When he takes it out is even simpler. The duck is in a small compartment the whole time. look at 1:15 at the "half lid". When he takes the duck out, he simply opens that compartment. Obviously the senator didnt move his hands up to see if anything was under that lid.
The firkin part is simple and obvious, but where exactly is the compartment on the chair? We can see David's legs through the chair. And if there are mirrors then I don't understand at all how would they be put there so that we "can see" his legs and the background behind them.
Look when he dismantles the box, look at the FIRST item he takes off the box, the lid. At 1:42. Look how he holds it...he doesnt show the whole thing.Behind there is a compartment to hold the duck which dangles off the edge of the table on the LEFT when he puts it down.
The time when he 'shows u how its done' he spins the lid around as though he did that the first time to show u theres nothing in the lid at all

He might have put the duck in a pouch under the top cover. Notice how careful he was when he moved it to the other stool and did not show the bottom of the cover. The duck might have dropped to a hidden compartment of the stool concealed by some sort of mirrors between the legs.
