comment number too *has panic atack*

  • Direct video; good work angryenglishgirl. Hope your dad liked it...

  • thanks wooooo first comment ever *hyperventelates* oh and not a boad one either
