Countless videos and photos can't match what its like to see the R8 in real life.
I'll never forget the first time I saw an R8 in person. I was at a vintage car race up at Road America. They had an exhibit where people were showing off spectacular classic cars, particularly Shelby Cobras (real ones) and Mustangs. I came out of an aisle and looked to my left and saw the R8 staring right back at me, head on, idling. I stood there completely spellbound. Everything else sort of faded away...

yep for me it was over here in the UK. I parked up in what you call a shopping mall. Got out of my car stood up and looked directly at an r8 side on. I was black with silver slats. Dunno how them make it look so good standing stil AND on the move.
